Review summary
The best and most memorable aspects of this cruise was the production shows at night and the excellent shore excursions in San Francisco (to Sausalito and Muir Woods via the Golden Gate), Santa Barbara (to see Montecito), and the trolley tour of the city in San Diego. Each guide on these tours were dedicated to their jobs and very informative and lighthearted. The cruise director Dan Appleby made the ship cruise activities fun and kept us laughing (don't miss the Liars Club evening show). His cruise staff, however, were quite unenthusiastic and showed little if any excitement about their jobs. The rock and roll music trivia games (50s and 60s mainly) was quite enjoyable. Bingo was boring due to the bland cruise staff.
Overall, we found the service to be courteous and gracious.
The items that could have been better was the food in the Horizon Court and somewhat in the dining room. There is too much repetition of the same foods and
no choices for those passengers with heart healthy concerns. The desserts were the best and amazingly good. The pizzeria had excellent pizza but I found out about it a little too late. The ship is 10 years old and shows some wear in the staterooms mainly but overall, the ship was very clean and kept up well.
To summarize, we had a very good time and would take the Crown Princess again in the future.
