Review summary

I’m glad I got to spend some quality time with my family and extended family. The cruise was just OK but I would rather spend the Disney price on a more “luxury” cruise with another cruise line. I feel that Disney’s standard has really gone down (but maybe it’s just this particular ship).

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Registering at the 30 day mark was a pain as the website was down or super slow. However, once you registered and have your PAT, the embarkation process was pretty efficient. We arrived about 15 minutes early and they let us into the terminal. There was a short wait while they called our number and then we were on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We have done 2 prior Disney cruises about 6 years ago and I thought the food was fantastic. This time, there were dinners where nothing on their entree menu sounded appetizing (which is very rare for me on cruises). The desserts were not good at all so I ended up eating mostly ice cream. This was the first Disney cruise for my brother’s family (they have been on RCL’s cruises before) and they thought RCL had better food.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Disney offered several chances to meet with Disney and Marvel characters. The movie theater was also cool (we were able to watch Antman and the Wasp). This was the best part of the cruise. The pools were mostly packed.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved the Broadway style shows. The magician was just okay. He should have a better setup for camera so you can see the magic from a distance and the long audience interaction was just too much.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My 5 year old nephew loved the kids club and went every day. My 12 year old daughter and 9 year old niece tried it for about an hour and never went back. They said it was boring.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
I thought Disney pride itself on providing top notch service and the friendliest staff. The staff was ok, but my family thought that RCL’s crews were way friendlier and more interactive. We usually leave our cruises with hugs all around for the crews we interacted with the most, but not this cruise. I think Disney’s quality and expectation went down tremendously. However, we did have pleasant interactions with the registration desk who resolved all our issues.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean but you can tell that the ship is falling apart (cosmetically). We heard the Magic is due for refurbishment soon, which it needed.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice large room and the connecting door to my brother’s cabin was even better.

Ship tip

If this is your first Disney cruise, you may enjoy it more. I had prior Disney cruises (prepandemic) to compare to and this cruise did not live up to those experiences.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We walked around the port area and returned to the ship within a couple of hours. Shopping was very typical touristy items but fair prices.

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
We love NOLA!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had a nice relaxing breakfast and off the ship relatively quick.

Appreciate your detailed feedback. Glad the Disney experience is still there. But sorry the rest of the cruise was disappointing. The industry is still not back to normal; they may never be.
