Review summary

Overall the cruise was good. It was my first time traveling with a 1 year old and she did great. I wish the food was a little better and that’s it. Family harbor is a plus with kids.

Embarkation

Pretty smooth for a lot of people. As long as you have your papers needed to board, it goes by fairly quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room food was ok. I ate at Guys BBQ, but I was disappointed that it was only open on sea days. The first time I went the BBQ was good. I went on the last sea day and it wasn’t that good. I didn’t try the speciality restaurants because the food in the MDR wasn’t that good and didn’t want to take a chance on the other places and the food wouldn’t be good. My husband loved the crabs at the Seafood Shack. He went like 3 times.

Guy's Burger Joint

5 out of 5

My husband and I ate their until we burned ourselves out of it.

Lido Marketplace

4 out of 5

The fruit and desserts were my highlights. The cheese tasted funny to me in the omelets.

Sports Bar

5 out of 5

This was the spot to be on the cruise mostly because the NBA Finals where on. I believe it was packed on their for 2 days.

Seafood Shack

5 out of 5

I couldn’t keep my husband away! Really good. I wasn’t a fan of the fish and chips.

Horizons Restaurant

4 out of 5

Food was ok!

Cherry on Top

5 out of 5

My all time favorite place! I can go their over and over again.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We were mostly near the sports area, family harbor, and we watched the Love and Marriage Show. We didn’t get do exploring like we wanted since we had our 1 year old with us.

Vista Casino

3 out of 5

Smokey! I had to go through it to get to where I wanted to go otherwise I would of avoided it at all cost.

Vista Atrium

5 out of 5

The atriums was nice. Quite different from other ships. It’s definitely a mood creator especially at the white night party.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The DJ was good, we didn’t see much of the shows or performers. We saw part of a comedy show and it was so so.

Family Harbor Lounge

5 out of 5

The best value yet. If I didn’t want to go far for a snack, my son made some friends while playing on the gaming systems, and mostly kids. Free Laundry - self explanatory.

Carnival's Seaside Theatre

5 out of 5

Loved it and so did my baby on nights when she wasn’t sleepy.

Children's Programs

We kept our 1 year old with us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our servers in the MDR were nice, it took a minute for them to warm up to us. We were a fairly large group. Most of the staff was really friendly to my baby and accommodating.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Between the 3-5th floor, it was difficult to navigate without having to go up and down to get to where you wanted to go. For the most part the ship was clean and maintained all the way to the cracks. We saw crew members cleaning places you wouldn’t think of.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was a normal interior. The only thing I didn’t like was that there was only one closet. In past cruises I’ve have more space. The cabin was kept clean, I just wished my steward has changed the sheets more often.

Ship tip

Be patient and have fun.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Home port - get on and get off.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

5 out of 5
I love Jamaica, but I have a bias to it because of family. We went to Doctors Beach and did some shopping. The next time I go, I’m going to do more excursions.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
It was pretty good, the people were a little ruder. We went to Royal Palms and enjoyed the beach. I wish we had more time at this port.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
I liked this port, it has really came along since I was here last. Our group swim with dolphins, I observed. Easy getting their and back.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Super easy! We were off the boat within 45minutes of docking.

Jamaica gets a bad rap, but we enjoyed our time there a lot. We did a beach excursion with all inclusive food and drinks. One of our best times. This was a few years ago and I found out recently that my 3 teenagers were able to sneak and drink there though. They are over 21 now and I guess felt the need to tell me that. 🙄
