Disappointing by KymberlyD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I would recommend the ship because the production shows are like being on Broadway; they are amazing. Be careful when booking a room, inquire about the room & have travel agency double check with Royal Caribbean, as my room was not what I had paid for or requested. The check in process at the pier and air travel was a nightmare. I went from Ft. Lauderdale to Dallas, Tx, to Hartford, CT on the return flight and did not get home til 1;20 a.m.!!! Overall service and food on this ship was not as nice as the Mariner or other cruise lines, but the shows carried the ship where their food quality/taste and service lacked. Some service personnel were excellent, but more than not made you almost feel like you were 'a bother to them' if you needed something. That was disappointing for the price I paid for this cruise, I expected the "Royal Treatment' and I was left wanting. So overall rating was disappointing outside of the shows. Not worth the price I paid.

Our Best Cruise Ever! by PriscillaM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

All eight of our party was very impressed with our choice of cruise, ship itinerary etc...We had newlyweds traveling with us from Boston who experienced their first cruise, also our local Brandon, Florida friends who have cruised many times on Royal Caribbean themselves, and our family who also has had the pleasure of cruising before with RCL. We have all decided this is the ONLY way to travel. We already are in the planning stages of another on Independence in December, some of our group has already booked to experience this class ship and its' amenities to introduce to their kids who are 19 and 23 years old. The Crypt was big enough for all of our group between the ages of 23 and 52, but we noticed the DJ started out with 70-80's music then changed around midnight to techno then the dancefloor was empty. We eventually left, but we even made some selections/requests that we never heard. We would say the choice of the DJ, was a bad choice by the evidence of the dancefloor. Our only other complaint was the room service scrambled eggs came uncooked one morning. A very positive cruise in general. Johhny Rockets was a great experience and worth the wait at sea for one lunch. Chop Grille was a nice dining choice and we certainly will take advantage of these two elegant restaurants once again in December. Thanks for spoiling us on the best vacation ever! The MacVicars, Linquists and Careys

Nice Cruise by JakeB

The Freedom of the Seas was fresh, clean and everything the travel channel said it would be. The sheer size of the ship was impressive and really stood out amongst the others we passed while at sea.

Absolutely Great by Tom11

Sail date: /
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We looked forward to this cruise for months. We were not disappointed. The food was plentiful and of the highest quality. There was so much to do we needed 48 hours in a day! We were especially thrilled with the kids activities. On our trips we are usually with our kids all the time. We love that. Our kids had so much to do with Adventure Ocean that at times we rarely saw them.

fabulous trip in a large group with teen by RhondaA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Freedom of the Seas is a very beautiful, clean and new ship, and the cabin staff is well trained to service the guests. The food services are flexible enough to allow variety, for a small or large group. The food services also caters to persnickety teen palates, and schedules. The dining facilities were extremely nice at each venue. Room service was less than what it could have been. The menu was limited and dull. In review of ports, we were unable to depart at Labadee, Haiti, due to weather. The experience at Jamaica, Ocho Rios was a huge disappointment. The beach was dirty and limited in size, with the sewage pipe from the restrooms running directly into the small beach where Freedom of the Seas clients ventured into the surf. The Dunn Falls climb was very slow, crowded, treacherous and somewhat dangerous. I was very surprised that this beach was a Royal Carribean venue.

Freedom of the Seas ~ March 2008 by BillH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Freedom of the Seas is absolutly incredible and highly recommended for anyone planning a vacation to relax and enjoy amazing activities. The Freedom of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world holding about 4000 people. Don't let the size hold you back, this ship is so big... you alway have somthing to do without running into crowds. In closing, I can't say enough about the exciting excursions we enjoyed at our ports of call in San Juan, St Thomas and St Maarten, all guarunteed by Royal Caribbean. We had so much fun that we have already planned our next cruise for 2009.

The ship itself was beautiful and very clean. The service however was lousy. Bar staff was very slow and took customers out of order. Dining room staff was very attentive.

We did have an issue with the spa. They were to give us another couple's massage. They did not follow up with us nor did they credit us for the "service".

Left In Awe by MichelleR11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Upon first glance, The Freedoms size seems so intimidating. IT'S AMAZING! The ease of getting around seems impossible with the size and numorous shops, activities, restaurants, fitness center, spa, etc., but yet it was easy and refreshing to walk after sampling all of the food there is. The amazing amount and variety of what you can eat daily, all day, is another amazing feat the Freedom has accomplished. It is a good thing there is a stairway and a fitness center! Everyday there is a guide to what activities you can join in or observe the next day. While cruising seems somewhat complicated with all of the activities and directions, the guide and staff make it easy and comfortable.

family cruise by EffieD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We loved every aspect of Freedom of the Seas. This boat holds over 4000 passengers but you could never tell. There was always someplace to go or something to see. Good options for everyone. Nothing can compare to Royal's Royal Promenade. Coffee and ice cream selections were key! Late night there was always something to snack on.

EVERYDAY WE WASTED TIME AT THE PURSERS OFFICE LINE WAITING ABOUT OUR PROMISED SHIP BOARD CREDIT AND AT THE LOYALITY DESK TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY WE DID NOT GET IT WHEN WE HAD IT IN WRITING. RCCL CALLED THE WHO NEVER RETURNED RCCL CALLS FROM THE PURSERS DESK AND THE LOYALITY DESK. WE SPENT 7 DAYS WORRYING ABOUT THAT. NO ONE FROM CRUISES ONLY RETURNED THE MANY CALLS TO RCCL.

Great Winter Getaway! by RobertR13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Recently sailed on Freedom of the Seas, which was our 15th cruise with five different cruise lines. Overall, we like the product provided by Royal Caribbean and they are our first choice. Although the ship is hugh (over 4000 passengers), it managed the crowds well and there never were long lines or long waits. In spite of the ship's size, it was easy to navigate and we were quickly able to find our way around. We were in a standard size cabin, but it felt a little larger than on other ships. The food in the regular dining room was very good, and as good or better than we've experienced on any other cruise. We high recommend dinner in Portifino's. The extra $40.00 charge per couple is very reasonable considering what you get -- excellent service and outstanding food. The service in the regular dining room was very good as well. There were no complaints whatsoever about service anywhere onboard. The production shows were very good and it was always easy to find a seat in the main theatre. We especially enjoyed the fine art auctions. Another couple accompanied us on this cruise and it was their first one. They had a fabulous time and this was a particularly good cruise for a first timer. The ship didn't get into San Juan until 3:00 p.m., which didn't leave alot of time to really see Pueto Rico. But St. Maarten and St. Thomas were great as usual. Overall, this was possible one of the top three cruises we've gone on, and we highlly recommend Freedom of the Seas.

Awesome Time by CathyL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

With over 4000 guests on board The Freedom of the Seas was your own personal home for the week. There were very few lines to wait in even with check-in it was simple and fast. The meals were fantastic and the shows were true professional. The flight out included with our package was great. The only conflict was after leaving the ship, we had to wait all day to fly home with no place to store luggage til 2 hours before the flight. Would have helped if flight was earlier.

An Awesome Cruise !!!!! by NancyF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

W just got back from a 7 day cruise on Freedom of the Seas. WOW. This cruise was fantastic. Everything from the check-in process to the disembarkation went smoothly with not even one problem. The food was great and there always seemed to be plenty of it. The only complaint I have about the food is that the buffet is always the same assortment and variety. My suggestion is try something different everyday. The room we stayed in was a promanade room. It had enough room for all of our stuff. The layout of the room was arranged in a way that when you walk in the first thing you walk into is the bed. It caused the room to feel a little cramped but after a day or 2 you no longer feel that way. I would splurge for a balcony room its worth the few extra hundred just for the roomier layout. The shows were amazing as well the decor. Everything including the staff made us feel as though we were on a 6 star resort. This cruise was well worth every penny and more.
