The Disney Cruise Line cruise... by MeganG3

Ship: Disney Magic

The Disney Cruise Line cruise was the best, beyond far, of vacations we have ever taken. The food was the best ever tasted and the entertainment was like going to New York and seeing a Broadway show. The activities were amazing. The kids was unbelieveable and adults could have time to themselves. Family was one of the main reasons to go on a vacation, right??? Well Disney has done it again. The whole cruise is family oriented. The activities for the family is the best on earth. If I kept telling you about all the wonderful, magical and fun things onboard, I'd be here forever. Our family went on the 7 day cruise. It is the best vacation ever taken in the history of our family vacations. We are already planning our next one this April. Nothing on the ship is any reason to complain about -- it is all soo great!!!! If you're looking to take a family vacation, all I can say is, this is the definite way to go!!!!

Ship: Disney Magic

This was by far the best vacation my family and I have ever been on! I am 14 and was very worried that I would have to listen toscreaming kids and live in a Disney-themedhell for a week. It wasn't like that at all!If you are a teen, this is the greatest placeto be! The teen room is amazing. Laptops, playstation, dreamcast, movies, parties, games, etc! All without your parents and/orlittle brothers and sisters! Don't worry though, parents. We are supervised! I highly recommend this to people of any age. We'll never forget it! THANK YOU DCL! *****5 stars!***** August 12th - 19th 2000MAIDEN 7 NIGHT VOYAGE! DISNEY MAGIC 4 EVER!

A Teenage Perspective by AmandaB10

Ship: Disney Magic

Well, I have set sail on both the luxurious vessels, The Magic and The Wonder. Being a teenager myself I found both the ships to be superb! I had the best time of my life. In fact, I`m trying to con my parents into going on the 7-day. Anyway, I highly recommend this cruise. There is something for everyone! Teens will fit in, there are parties going on every night it was crazy fun. There`s tons of stuff for kids and adults as well. But man o man, this cruise just rocks!

For our honeymoon, my husband... by JulietA85311852

Ship: Disney Magic

For our honeymoon, my husband and I decided to try the DCL. The only good things I have to say about it was transportation to and from port was easy and the embarkation was smooth. Food was so-so. I got tired of the same items in the breakfast and lunch buffet. The was virtually no room service available and if you wanted a midnight snack...forget it! There was no midnight buffet. Entertainment was mostly kid oriented. Movies shown on board during our Nassau docking was the best part. (By the way, in regards to Nassau...stay on the ship...we hated it!) It was our honeymoon and Disney "lost" that tidbit of info...but they certainly charged us for it. Customer service reps were rude beyond belief. No one wanted to help when we showed them our receipt that showed that we should be getting certain amenities. They were "lost." After two letters, we were reimbursed $100 in Disney Store gift certificate. (We lost more than this in amenities that we prepaid for.) Many other passengers on our cruise were having the same type of problems. I would not recommend this cruise unless you're traveling with children. We were very dissapointed and I will never travel with the DCL again.

Ship: Disney Magic

This three day cruise was the best we could of hoped for. It was our first cruise and it was paradise, from the moment we boarded till the minute we disembarked it was fun filled, easy care-free the staff were the nicest people they could be. The food not only looked good on our plates,it was delicious, the kid programs were a parents prayer we never had to worry about them... they all had a great time they made new friends.

Ship: Disney Magic

Our family went on a cruise last January aboard the Disney Magic. Some people complain about the service and food. You must have been on a different cruise or something. The cruise was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The service, food and people were absolutely remarkable! I guess that some people do not understand the wonderful time that you're supposed to have. It is called a vacation, right?

We sailed on the 9/15/02... by KathyL1

Ship: Disney Magic

We sailed on the 9/15/02 4 night cruise. Embarkation and disembarkation were excellent. Our balcony stateroom was very nice. Overall, the cruise was very good. Food was ok, not much of a variety. Disappointed in the Animators Palate. My 4- year-old son did not like the kids program and therefore, we did not get to go to Palo's. Kids' program was too rigid. They had a great area to play, run and jump; but the kids were not allowed to. If your child did not wish to listen to stories, they were asked to leave. Kids program is much better on Princess. Ship was very beautiful and clean. Private island was great!!!

1. Excursion Desk was manned... by SamL2

Ship: Disney Magic

1. Excursion Desk was manned by persons who had never been to some of the islands where the ship was going, and could not offer any information.2. Food quality was average at best, with small portions. However, the servers were excellent.3. Guest Services did not offer assistance when my wife's wheelchair was stolen. They would only file a "lost" report, and then never attempted to locate it. The room steward and head waiter at breakfast were the only ones who assisted in finding it.4. The evening entertainment was designed for a 3 day cruise, and not the 7 day cruise we were on.5. Small children could be heard running up and down the halls every night until 3 AM. Very disappointing end to something we looked forward to for so long.

The Disney Cruise was truly Magical ! by JoanT3

Ship: Disney Magic

The Disney 7 day Cruise was truly Magical. The food, entertainment, games and day sightseeing tours were wonderful. No matter what age you are, there is something for everyone. The Cruise staff is pure Disney, from the Capt. to the room stewards. Anything you want, they will provide it in true Disney style.

This was our third seven-day... by JeanN3992058

Ship: Disney Magic

This was our third seven-day DCL cruise in as many years - and while my two children are still young, I feel there is no better vacation available...While we we were slightly disappointed that the regular menus, as well as the cabaret performers, have not changed much in 3 years, the overall experience is, well, "magical!"1. The staff, or "cast members", specialize in that Disney way, to make you feel like you're the most important person onboard2. The children's programs are unparalleled, with an entire deck devoted to them...the children have there own personal navigator, or itinerary for the week... My 6-year-old never wanted to leave...we brought him to the Oceaneers Club at 11 am , and he blissfully stayed there until 11pm!!! The counselors took the children to all meals, and did a great job in supervising them.3. While the food in the regular restaurants was good, the reservation only restaurant, Palo, is a must, and not to be missed. Please note, anyone planning to visit this restaurant with a certain day and time in mind, must make a reservation within an hour after embarkation , as reservations go fast (DCL regulars call this the "ressie scramble.")Ditto for spa reservations, as well as the great in-house nursery for under 3 children, Flounder's Reef.3. As for the entertainment - DCL offers 2 especially great, Broadway quality original shows that should not be missed - Hercules The Musical, and Disney Dreams - Both are just outstanding...Many on our last cruise, 10/12/02, were repeaters. I think that says a lot about the DCL experience vs. other cruise lines. I overwhelmingly recommend this cruise for anybody with children, as this represents the ultimate family vacation. As for adults cruising without kids, I recommend giving DCL a try. Although there are no casinos, you will still find plenty of ways to have fun, and that special brand of Disney hospitality just cannot be beat.

We had such a wonderful... by TheresaT

Ship: Disney Magic

We had such a wonderful time on the 4-day cruise on the Disney Wonder that we booked the 7-day cruise on the Disney Magic. Both experiences were wonderful from beginning to end. The ships are beautiful and the cabins very comfortable. The design of the bathrooms are great when everyone is there trying to get ready for the next activity or dinner. Disney seems to be very organized and we found all the staff friendly and willing to go out of their way for you.Our children, ages 5, 10 and 16, enjoyed all the programs and entertainment. We found the food to be good. We took a friend along too and she especially enjoyed one of the appetizers on the first night. They made sure she had that appetizer available to her every night even though it wasn't on the menu. On the one night, we decided not to eat in the dining room and they had the appetizer sent to her cabin! Little things like that really make a cruiser feel special! I do think the food was better on the 7-day cruise vs. the 4-day.Castaway Cay is one of the best parts of the whole cruise. Don't miss it. Just be sure to get off the ship early to get yourself a chair or hammock. If I have any complaints it is that the chairs are limited and it's a madhouse run to get them.My husband and I enjoyed the spa very much. It was a great place to unwind and just relax a bit and never seemed too crowded. You can pay one price and get unlimited use of the spa and Rain Forest. My family and I will definitely be taking another Disney cruise in the future! We had the time of our lives on both.Theresa, GA 8/2000, 6/2001

Disney Makes the most out of an old, small ship. by SeveralChunks

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic

The Disney Magic is an old ship that’s obviously limited on space, things to do, and dining, but the ship’s been taken great care of, and DCL makes the most out of the space it has. The ship is packed with Disney magic and this trip makes me really want to try DCL’s newer offerings and see how far they’ve come, and if I were traveling with young kids, I would not hesitate to take them aboard.

Not so magical by julie79836356

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic

Our party of seven had its moments of pleasurable experiences, but we found the overall experience not worth the hype. Little kids enjoy seeing characters but their attention span to wait in line for hours just for a photo op is too much. Bigger kids would have more fun either at the Disney Parks or on a Carnival cruise - just saying.

Pretty Magical on the Magic by Scwhent

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Magic

This was a good cruise. Our first two cruises were on Disney but this was our first back after several years on other lines. I still think Disney is top notch but I am not sure it’s worth the premium if you aren’t traveling with little kids to appreciate the Disney characters. Embarkation was the easiest I have ever had for a cruise. We were about an hour early and I was hoping we wouldn’t have to stand around and they would at least let us sit until our time but we walked right through the whole process and were on board in minutes. Service was excellent everywhere from the restaurants to shops and everywhere else. The food was really good in the dining rooms, buffet and pool deck. I do wish they had the buffet open for dinner for nights where you may not be in the mood for fancier dining. I also think it’s hard at night to get any food unless you order room service. Pizza was open later except for the last night but if you wanted some other dessert or snack the only option is room service. My only complaint about the buffet was that there is no control about capacity. A couple of times they gladly let us in only to find there were absolutely no tables anywhere and people were literally standing around with full plates waiting on people to finish. It seems if it’s that crowded they should have people wait outside. Our verandah room was nice and the bed was really comfortable. Our room steward was excellent. The entertainment was excellent. The stage shows are Broadway caliber but even the lounge acts were good. Nassim in the Soul Cat Lounge was great. Castaway Cay is worth the price of admission. It is an excellent island paradise and I would take a Disney cruise just to go there. Serenity Bay there is great and the one place you can escape the hordes of children. This is probably my biggest gripe about the cruise was the number of children. I understand it’s Disney and I don’t mind the kids in the places they are supposed to be. I do mind them in the adult pool or in the bars. One lady was clearly aggravated when told her children were not supposed to be in the adult pool. It was not uncommon to see kids playing in the bars while the adults were getting a drink. It’s Disney and amazing for kids but they should stay in the family areas. I do think Disney has some great adult areas but they should be monitored better. Disembarkation was easy but they had few announcements so it was a bit confusing. The ship looks great for its age. The furniture is worn but I would not have guessed it’s a 25 year old ship. I will return to Disney to get back to Castaway Cay but I think most of our future adult only cruises will on other lines.

Remove the Disney stuff and it’s just a subpar cruise ship by WesBrook

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic

I’m glad I got to spend some quality time with my family and extended family. The cruise was just OK but I would rather spend the Disney price on a more “luxury” cruise with another cruise line. I feel that Disney’s standard has really gone down (but maybe it’s just this particular ship).
