Not what I paid for! by saxyshan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival did not handle the ship breaking situation very well. When I found out about it the would not give me a refund when I asked for one. They waited until I got there, got checked in, and the ships about to sail to offer a refund to get off the ship. I had my whole family, there was no time and the boats about to leave.

Devastated!!! Not at all what I dreamt it would be by mrsgg1987

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was devastated 2 days before the cruise to find out that I was not going to Jamaica and Grand Cayman, which is why I chose this cruise for my 50th birthday celebration, I went anyway to try to make the best of the dream vacation, it got worse when it only stopped 2 ports, Costa Maya was a Ghetto Beach that my children were afraid of the many beggars. The compensation that was given by Carnival and Cheap Cruises didn’t make up the experience, it was a slap in the face for me, my 1st time for Carnival and my last, will be warning everyone to never use Carnival you will not get what you pay for! A bunch of LIARS!

Carnival Vista (Galveston) was a... by tvhjannise

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

Carnival Vista (Galveston) was a very beautiful ship. The embarkation was fantastic, we walked on with minimal delay..........Disembarkation was the complete opposite......You are asked to be out of your cabin by 8:30 am so they can get the ship ready for the next cruise, okay, no problem.....But there is NO reason it should take 5.5 hours to get off the ship!!! I’m not sure what the problem was, but if this going to the “normal,” we may have to say goodbye Carnival.... The Carnival Dream and Carnival Vista we’re docking at 6:00 am. Customs/Immigration doesn’t start to work until 8:00 am. This seems like poor planning on someone’s part. The most logical thing would be for one of the ships to come in earlier or later than the other. BAD forethought on someone’s part. Why would Customs not start earlier?? Ships come in later???? NOT AT THE SAME TIME.. Something needs to change.

Caribbean Relaxation by Nu2cruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, great 1st cruise experience. Good excursions, nice weather, ship needs to keep adult bars open till 1:00 a.m. Dislike the casino bar - way too smoky for late night beverage. Breakfast in the dinning room was always great. Every one of the specialty dinning venues was 5 star.

All done with my cruise... by jallaway

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

All done with my cruise on the Vista. I have to the think the complaints are unfounded. For me, overall, it was no better or worse than the Dream class ships I've been on. Some advantages are negated by some quirks. I'll just comment on the quirks: The lobby isn't as bad as some make it out to be; but it could use a refresh. The graphic light column gets old quick. The displays can make the room claustrophobic and it often casts a weird shade of light across the lobby. The lobby is much smaller than what appears on the numerous photos and YouTube videos I had seen before the cruise. The lobby elevators arent necessarily slow, just wonky. There's eight elevators but they are paired to different floor combinations, so there's three different call buttons. The main dining rooms decor looks like a 60's coffee shop. I think they are experimenting with large prep stations that chop up the space; but I'm not sure how much difference they made for speeding up service. Good: The food quality was one of the best I've had on a Carnival ship. The ship was very smoooooth. The bad? It was a HOT, often uncomfortably hot cruise, especially during the first few days. A "technical problem" that was slowing down the ship was noted by the Captain in a letter. As we all know, that's an especially bad thing for the long Galveston runs.

NOT good by shannonstaton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was very let down with my onboard experience with the room steward and waitress staff. Not to mention that some things cheap cruises told us was not true like we were told the prepaid gratuity was included and then on our 5th day my parents account was hit with $700 of gratuity charges.

Not my favorite of of... by prestongrl

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

Not my favorite of of Carnivals ships! Had good and bad. The bar service was horrible and it was HOT in our room! The ship was really crowded and had a lot of unsupervised kids running around. Now, we don’t usually cruise in June, so that could be why. The food in the dining room was wonderful like always and the steakhouse Fahrenheit 555 was amazing as was the service! Overall we always have fun when we cruise with carnival! We would probably choose a different boat or go during off season when it’s not so crowned.

Fun time with a few mishaps by brentdana1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was great! After the first day with the threatening security guard interrogation by Nevil ) who also refused to show us supposed tapes he had) then the wrong excursion in the caymans with the rude worker named Kate at the desk who basically said it was our fault when clearly it was a glitch in the link and we didn’t realize until we were ON the excursion. Plus everyone else on the boat thought we were going to starfish island as well . This proving it was a glitch in the link through carnivals shore excursions....We missed out on that and a lunch and an extra hour.🤬 After that, all was good. This trip was a gift to our cousins and their family who have never been on a cruise and I was a little embarrassed at the two mishaps. *OVERALL BEST CRUISE DIRECTOR MATT!!! I have been on 16 cruises and by far he is the best on the 7 seas!!

Absolutely amazing! by laurienkevin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had an amazing vacation in this cruise! From the start of our morning till we crashed at the end of the day, we were able to be as active or as lazy as we wanted to be! Breakfast was really good: I can’t make fruit and omelets everyday at home! Lunch time usually found us on the Lido deck... we always found the best of variety available from appetizers to desserts! Our most memorable meal, of course, was dining proper for the evening meal. The formal night was fun... maybe one would have been plenty, though. Kevin and I enjoyed the casino more than we thought we would...we really had a relaxing (except for the physically challenging excursions!) mand nice cruise!

It's been almost a week... by preciousroze

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

It's been almost a week since I disembarked from the Carnival Vista. Let's just say I had a blast! The Vista is a beautiful ship and for me it was easy to navigate. The downside were waiting for the elevators especially on port days and debarkation day, but that was to be expected. Luckily, we were on the 2nd floor and all we had to do was go down a couple of flights to get off at a port. Matt Mitchum was an excellent cruise director. Very funny. I enjoyed going to his morning show and he threw great parties. Our room steward was very attentive. She made sure our room was cleaned promptly. I did give her an extra tip at the beginning. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I can't wait until next time.

Overall the cruise was good. It was my first time traveling with a 1 year old and she did great. I wish the food was a little better and that’s it. Family harbor is a plus with kids.

While the Vista is not my favorite ship, it is beautiful and has a lot of places to sit either by yourself or with a few others quietly. Plenty of places to eat and drink, and the onboard activities were fun.

A Beautiful Work in Progress by MelaninQueen84

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Way too many unsupervised young children on this vessel. Myself & other passengers expressed constant concerns about their safety. Some kids were rude & played pranks, especially with the elevators. Carnival should have a curfew in place & kids under a certain age must be with a guardian at all times unless they are enrolled in Camp Carnival. If a young child is alone on the ship, a staff member should be able to ask where their guardian is, call the stateroom, etc. There are security cameras & personnel so I wonder how things got so out of control. So sad.
