Worst Cruise Ever!! by palmotree

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Nothing on this Cruise was good. First time going on Princess and Last time!! Five hours or more late leaving the Port? Unreal. We waited in line for 4 hours to get on board and MANY MANY people were cutting in line ahead of us. I have been all over the World on Cruises and not one was like this. In Italy I walked straight on with nary await. All our Scheduled Shore Excursions  that we reserved ahead of time were cancelled and all port days and times redone at shorter stays. We had to rebook and we were told we might not get them back, they told us to wake up early and run down to reserve them AGAIN!! And we had to wait all day on pins and needles, causing us a lot of stress. The buffet place had no seats sometimes and we had to go outside where it was cold. We were not compensated for anything also, unreal!!

had a wonderful time by tarnishdhalo38

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

we had a wonderful time, and the only complaint we had was the chaos with departure on embarkation day. However this was NOT Crown Princesses fault, the Port Authority saw fit to employ 11 customs officials with 3 ships departing the same day!! 11 people to process 10,000 plus people!! The Captain and Crew of Crown Princess went above and beyond to accommodate passengers as best they could. Itineraries had to be changed and excursions rebooked and they bent over backwards to get everyone back on track. The cruise itself was incredible, breath taking, and we would go again in a heart beat!!!

Crown Princess repositioning by Newcastle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The cruise was really great!  Our cabin had an ideal location, close to things we liked to do.  Staff were all very nice.  We enjoyed the church service/Bible study that was offered several days. Ports were all fun.  Onboard shops were closed the entire last day of the cruise, which was disappointing. Shows, entertainment, and guest lecturer were all great as well.

ship in terrible condition by Jpscherer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

rusty balcony, sink slow drain, unorganized buffet. list goes on.

people who are loyal to Princess complained about condition.

Crew was not engaged with the passenger.  Seemed to do enough to get by.

the dining staff was excellent -personable and went the extra mile to please.

We felt like it was the last cruise for the crew and ready to go home for vacation.

The entertainment was great.

Best itinerary - OK Boat by grunmi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Excellent cruise to the west coast.  The ports were all excellent.  San Francisco was both beautiful and fun.  Nice options in both the city and excursions.  Astoria, Oregon was beautiful, simple and relaxing.  Victoria was an even better port with beauty, nature, and a great city.  Superb whale watching.  Vancouver is as beautiful as it gets.  The boat was so-so: food was sub-par (except for the crab pot); the ride was rocky (not terrible) although the weather and seas were reasonably calm, the activities were great (wine tasting was great), and the ship facilities were nice, including the room.

Had a great time overall. by RPolicastro

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The best and most memorable aspects of this cruise was the production shows at night and the excellent shore excursions in San Francisco (to Sausalito and Muir Woods via the Golden Gate), Santa Barbara (to see Montecito), and the trolley tour of the city in San Diego. Each guide on these tours were dedicated to their jobs and very informative and lighthearted. The cruise director Dan Appleby made the ship cruise activities fun and kept us laughing (don't miss the Liars Club evening show). His cruise staff, however, were quite unenthusiastic and showed little if any excitement about their jobs. The rock and roll music trivia games (50s and 60s mainly) was quite enjoyable. Bingo was boring due to the bland cruise staff.

Overall, we found the service to be courteous and gracious.

The items that could have been better was the food in the Horizon Court and somewhat in the dining room. There is too much repetition of the same foods and

no choices for those passengers with heart healthy concerns. The desserts were the best and amazingly good. The pizzeria had excellent pizza but I found out about it a little too late. The ship is 10 years old and shows some wear in the staterooms mainly but overall, the ship was very clean and kept up well.

To summarize, we had a very good time and would take the Crown Princess again in the future.

The  California coastline cruise was a great cruise, we would definitely consider going on this cruise again. The ports are very nice and all the destinations were beautiful.

Review by ksmolin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

It was a nice cruise. The ship was nice. The staff onboard was nice. The food was not so good & our choices were quite limited. Had a noro virus outbreak on board. The capatain and staff responded and acted immediately and protected all other passengers. Inadvertently left our electronics onboard. Immediately drove back to ship. Ship was in dock for another 4 hours. Princess rep made one call and said they couldn't find our stuff.  This was shortly after we disembarked. Really?!  It was all together in one cupboard in our Stateroom hours earlier.  We filled out reports. We've called. We've emailed and have received no response from Princess other than an automated "we received your email."  Very disappointing. We are Ruby Level cruisers with Princess, but unfortunately this may have been our last Princess cruise.

dissappointed by mjmetz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

My expectations were not met at all. The variety of entertainment was poor,  2 formal nights and their strict expectations of "formal wear" was not as read of and expected. The specialized restaurants were wonderful. Variety of food was also below standards, expecially breakfast. A lot of food was prepared way ahead and showed.

Gkood cruise, but... by pslaughter6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

The cruise was very good for the most part with excellent and plentiful entertainment. Food and service were excellent except for a mild Noro Virus scare..Biggest disappointment was being charged twice for the gratuity for the cabin..We expected to pay $13  a day for the cabin, but were charged $13 a day for each person in the cabin. Never charged this way on all the other cruises we have been on (carnival/Holland America).

Room service ,a disaster, anytime dining , the worst I ever have on a crurise ship by phhu171

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We have also booked a balcony for my daughter and her two sons.  One night at 8:pm the sofa bed of my daughter's room was still not set, so I called room service.  The guy showed up and complained that he had many other rooms to serve.  In my twenty some years of travel, this was the worst I ever experienced.

Anytime dining is a joke.  The ship has three small dining rooms. Every evening the seats were all taken by 5:15 pm and then you have to wait for one to two hours.  Reservation is allowed at 8 am.  By the time we called each morning, the earliest reservation  is 7:30 pm.  It seems that Princess has decided the best way to make money is to squeeze as many passengers as possible and let them eat buffet, which is just ordinary.

Relaxing Cruise by Sen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

This was the second time we have cruised on Princess.  Service was excellent except in the Horizon Court buffet where service was almost non-existent. Room was very nice and bed very comfortable. Room steward was friendly, cleaned our room promptly and gave us exceptional service.  Quality of food in dining room was much better than at the buffet . Entertainment was enjoyable and they showed first-run movies each day.  Did not take excursions since easy to get around by ourselves and see all we wanted to see at each port.  All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable cruise.

Was good really can't complain.... by NBConsumer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

I really liked the cruise, loved my cabin but unfortunately did not like the food in the buffet area called Horizon. The food in the sit down dining halls was pretty good! Wish they had the formal night during both Sea Days but the last formal was during one of the off-shore excursions day.

anytime dinner choice was a mess by billnorwood66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Our party of four selected "anytime dining" as a our choice. We believed it would would provide us more flexibility. It resulted in reservations for only late sittings and or long lines with up to an hour wait.  Many others were surprised by this debacle.

The other aspects of the trip were enjoyable.

Note:  we did not receive our $50 on-board credit automatically as stated in our initial paperwork.  We were told to follow-up with Cruise.com after returning home.  Can you tell me how I can claim this $50 credit.  The other couple in our party were told they would receive their $25 check in the mail.

California Coastal by Cruiser598

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Great ports to visit on the California Coastal cruise.  Have gone on it twice and would go again but at a different time of year.  Thought "spring break" was over but had 700 plus (20% )of passengers that were children.

Nice get away by lilmommg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We enjoyed the food and the service staff very much.  I was not happy with the internet service and the high cost of it.   It was too slow and cumbersome to use.  Getting into the room with my walker was difficult.  I wish they had more trivia games.  My husband enjoyed the shows and the choice of movies offered very much.

Pleasant CA Coastal Cruise - as expected by rachelannwinter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

I was very pleased with this cruise for husband Gary and myself.  As we live in southern California and March has very variable weather, we did NOT pre-book any shore excursions, but did get off at all ports.

It's easy to use public transportation in San Francisco and San Diego.  Note that Santa Barbara's electric shore and Old Town shuttle at Wharf is only 25 cents for seniors; although it's not a HopOn-HopOff tour, the city is so small & cost so low, you can easily go to end of ride, then start again & stop at agreed-upon attraction.

Again, we were very pleased with Crown Princess ship, attentive ship staff and their food service, and the stops.

My Glorious Crown Princess Week by LisaDarmousseh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

I have been on over 56 cruises, My week on the Crown Princess "Topped" them all.  Everything was perfect, the service, impeccable, the food, amazing, the staff, exceeded expectations!  It was a terrific vacation.  My opinion about only traveling to far places, has changed, who knew you could have such a fabulous trip in your own backyard.  The Crown Princess has a special place in my heart, and always will.  Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco but I left mine on The Crown Princess! Until we meet again......
