Review summary

I was devastated 2 days before the cruise to find out that I was not going to Jamaica and Grand Cayman, which is why I chose this cruise for my 50th birthday celebration, I went anyway to try to make the best of the dream vacation, it got worse when it only stopped 2 ports, Costa Maya was a Ghetto Beach that my children were afraid of the many beggars. The compensation that was given by Carnival and Cheap Cruises didn’t make up the experience, it was a slap in the face for me, my 1st time for Carnival and my last, will be warning everyone to never use Carnival you will not get what you pay for! A bunch of LIARS!

PS - the beggars are at a lot of the beaches in the Caribbean. That’s just the way it is. It’s not a Carnival thing. But I do admit, I didn’t care for Costa Maya either and I wouldn’t choose that port.

I can totally understand why this would upset you, especially being your first cruise. Things happen though and I believe carnival tried to make it right. My cruise on the Vista 7/20 was cancelled. We are all disappointed of course, but they are refunding us 100% AND we get a free future cruise. That definitely softens the disappointment.

Try sailing in hurricane season, you never know where you'll end up. As long as I'm cruising I don't care where I go. Where else can you get someone to cook for you, entertain you and make your bed

Unfortunately life happens and ships have to be diverted especially when cruising during bad weather. It’s part of life. I have taken many cruises on different cruise lines and one has to relax and enjoy the moments. Getting upset at things out of your control will give you health issues such as high blood pressure. Take time to see the beauty in life.

Sailed out of Galveston 2 times one on the Freedom once on the Vista, smooth sailing both times, shit happens, it's out of your control, bad luck for you?

Sorry you had such a bad experience, as stated earlier you wouldn’t have wanted to be stuck in the middle of the ocean. Had they had not changed you probably would have and this would have an even worse experience. Honestly, I wouldn’t have cared if we didn’t go to any ports, I love just being on the cruise and having fun. Sad that you are giving up after one cruise, obviously they aren’t doing it much or they wouldn’t have the business they do and so many repeat cruisers. Good luck next time 😊

I know there's no excuse in your mind to make up for the disappointment you have. But don't judge this one incident and give up on Carnival. I agree it could have been handled better, but the ship was having engine problems and could have been worse if the would have tried to stay with the original itinerary. You could have been in the middle of the ocean with engine problems and how safe would you have felt in that situation. Carnival was trying to save face and look out for your safety. I sailed the Vista this past March on the same itinerary you had and we had no problems. Saying they are liars is a bit much. Since your profile doesn't show any previous cruises, so if Carnival was your first cruise I can understand the disappointment, far as Jamaica in my opinion you wouldn't have felt safe there either, for you are your kids. Give it another try before giving up.
