Our First Cruise With Princess by WayneA4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Crown Princess is a BIG Ship! It is also well appointed and very clean. Our physically challenged cabin (E304) was the best layout I have ever cruised in. There was plenty of open floor space, queen sized bed with two large night stands with 6 drawers each, a desk with cabinet & 'fridge and three large closets. We also had a small table and two chairs as well as a desk chair. There was a convenient space open between the end of the closets and the arc of the cabin door to allow storage for my wife's wheelchair. Our window was supposed to have a "fully obstructed" view, but this was only some equipment for the lifeboats and would only really affect photography out of the window. By far our favorite place on the ship was Club Fusion. We spent more time here than any other room on board. Bingo, Karaoke, Trivia Games and other events took place here and the room is equipped with many large screen monitors that allow a view of the action no matter where you sit. Other venues we especially enjoyed were the Explorer's Club and the Princess Theater. The Casino is large and offered two non-smoking nights on our 9-day cruise. The staff was fantastic. From waiters in the dining room, to bar staff, to cabin steward, to cruise staff we were treated royally. The ship is a relatively smooth sailer. The most movement we experienced was after leaving Bermuda and sailing into some rough weather that had passed over the island earlier in the day. On the down side, the only designated handicapped seating in theater areas is in the Princess Theater. This is a problem because several of the show options are offered in other venues, such as the Explorer's Lounge that do not have designated wheelchair areas. Another problem is the very heavy doors on the Lido and outside decks, all of which have wheelchair actuators that do not work (and are no longer even connected). Dining in the Lido deck restaurants (Horizon Court and Cafe Caribe) is also dificult for wheelchair passengers as the layout of the bufet, with multiple islands and a meandering pathway through thme means that passengers with plates are walking in all directions and crossing back and forth at random. After the first couple of days, we opted to have breakfast in the open seating DaVinci Dining Room and were glad of the choice. Overall the plusses balanced or exceeded the minuses so we would probably cruise with Princess again.

Beautiful ship but... by EllenW8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Have been on several mega cruise ships before but this one was toooo big in terms of the amout of passengers (3200). It unfortunately felt crowded too often and the ship did not dock in the prime areas (West part of Bermuda, off on other side of St Thomas) necessitating a ride on expensive taxi's and ferries. Food was excellent but restaurants charge a fee! This absolutely should not be when you are paying top dollar for a cruise as was the case with charges for pizza and ice cream.

A Great Ship by SusanH31

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Crown Princess was an amazing ship. This being our 9th cruise, the staff was the best! The food was good, and the ship was clean and always well maintained. The only draw back to the ship was the rooms are smaller then other ships. We had a Mini Suite, and was surprised by the room space. My in-laws had an ocean view and thiers was very small. But, what it might lack in space, it more then makes up with lots of areas to sit and relax, in other parts of the ship.

Average cruise w/ above avg highlights by JohannaH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Although the ship is beautiful and state of the art there were alot of "little things" that bothered me about the ship compared to what I experienced with Carnival: the only drinks included are water, coffee, hot tea and unsweetened iced-tea ( & OJ and cranberry for breakfast only) everything else you had to pay for; ice cream was not included ($3.75 i believe, but free 24/7 on Carnival); NO CLOCK in the room! it drove me crazy!; the ship docks far away (st. thomas, and bermuda) from "downtown" areas where other ships docked forcing you to pay ridiculous open air taxi fees or squeeze onto ferries with the rest of the 3000 passengers; lack of specific announcements (ie no signs letting you know before hand that the 24 hr internet cafe will close at a certain point resulting in you wasting your prepaid money, not clearly stating when the last call for baggage pickup is, not informing all passengers that even though the ferries run every 1/2 hr in bermuda if you dont make the 3:30 you won't make it back by the 4:30 all-aboard)

First Time on Princess Cruise line by MrsW50498598

Sail date: /
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

well your sure can't say, "if you been on one ship, you've been on them all" Princess Cruise line has a floor plan all of it's own. It's like a maze, everything is around a corner, it was fun stumpling among new areas. Besides not liking the $10 charge per day, per person for tipping which can be quite expensive if there are husband, wife and 3 kids like my case. That's $400 which not typical of what I would tip the 4-5 primary people that directly deals with you on a daily basis. I'd rather have the contol of who I tip and how much. I thought the food was good, lots of variety, the shows, live bands all exceeded my expectations.

Great cruise by TeresaM5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship, the Crown Princess, was beautiful. Very large and spread out. It was a little difficult to negotiate and find our way around, but we got used to it after a few days. This was our 4th cruise overall, so we had some idea of the layout of most ships. Everything was so clean, the pool areas were great. We are not late night people and felt the entertainment choices were offered too late for us. Other entertainment options were over the dinner time. The food was average, even in the dining room. But the speciality restaurant was excellent with exceptional service. We just stopped in without a reservation and they did everything they could to accommodate us. The route that we took was fabulous and we saw so many islands, all with the luxury of the cruise ship to make it easy. This is a cruise that is highly recommended.

Crown Princess by TyraE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This new(er), huge ship has sacrificed everything in order to cram more people aboard. We were so disappointed in the small size of the common areas. You had to get to a show at least 1/2 hour early or you didn't get a seat. Service all-around was poor and the purser staff were extremely rude. None of the celebrations we filled out online (4 months prior to cruising) were honored. We were a group of 4 couples traveling together to celebrate birthdays.

Great Cruise by ZaiT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We took the 7 nights Southern Caribben cruise on the Crown Princess. The ship was beautiful and very big. It holds 3100+ passengers and over 1100 crew memebers. There was no shortage of people there to help w/whatever you needed. I traveled w/my 7 and 9 year old sons. They also enjoyed the trip very much. We sailed out of San Juan, PR. We stopped in Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarteen, and St. Thomas, V.I.

Beyond Expectations by YvonneK

Sail date: /
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This is a beautiful ship that was built with a little of something for everyone. Wonderful design, adequate staterooms, tastefully docorated throughout. The Movies Under the Stars is out of this world, loved crusing and watching, with a bag of popcorn provideded by the crew, first run movies. A lot of thought went into putting the ship together (large venues for entertainment, numerous resturants, three pools, casino and bars).

Great cruise,good times,awesome views! by JackR3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Over 3,150 passengers onboard and most of the time you feel like you are the only ones onboard. We were onboard a week and still didn't get to explore the whole ship. One very big plus about a large ship is no rocking and rolling can be felt. And yet you still recieve personalized service. And I for one love the traditional dining. You meet new people and your waiters get to know you. You almost don't even have to order your dinner, it's like they already know what you like. I tried personal choice dining and didn't feel like I was getting that personal service like traditional dining gives you. So, I highly recommend traditional dining.

A Very Large Ship by AT484

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was very well kept and the activities were varied and well organized. The size of the ship was overwhelming and it took much time to get from one place to another. It was almost impossible to find travel companions. The food was good, but not great.

Very disappointed by NikiT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I was excited about this cruise because I thought everything would be new and fresh. Boy, was I wrong. Hot tubs not working, Pool water freezing, lines of people everywhere. The complete crew was very tired and really didn't go out of their way for anything. You need to give them some time off, or give them a lesson in being upbeat and positive. We've been on many cruise lines and this one was the worse so far. Very disappointed in quality of food, and service all around. You've got to do better than this to stay in competition with everyone else. Start reading your reviews-we're all saying the same things. Get with it!

First cruise but not the last. by BruceV1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The size of the ship impressed me. My wife and I hve never been on a cruise before and did not know what to expect. Let me tell you it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable weeks we have ever had. The service was great as was the food, we both put on 8 pounds. As soon as we got off the ship we both decided that we were going to do this again and in the near future. Thank you very much for making our first cruise such a great one.
