Buyer BEWARE!! by spot11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first Disney Cruise, although we have had cruises with other major cruise companies (Carnival, Princess, etc.) , so I have a good frame of reference.

While the ship and accommodations were fine, there are some warnings I have to others that have not sailed with Disney before. First, travelers should be prepared that on top of the cost for the Cruise, Disney is constantly trying to 'upsell' more products and services. It seems everywhere you turn they find an opportunity to extract more money from you. There is a 'Pirate theme night' which naturally has a Pirate store with pirate clothing ready to sell you, There is a boutique for little girls filled with princess dresses…etc, etc. There are NO LIQUOR drinks included in the cost of the the cruise, this is all extraEven if you want a Cappucino it is more expensive than Starbucks. The biggest shock of them all is how we went to the gym onboard to a foot pain class, and they tried to sell us Good Feet shoe insets for $200! (After reviews on this product, I discovered these were a complete ripoff)

Disney has no 'conflict of interest' policy with the workers selling goods!

AMAZING!!!!!!!!! by Oceanbluesky

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Amazing, watching my grandchildren were breathtaking. The shows were spectacular, my almost 2 year old grandson watched all the shows till the end and then wanted more! (we had second seating). The characters were all above expatiation, they spent plenty of time with both children and did not rush and we had several items to be autographed (you can no long leave items at the service desk to be signed). Tickets for the princess worked great!! short lines :) and we even met Cinderella twice walking around the ship, she stopped knelled down and spend time with each child. Bibby Bobby Boo worth every 59 dollars. Castaway Cay wonderful, character parade/dance A+. food was good, but I didn't go for the food I went for the Disney experience and I GOT IT!!!!! The 3 day cruise was perfect being on a budget.

The only thing I think that was ever said negative it would be small elevators. Disney is the only way to cruise with small children, they cater to them in every way:) and adults too :)

This was beyond excellent.....truly Magical!!! by Disneychic26

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This has been our 5th Disney cruise (our first on the Magic) and it has been really "Magical", thanks to all the staffmembers on this ship who made this anniversary celebration one to forever be remembered..a special shoutout to the photographers Anthony,Rommel and Mukesh for always bringing out the 'kid' in us every time we meet with their silly jokes and jollyness...Also a special shoutout to our waiters on this trip mr.Gede and ms. Susan for their Excellent service and mr Gede for showing us new tricks every nite..that was very entertaining ( most of the time mindblowing).and at last our stateroom host  mr Ferdinand  (Ferdi)who so caringly and efficiently cleaned our room every day of our trip(and kept our room clean and tidy after every time we visited the room thru the day)Thank you all for taking such good care of us and for this wonderful and magical time...HappyBig Smile

Overall, Excellent by JSR37

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

All in All this was a fantastic trip for our family.  The kids were always busy, the entertainment fantastic.  The service terrific.  We had a great time.  The ONLY negatives as we see it...food mediocre at best.  We understand it is difficult to feed 3K people but they could have done better.  Ingredient lists were not readily available for our son with allergies and that was an additional draw-back...despite my calling "special services" before leaving home.  The staff did the very best they could, but DCL could have done much better with regard to this.

Disney Magic, Dec 23, 2015 by vzolotarskaya

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was our first cruise and we loved it. rooms, restaurants, activities, all was great. The service was amazing, everything was thought through and planned carefully. All logistics and administrative issues were unbelievably smooth. Already booked another cruise.

There was only one area which was below fantastic, not a show stopper, but just not comparable with the rest amazing experience - the oceaneer's club and lab. The facilities are great and the program too, but the staff was not engaging. For example, in other clubs when the child first enters the club, a staff member would greet the child, show him/her around, try to get him/her engaged for at least first couple of minutes, so that it is easier for the child to let the parents go. I once got a message that my child needs to be picked up, but when we came it appeared she only wanted someone to help her to start drawing/coloring. A counselor could have asked her what she wants first instead of immediately asking me to come. Another example, I once saw a child crying because she lost her mom during the open house, and nobody was noticing. I spoke to the girl, took her by hand and took her to the counselors to help find her mom, but they themselves did not notice her. Also, once my child was looking for something in the club (some craft that she did and wanted to take to the room) and couldn't find it. she approached counselors and was very upset, close to crying, but they didn't pay attention. I had to actually enter the club and approach the counselor with her and only then did they try to help.

As I said, the overall experience was amazing, and we will definitely go again, but this is just something that could be improved.

One of Those Trips of a Lifetime by gremorr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Pompeii, Rome, Florence, the French Riviera...all places Americans hear about from the time they begin hearing about places. These geographic locations are among the icons of our planet. They are not just simply tourist locations, but rather historical markers, cultural meccas and places of dreams and imagination. Now, what would you say if someone told you they could arrange for you to see all these wondrous spots within a single week, and all you had to do was unpack once? Well, that is exactly what DCL can arrange for you with their 7 Night Western Mediterranean cruise.

Following up our first ever cruise last year aboard the Disney Wonder in Alaska, my wife and I departed the ever so cool city of Barcelona aboard the Wonder's sister ship, Magic. Saturday, late afternoon, and the Magic eased its way out into the Mediterranean Sea, the bluest water I've seen in my life. Sailing due east across the sea we soon lost sight of the land behind us as the sun set. Disney did not disappoint. The food, the service, the entertainment...all was first rate.

The shore excursions, while amazing, were strenuous, especially during the summer when the heat and humidity were high. I imagine there are weather related reasons Disney repositions its ships to the Caribbean in the fall and winter rather than continue to tour other parts of the world when the temperatures are milder, but it would be nice to be able to take this cruise when it isn't so hot in Italy.

I am a big Disney Cruise Line fan and advocate. If you are contemplating a Med cruise, you should seriously consider the Disney experience.

Another fantastic cruise by Disnoid

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

DCL never ceases to amaze.  Our servers were terrific.  Cindy and Ralex and George made each meal fun and the chefs sent us amazing tastes of their home countries.

The changes to the ship from the prior dry-dock were an improvement, but not as much was changed.  Another dry-dock was planned so we will have to see next time in 2016.

Our cabins were in great shape and the Host kept everything clean.

The crew was friendly and helpful as always and are like our extended family.  The backstage tour is not to be missed.

It's Magical... by LMTCDaniel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Back to Disney magic 10 months after first disney magic Mediterranean experience. Really I've no words to describe. Only sensations.  Disney excellence combined with unremarkable top service.

It's simply magical.

Will never forget.

50th Birthday by bobking849

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 1st cruise and I would say that I never had a \"WOW\" moment. The food was good but not great, the room was nice but nothing big there. The pools were small and limited seating after everyone \"claimed\" their space in the morning. The stuff they get more money from you with had \"Great\" service.

Family Fun Experience by ptscott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For a family the Disney Cruise is a great experience as the ship offers lots of activities, excursions, entertainment and non stop movies.  The atmosphere is fun and exciting for children, especially if they are really in to the characters that appear daily throughout the ship.

However, as an experienced cruiser I will say I do have some things I found lacking with our cruise.  First was the online experience which I found very difficult compared to other "adult" cruise lines when it came to finding good information.  The personal information once entered was difficult to find and/or change.  I wanted to change my passport information to a passport card number and never found a way to do that.  The packing list provided in the documentation was not specific to our cruise and we were left wondering whether there was a formal night or not.  We also did not know that there was a pirate night.  Though other passengers were aware somehow it just was not clear or easily found on the website.  Most cruises also allow you to book excursions from the date you reserve.  Disney won't allow you to enter your personal information or book excursions until 75 days before the cruise.  We were on vacation and some of the excursions were already booked by the time we could choose.

The only other criticism I have was I found the food selections plentiful but felt the quality of the food was not that good.  The wait staff made up for the the lack of food quality.  They were fun with both kids and adults both and made for an entertaining time at meals.

One other not so great experience was that one piece of our luggage was delivered damaged and I had to purchase a new suitcase to continue our trip. One of the rollers was broken and tore completely off my suitcase after we moved it to our rental car.

Overall I will say that it was a fun and entertaining cruise for families but hope Disney will improve their food quality and their website.  I would certainly recommend this cruise to other families.

We would strongly suggest Disney Magic, although it was an older ship you couldn’t tell and we had no complaints. A great ship for first time cruisers.

Ship: Disney Magic

Very disappointed. Gave one star because zero wasn't allowed. No "Disney Magic" at all. Long lines for everything, characters never accessible, horrible kids club unless your 3-5 yrs old. Pools rarely open, no activities unless you want to play bingo for $100 a session. Wait staff very slow. Shows were ok. Room was nice but very expensive. I'd say you get what you pay for but this was a total rip off. I've paid thousands less and had a better cruise.

It's Disney customer service and cleanliness at sea. Everything they do is at least one step above everyone else. This was my first cruise and have done 3 since and we still talk about how great it was. Can't wait to get back on.
