Bad foods, bad food, bad foods! by GillesDeslaurie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My wife and i have cruised with Princess 35 times So we are ELITE!.

Our last 16 days on Emerald Princess turned out to be the worst cruise we ever had. We complained to the Head waiters who told us to file a complaint with Princess because he told us the nobody care anymore on Emerald! Our dinning waiter who has been with Princess for the last 7 years told us that this Captain is no more interested to care for the cruisers and employees.

On the first 8 days cruise, on the 6 days they ran out of banana, strawberries, cucumbers, celery, cherry tomatoes while we are paying for 8 days cruise!

Worst ice cream that we took to our room to let it melt...terrible cheap product...good for the pigs!

The Horizons Court conversation was Emerald is no more what it was...Elite cruiser couldn't stop talking about the good time.

Above all the the Captain Circle meeting NO OFFICERS WERE PRESENT TO GREET THEIR MOST IMPORTANT CRUISERS...AT time the recognition for the the most cruises done...no officer were there to shake the hands of the best of all, the captain was shinning without being present...

At the swimming pool, everybody were looking for pool towels, as I show my Elite cards asking for towels, i was told to write to Princess because they don't have enough towels for the cruisers, as i insisted...the deck attendant spent at least 15 minutes returning with one towels while my wife and I needed at least 2! A big joke!

Handicap rest room were always OUT OF ORDER>>.> I went to customers desk to complaint, I was told that someone was to call me...two days later two of them were still OUT OF ORDER while no one ever called me!

Security were ignoring children diving and jumping in the pool at one time a kid dived in the face of a lady who sent the rest of her cruise with a BIG BLACK EYE!

Horizon Court served Pork at least 4 times a week, bad choice of food, no sweet pickle and onion, no olive,,,three days before our second cruise...they no longer had orange  for their cruisers...i had 2 in my room, as i walked in the morning to eat one of my orange there was 4 cruisers asking me where I had an orange...I complained to a head waiter who told me to write a complaint to Princess....

We were told many time that Princess is going DOWN HILL!

Princess owe us money to reimburse us for doing such a bad cruise...

PS: In the past we cruised on the Emerald 2008 (Twice) 2011, 2013 and 2015/2016....NO MORE ON EMERALD!

Our next cruise will be on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean!

Great experience overall. by mikeloo12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We went as an extended family of 10; 8 adults (50's) and 2 young adults.

Overall service was excellent, from cabin crew to restaurant servers, they were attentive and did their very best in delivering a good experience in-spite of problems with hot/cold water the first couple of days and considering a very full house of 3,000+ passengers. Room service was exceptional!

An area for improvement if there must be; on our stateroom deck and particularly so in my room, there was a noticeable musk in the air with a distinctive hint for some refreshing of the carpeting in order. The chambermaid very quickly offered to get some air freshener.

I would have rated it 5 stars if not for a rather unfortunate incident during disembarkation. We were given 8.45 am disembarkation time and told to be ready at the Explorer Lounge before that. The lounge was packed with a long line waiting outside to get in there when we found our way there about 8.20 am. There was no clear instructions as to when we should be in the lounge to be ready for disembarkation. When my wife asked a passing staff for clarification as we weren`t sure if we should still be standing in line outside or should already be inside the lounge, he literally barked at us scolding that we shouldn`t be there so early. I was so taken aback that I was momentarily speechless! He had the gall to come back later to give us the ``marching orders`` when our turn for disembarkation was announced. I was ready for him this time around....

That staff (in white uniform, lower rank insignia) unfortunately left a bad stain and I`m sure he doesn`t belong in the Princess experience.

8 (days) is Not enough! by Cruiser449

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

we thoroughly enjoyed our eight-day vacation cruise aboard the Emerald Princess. The seas were a bit rough on the way down to our island destinations and the wind was really blowing against the ship but we had a great time and the sun was out enough for all of us to enjoy it. The days at sea were great, the most we have ever had, and e found lots of family activities to do on board that filled our days with smiles and laughter.

The on-board crew was terriffic and we enjoyed the comedian, the juggler and the cruise staff's work with trivia and bingo everyday.

Cruise to Aruba by tomazeh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Emerald Princess was a fun cruise with the exception of hot tubs that didn't work correctly and only fair food selection and quality at the buffet. The Main Dining was exceptional though

Happy to be back on land by britt12318533

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My friend and I sailed on the Emerald Princess over Christmas. We have both cruised with Princess before and were disappointed. We were in an inside cabin as we always have been. Our room was so warm that we were unable to sleep in the covers and spent the night tossing and turning. There were 8-15 foot waves so the boat was rocky which didn't help our sleep situation. They had to close the pools down one day cause the water was pouring out and it made it unsafe for people to swim.

We had 3 ports on our voyage (Curacao, Bonaire and Aruba). The shopping was very expensive at all 3 ports. It was also difficult to get to a beach at the ports. We took a water taxi to a Pelican Bay beach in Aruba. It was $10 for the taxi and a chair. The beach was busy and it would have been best just to take the city bus to the beach especially with the water being so rough.

The food wasn't up to Princess standards. One evening we walked out of the restaurant and decided to eat at the buffet. 'At the buffet it was the same items for breakfast every morning by the 5th day we were tired of it. The restaurant had mostly red meat options every night and not much variety.

Entertainment was lacking on this ship. In the past there was a lot of shows and a variety of entertainment. On the Emerald it was a lot of different music. A 50's and 60's night that the seniors seemed to enjoy. We had high expectations for Christmas. We received one small stocking in our stateroom with two mini candy canes in it.Christmas Eve the crew and passengers sang Christmas carols. On Christmas there was only one show at 5pm with a couple of the crew members singing a Christmas song of their choice in the theater.

We are both very disappointed with Princess especially with it being their 50th anniversary and celebrating Christmas on the ship. We will be thinking twice booking with Princess again.

Princess Cruises by victor4craven

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Hi There,

we have now just completed our recent cruise with Emerald Princess down to the Caribbean, which was wonderful.

We have been stressed out  recently with moving residences, and a couple of family problems; as well as the never ending stress from living in beautiful South Florida where the traffic and people grow almost by the day.

However we had a wonderful relaxing time cruising with Princess who really take care of their passengers (and crew) giving excellent attention to your every need or request.

We especially like to sit and people watch whilst everyone enjoys themselves in the pools or the various interesting activities that are going on all day.

(because we are - shall we say getting up there in years)

also the visit to Grand Turks and Princess Cay where really lovely beaches to get off the ship and swim in the lovely warm waters; then return to the ship, have a shower and go down to the fine dining that always provide excellent food.

We also really appreciated our Cabin Staff who was really efficient and extremely pleasant answering all our question, and taking excellent care of our cabin.

Thankyou Princess Cruises for a lovely holiday,

Thomas Lovelady.

The good & bad by bkras1937

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was elegant & clean .the piazza & international cafe along with afternoon

teas was a welcome surprise as was the excellent library. The shows were very mediocre . But the band was outstanding .The beaches were beautiful but it was disappointing not to see the luxurious parts of Turks & Caicos that we've heard so much about. The food was satisfactory but not delicious but staff & service was excellent. More & better coffee stations are needed-one had to pay for a decent cup. More interesting p.m. Activities are needed --perhaps a movie that's not geared mainly for children.embarcation & debarcation were handled very well . Line for tender leaving the Cay was awful

Lovely! by oceancruiseme

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

It was very pleasant experience of our first cruise! The ship was decorated for the Holidays very well! Good entertainment and customer service was good too. They did not have too much opportunities to help all needed but they tried to pay attention for each request. How it was successful we are not sure, but all the time someone was in line on the front desk to the receptionists... We booked cabin with balcony and were able to upgrade but no any upgrade at all...cabin was quiet small, no additional coach for luggage and bathroom was very small too, like in airplane but comfortable anyway! Our housekeeper Christina was very friendly and smiley but she definitely didn't know why she is on this ship. She completely forgot to change any towels, and anything about our cabin at all! Our friends were more lucky and no any issue like that. But it wasn't a big deal and we were able to change our towels by ourselves with a different housekeeper.  We really enjoyed with a quality and variety of food! All food was always fresh and tasty! Menu was always different and unique! And some dishes were spectacular! All dining rooms were just perfect but DaVinchi Dining Room is best of the best! Maybe because of absolutely great and amazing job of waitress Patricia Quispe (she is so professional) very friendly, and has a knowledge of her job for real! Also,  the junior waiter Ray Pantaleon did a perfect job too! Overall, service was excellent! Dancers and singers are amazing and can be called "Absolutely best team"! This ship needs more real boutique and more entertainment such as the luxurious ballroom dancing, not just discos. Especially for the Holidays reasons and kind of events. Actually, not too much complain....the only bonus (and other bonuses too) of upgrading was not real at all! Port Everglades at Fort Lauderdale is very comfortable. Grand Turks is very nice too! But the second port of call (private island) Princess Cays is not anything special. The beach was paved with a sharp enough stones. The depth of the ocean was with the big differences and lots of sharp stones under water too (this place not for swimming at all!). But it was an experience and not too bad. And...Yes!...we like Princess Emerald and thinking about future cruise...

Thanks for those who makes this cruise unforgettable by only good points!

Great first Cruise, boat seemed to have a lot of issues, but never affected us. Would go again! by wdahms

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Had a great time.  The boat itself had a lot of issues with water and AC for the suites it seemed like.  We were in a balcony room and had no issues so we were never affected.  Food was good, much better than I had anticipated.  Service was extremely slow in the specialty up-charge restaurants, dinning rooms were very attentive.  All the employees were super helpful and fun!

Great Ship, Activities, something else by celeware

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Emerald princess seemed old, but in good condition. Rooms were clean and kept clean. Anytime dining was excellent, the Trident Grill was good for those times I missed dinner and the Pizzaz was good for a pizza lover, which I am not, but pizzas were made from scratch and it was tempting to try one, not  a disappointment. The entertainment was very good.  The activities they had planned were not too impressive to me, such as the Line Dancing instruction; that was a bit disappointing, I still had fun.  Overall, I had a good time.

Poor Excuse of a ship and company by hn8uv6xYBTUEfq8oZO2q8vwLr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

I have never written a poor review until now. Not just the ship but the company support of their customers is beyond horrible. The ship was just out of dry-dock and did not have towels, toilets, showers or air conditioning. Our room along with several FLOORS did not have the basic necessities in life. Their customer service on board that floating dump was even worse. When asked when we may expect to get a toilet and shower we were told "If you think you have it bad, you should be in our shoes having to listen to all of you". LOL. Are you serious. Today we finally received a call from Princess and was told nothing could be done but thank you for the information. LOL. The ship gave us a $225 credit on board and that is it. Horrible. People: Do not use this company. We have cruised many times on Royal Caribbean and have always been so happy. Good luck if you use Princess. You cannot even use the adult area unless you pay $40 per day extra. Dump!!!!!

not up to par by aasr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was not in great shape. We had a water leak before we left. Some people didn't have hot water and apparently some did not have functioning laboritories .for a few days. Two medical emergencies in the middle of the nite prompted full ship announcements that woke everyone. But, one in the day got no special attention.  The food was just adaquate.  And the thermal suite was very noisy  and no signs posted for it to be a quiet tranquil spot. Lots of boat noises , and no scenery to give a tranquil omvionse. The hot tubs were very rarely hot just luke warm at best. Sevice was OK but nothing to set it above normal. It clean and disembark day was smooth.I don't think we will book with princess in the future.

Disappointed Thansksgiving by moe2220

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This ship  was disappointing.  Not up to par with the other Princess ships we have been on. Our .exepereince was very unpleasant and no consideration of any kind was offered.  No one cared. When entering the cabin had to ask to have my toilet seat replaced because of the stains/dirt on it. We were without air in our cabin for the entire cruise.  Hotel Manager not available to speak with us when we requested.  We have cruised over the years on more than  50 cruises and have not had any kind of experience as this.

The food was fair.  Nothing special,  Buffet very small, Casino had limited tables open during the day.  Would not open other tables til  9 at  night,  Then you couldn't get a seat til after midnight.  Not accommodating

Very unhappy and disappointed

Lack of quality activities on Princess by Cruiser489

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Princess Cruises has gone down the road of of providing activities centered on games, trivia, spa seminars (really sales pitches) and art or jewelry events. Where are the interesting lectures about the area your in or on topics of general interest. When they do have them, these lectures fill the Princess Theatre. The concept of the Piazza where Princess schedules so many fun and interesting event can only be viewed by about 200 of the 3000 on board with little seating. People are required to for the most part stand around the rails or steps blocking traffic and causing congestion. It doesn't help that jewelry tables and photo set up block the area as well. Even the Captain held his welcome and intro of staff there. I am looking for a new cruise line even though I am Elite. With the loud musical shows and truly low quality of guest performers, it's hard to find interesting quaility things to do on Princess Cruises.

as always we had a great time, we were with friends [their first time] and they had a great time . Our servers, Katerina and Jorge at table 404, were the best. We felt like they made our cruise a success, and were really a big part of the enjoyment. Looking forward to the next cruise.

Very Nice by jeaniesmith

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

I loved the ship and my room.....I loved where my agent put me near the Plaza....

My only thing is that there wasn't enough professional quality entertainers on the ship. Out of five, there were only two of professional quality. The food in the dining room was wonderful and the service top notch. things seemed to shut down around ten at night which I though was odd.

One word of advice: for people that have walking disabilities, there needs to be accessible wheelchair in the front to go through the security line. That was scary. When i got off the ship the last day I just happened to see a guy with wheelchairs and asked for one. All in all we had a good experience and learned things I will do and won't do on my 2nd cruise, Thank you.
