Review summary

This was the second time we have cruised on Princess.  Service was excellent except in the Horizon Court buffet where service was almost non-existent. Room was very nice and bed very comfortable. Room steward was friendly, cleaned our room promptly and gave us exceptional service.  Quality of food in dining room was much better than at the buffet . Entertainment was enjoyable and they showed first-run movies each day.  Did not take excursions since easy to get around by ourselves and see all we wanted to see at each port.  All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food in dining room much better than at buffet.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Many options offered.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage shows were enjoyable & liked that they showed first-run movies both in theater and outside by pool.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Didn't have children but heard good reports from families who did.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Most of the staff was friendly and very helpful.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Didn't care much for some of the decor, but that was a personal preference.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was nice size with desk & frig. Shower was a bit small but adequate. Bed very comfortable. Had obstructed view (lifeboat hanging by window) but still could see view. Was a bit noisy when they were working on cables outside our window but otherwise ok.

Ship tip

We chose traditional seating for dinner which was great because we never had to wait in line to be seated. Those who chose "anytime seating" always had to wait in line to be seated. Found quality and selection of food served in dining room was better than that served at the buffet.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

3 out of 5
Boarded and disembarked in San Pedro so didn't tour town.

San Francisco, California

5 out of 5
Took free shuttle to Pier 39 and then could walk or take bus to other sights.

Santa Barbara, California

5 out of 5
They offer a cheap shuttle to town but can also walk since it is not far from dock. Wharf also very close by with a Maritime Museum.

San Diego, California

5 out of 5
They had free shuttle to Seaport Village which was an excellent place to shop and walk around.

Ensenada, Mexico Did not visit port

Didn't get off ship.
