Emerald Princess was a disappointment by Pm11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My overall impression of the Emerald Princess was very disappointing. By this being a new ship I was expecting to be "wowed" yet I was disappointed by the food selections in the restaurants. I did not like the anytime seating as the wait staff was always in a constant rush to get to the next table and set up. My entire group never felt pampered or as Princess states "escape completely". The only thing I wanted to escape from were the rude staff and the impersonal service we all received.

Emerald Princess is a first class ship by KenM9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cabins are great - we had a mini-suite and couldn't ask for more. The service on the ship was great and in spite of its size the crew and stewards were very friendly. The entertainment was terrific - never a dull moment and there was music everywhere. We were on a Xmas cruise and the staff went out of their way to decorate the ship and create a Xmas atmosphere, especially for the many children on board. The food was very good and we appreciated any time dining. Interesting ports of call. The only criticism is of the shops which offer few options and little variety. Highly recommended.

Great ship by RonF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Emerald Princess started sailing in '07. It's beautiful, and so much of it is similar to the other Princess ships....you feel like you've been on it before We like Princess because among other things, you can eat in the dining room any time (which we prefer) or can do the triaditional 1st or 2nd seating. They made extra efforts to have hand disinfectant everywhere in order to prevent the outbreaks that occur on ships

It was a very nice cruise. by JackR8

Sail date: /
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

this was our 5th cruise with Princess and we loved the ship. However, this ship was much to smoky and music very laud. We are about 70 years old love music and dancing but found it almost impoooible to enjoy because of the smoke and laudness. This is the first Princess cruise where we found this problem. Great Cruise by RosanneM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We left Sept 26 on the Emerald Princess for a day Mediterranean cruise. We were supposed to sail the end of July but Princess asked if we would be willing to go in Sept. and they upgraded us to a balcony. This worked out very well for us. The weather was not as hot as it was during July & August. Also, there were only about 20-30 children on the ship which made for a peaceful voyage. I like children but sometimes this kind of trip is too much for them. The ship is very large & holds 3000 people. We did not feel overcrowded as the amount of people seems to flow very well. The ship is decorated beautifully & I especially liked the Piazza. We used the any time dining restaurant , Michaelangelo, & find that much to our liking the last several cruises we have been on. The food was varied to meet the large number of nationalities that were on the ship. They had 6 different language menus to meet that need. Many of the food items were unusual to Americans & I did hear complaints but you have to take the entire ship's population's needs into consideration. There were many choices to suit all tastes.

Living The Good Life by JamesD15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This is a very large ship but somehow we never felt lost or discombobulated. It was extremely clean in all areas. We did experience a fair amount of turbulence and in fact missed stopping at two ports (Marseilles and Mykonos). This was a big 'negative' for us because we had selected this particular cruise based on the ports of call. In the future we will probably choose a smaller ship, one that is more capable of handling docking facilities in inclement weather. The food was plentiful as expected and enough variety to please us.

The Emerald Princess is a beautiful ship by DinahG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Over all this was a good cruise. I was, however, disappointed with some of the crew in that I didn't always feel like they really cared about the passengers. I also was turned off by the Lotus Spa employees. They were too overbearing and almost insulting to one of my friends. They attempted to pressure her to commit to more services than she wanted. High pressure sales doesn't belong on a ship where passengers are trying to relax and have fun. The condition of our cabin when we first arrived was not the best. All mirrors were smudged and the bedspread was ripped. The bathroom had a distinct urine odor. The television never operated properly during the entire cruise. The volume would increase without anyone touching the remote. Seemingly minor problems but it's a new ship so better detail is expected.

Mediocre at best by StanN1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Mine was the ship's sixth cruise and the bugs were still not worked out. Ship was 4-1/2 hours late for the scheduled arrival in Athens requiring a wait in line to cancel an existing and book an alternative shore excursion. Terrible buffet layout and inadequate seating. Buffet offers a wide variety of food which is often times not kept warm. Servers are difficult to find and grudgingly offer service when requested.

Excellent Cruise by JamesB37

Beautiful ship that was well maintaiined. Even though it was new (we were on Christening cruise), there was continuous revarnishing, painting and touch up to keep it looking new.

Enjoyable Cruise by joybrealey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise and although we didn't enjoy the food that much we always found something to eat. The room service was excellent and every time we placed an order it arrived at our cabin within 15 minutes. We found by booking our own tours we saved a lot of money and would do this if we cruised again. Just make sure you look for tours that pick you up at the port as they wait for you if disembarkation is later than anticipated.

Overall an OK cruise, but it does not cater for gluten free and dairy free diets. by WhiteBoar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We enjoyed the ports of call, but more complimentary shuttle buses were needed. We had not purchased any drinks package as we do not drink, but saw very few people actually drinking as drinks were very expensive. Food was not very good in the casual dining or main dining rooms, especially for people with dietary requirements. Entertainment was ok, quizzes geared for American passengers, only one decent special guest artist (instrumentalist). Production Team shows were good.

Covid on ship by APutman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

For those that wonder what happens on a ship when covid strikes, here is a summary. Aboard Emerald Princess for 14-day cruise to the Caribbean. Seven days into the cruise, I caught covid. When I felt the symptoms, was tested by Medical and was positive. I was told to pack everything that was mine and twenty minutes later was taken to a floor 2 decks above and placed in a normal room matching my purchased cabin for 5 days of isolation. My wife was left in her room (in quarantine) and could go anywhere, but had to eat all meals in her room. Next day she tested positive and joined me. Four days past and we were retested and still positive. We were not allowed to leave our cabin but could order anything we wanted and it was delivered to our room, placed on a table outside the door. The deliverer would knock and step away from the door. Trash was placed on the table and picked up during the day. Since CDC states that 10 days must pass before flying we were put in a contracted hotel (price based on your cabin type) till the time passes to fly. All meals are brought to your room where you continued isolation.

C'est une croisière pour se reposer. Mais pour les épicuriens qui ne sont pas en classe diner c'est à éviter pour le moment.
