Carnival Pride Cruise by Cruiser632

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our Carnival cruise was not quite as good as we expected this time.  Although Carnival added Guys Burgers and Blue Iguana Cantina (which were both great) the other buffet food was ok.  Mechanical and/or electrical problems caused elevators and AC to fail one day and water did not work on part of the ship, so some public bathrooms got really backed up (STINKY).  We did not even use the Casino once because of all the smoking in there.  We had heard that the Carnival Pride had some renovations/upgrades done..  Other than adding another water slide and changing the food options, we did not notice any other changes.  The dining room staff and our stateroom attendant were really great but overworked.  Carnival should have had more waiters on staff - these guys worked their butts off (and always with a smile).  We did have great weather, and in spite of the problems mentioned above, we had a good time.  We will cruise again, but maybe not on Carnival Pride.

8 Days of Fun by MollyP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

We had beautiful weather for 8nights, 9 days. The people sailing with us were all very friendly. Food was fantastic. The shows were excellent and the comics left us laughing at each show.

First Time Cruiser by alfredr35

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was the first cruise for my wife and myself.Though I have no other cruise to compare it to,any future cruise will have to meet very high level of satisfation and enjoyment we recieved on this carnival cruise. All the ship personell we interacted with were very accommidating and knowledgeable. The room service  was excellent, food ,entertainmet ,activities, shows and all on ship goings on was beyond my expectations.I will definitely be cruising again on Carnival. I'am so happy we took advantage of the opportunity to go on thhis cruise. This is what taking a vaction is all about maxing and relaxing. The ship it's self impressed me it was clean very well matained. The on board band The OO LA LA'S ware great I don't think there was nothing that they could not play. The night life with so many choices of things to do on ship was just so important to me .As I said before this is vactioning.I can hardly wait to do it again . Thanks Carnival for a memorable vacation.

2nd trip--Less than expected by Cruiser501

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

this was our 2nd trip on Carnival Pride and we must say it was not up to par this time. the lows--We experienced several issues on board: No air conditioning at times, brown water, intermittent water during showers, toilets at times did not flush, no elevators service 1 day, inadequate food and temperature of food during the breakfast buffet.  Very disappointed in the quality of entertainment on board and the lack of things to do while on board. Adult serenity area needs to have more shaded seating available.  the highs--our dining room wait staff was excellent and food selections very good,  Our cabin steward was very attentive and provided excellent service as well.

BERMUDA CRUISE features and entertaiment by hnguyen347

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

I am a bit disappointed about how this cruise was organized.

1) checking is from 3:00 to 4.00PM, I cam in at 3:40PM and no greeting, almost deserted, no guidance. I think that Cruise is half-empty

2) Entertainment has Musical show in the 70/80 music with 8 persons and Max 10 or 12 entertainers for the every for the 6 days that we are on board, one disco, One Piano lounge almost empty everytime I visit, the Comedian-shows  are vulgar, disrespectfully sarcasting talk to white folks (I am asian). Bingo is held but not many attendance- Casino is always ringing full of people, Trivial challenges have about 20+ attendances in the lobby,

-cooking show isentertaining

- Spa staff  for my ladies are good, hair done for her is good, but the massage therapy done on me is from a newcomer-inexperience staff (she was a nail/manicurist before boarding the cruise)

3) Dining Room schedule is Chaos, I see many other people complained/yelled at Mr  Andre the Maitre 'D for separating the family of 6 and place them on hall way table for 2 & 4 each.

4) DINING ROOM schedule:

a) Mine was worst, I had a early dining at 6:00PM on my 1st night that move me up & down from 3rd to 2nd floor.

b) on 2nd night,  after seating on my reserved  table for several minutes, a co-host came by courteously asked if I can move to another table so that they have a 6 persons use my table, I said OK (as were are3). We were moved to another big table that share with one couple- therefore I refused, so we were moved to in the middle room over the Machine-room below- The sea was rought and noise from the machine-room was unbearable, so I asked to move, then it is 6:40PM

c) Since no table was avalaibe, 3 of us was moved to a small round table of the walkway- tendered by ONE WAITER for 7 stations.

- It took a long time before we have our cold food- on a cold plate, I asked why there is no juice on my prime-rib, so he came back with a brown sauce- uneatable, I asked for a change so he suggested surf& Turf, then we said yes. he came back at 7:30PM with salty lobsters that I can barely eat, then I order ice-cream on a hot-saucer ( He is waiting on 7 tables that are all left by now) . I asked him and talk to the Co-host of MaitreD why he served me a Cold Prime-Rib on a cold plate and the IceCream on a Hot Saucer, he said that he has to wait on-line ion the Kitchen to order food, and grab hot availble saucer to scoop the IceCream. Co-host did not daid anything.

- by 8:00PM he came back with a bill of 60.00 asking me to sign. I asked him what it is for he said for the Surf& TurF, which I thought at the courtesy of replacing my cold food at his suggestion, So I call MaitreD but he sent someone that said that they will take care off. But on the day of debarking I see my bill of 947.00 That has 60.00 food. etc.. etc...

It was my worst dining encounter

The shows and cruise director,  Steve, were below par.  Also something has to be done about the smoke in the casino.  It keeps non-smokers out of there.

Copy at first but smooth sailing, just mind the buffet food by wma29484

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

Overall it was a nice experience for our first cruise. Weather didn't cooperate the first two days at sea causing the boat to rock a lot, but what can you do.? Only have two complaints one being that it would be nice to have daily weather predictions included in the schedule flyers they give each night. The second being the buffet food, at times this was what I would deem inedible. Seemed Ike everything cooked on the buffet was old and overlooked and do not agree with me or others in my party. Stick with the taco bar, burger bar (best food on the ship) and the dining room and you'll be much better off

relaxing 5 night cruise by millioncruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

The cruise was very relaxing even though we had rough seas the first day. The new upgrades with guy's burger and blue iguana were great  . I just wish they were open for dinner. I felt my dinner choices were limited.

The entertainment was wonderful and energetic.

I have been to Bermuda before but because of our late arrival  I was not able to get out to Verdmont . I did find a lovely little snorkel beach by Dock Yard.

I did come back home refreshed.

Carnival has declined by tjhavig

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

I'm actually speaking from experience here, in  that I cruised on this exact same ship on a different cruise 18 months ago.  Carnival has definitely started cutting corners.  It wasn't the ship itself, but the level of service, the amenities and the details were all less.  No chocolates at turn down, waiters that more or less did what they did at the pace they felt met their needs, and a severe reduction in live musicians were just the tip of the iceberg....Small things, I know, but then again, part of the cruise experience.

I don't hold the cruise line responsible for the weather (which was bad) nor the location (which was good), so I'm limiting myself to the on board experience.

At some points during meals we went without bread, refills on our drinks, food that was less than hot and a lesser quality and variety than we had come to expect from Carnival.  This was true at every meal, unless we were serving ourselves upstairs.

None of the shows had live music, so they have become a dance / karaoke performance, and some of the shows got changed at the last minute to different themes, so don't believe everything you're told in the morning paper.

Don't get me wrong: a cruise is still a great trip and a good value, but we are probably going to have to look at other cruise lines to get the touches we want to experience while on board.

what the heck? by soylattelover

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

The boat was extremely smokey on the casino floor. Some of the crew like the "Asian Marshmallow" entertainment help crew member  as he/she referred to him/herself was quite rude to boaters...thinking he was being funny. Very few appreciated his/her humor. The waiters, room cleaning and boat care staff were extremely respectful and kind people who you could tell work very hard for their money. The boat is soooooo Las Vegas looking. NO wonder most of the people said they were on the boat free with a friend because of the amount they gamble. The tourists reflected who you really are trying to get on board.

Carnival Pride by Cruiser565

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The people were wonderful. Helpful, nice, kind and went out of their way to make our vacation nice. It was also the first cruise in over a dozen I have been on where every day, all day long, I noticed dozens of crew cleaning everything from the ceiling to the deck.

Nice job folks!

Avoid this ship at all cost by antionettecade

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my 5th cruise and I was excited to take my fiancé on his first cruise. some of the people on board were rude and walked in front of you in the dining lines. Our linen was not changed daily we had to leave notes for the cabin steward to change the linen - the towels were stained with blood and the water from the faucet was brown. The food was okay nothing to write home about - for a 7 day cruise I could not wait to get off this ship.  So disappointed!!!!

Never Again!! by LindaHammanJones77

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We were so excited about our cruise, I have wanted to go for 35 years and took almost a year to plan. It was nothing like I thought it would be. First our room was right under a bar that played music and we constantly heard moving of chairs and laughing until 2  a.m. every night. Second, we didn't not know there would be so  many little children, it sounded like we had some little children on each side of our room because there was a pounding on the walls on and off all through the cruise.  Third, every little thing was money, money money.  When we asked to have our mini bar open, every thing in it cost money to drink!!!  Then we did not know at first that every little thing you do with those little nice cards they give you to pay for everything, that's attached to our credit card that there is concierge charge attached, so we were living tips everywhere and they were automatically getting one on the charges! This was also happening in the casino as well, if you used your card to pay, there's a fee attached!!!  Fourth, when we finally make it to Nassau to have an encounter with the dolphins, our little boat that take about 100 people over to the Island breaks down in the water for 45 minutes in the sun!!!  Fifth, after we have our dolphin encounter (which was the only great thing) we are already to go spend time in the beautiful water and on the beautiful white sand, no it's time to head back because of the shortage of time!!  Sixth, nothing but lines, lines, lines and it's time to head back to the ship!!!!  Seventh, there was suppose to be a Birthday cake for me there was never nothing!!  I feel if you are not an alcoholic when you get on the ship, by the time you get back, you will be!!!  It was nothing that I thought it would be. Thousands of dollars down the drain.  I am keeping my feet on dry land for now on.

my first and not last cruise! by itzdawnee35

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My first cruise and I really can't wait to do another. I couldn't believe all that was all that was included and I really enjoyed the daily cruise activities that were given everyday. So whether your at sea or on excursions at shore there was also something to do! I appreciated my trave agent Aimee for all she walked me through and prepared me for.

it was a wonderful cruise. It's a beautiful ship the only thing is I wish they had real king size beds to give honeymooners and not 2 twin beds pushed together.

Nice improvements but others are much need. Disappointed in changes made to my benefits Im use to under the VIFP Program. by dgb250

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Carnival Pride had made some changes to the boat that were really nice but they also made other changes that I didnt agree with. Plus doing the upgrades there are things that they didnt make, that should be like changing those old tv sets that are half working or on the verge of going out. My knob on the shower just fell completely off and I had to put it back on.  The toilet seat needs replacement. My towels kept having long dark hair all on them when my hair is short and they were suppose to be fresh clean towels. They no longer have robs in the rooms for your use. You have to ask for them. Benefits I use to get for sailing with them a certain amount of cruises, they have cut back or cut off certain things in which I was very disappointed about especially when I had these benefits on my last trip with them last year.  They had their pros and cons.  They do have a comedy show this time that was very good and I hope they keep that going. They need to change and add new things to the food menu on the lido deck and in the dining room.  The menu by the 4th day is completely boring and people then stop going to the dining room and plus they end up having the same menu as the dining room up on deck 9.  They need more variety. I can say that my dining staff was very pleasant and always had a smile on their face and always put one on mines. They were Selvin , Marvin and Roger.  I would love to have them wait on me any day.  They will be truly missed.  My cleaning steward was very nice, polite and very friendly as well.  I can truly say I didnt run into any problem with staff any where on the ship.  Everyone I came encounter with greeted me with a smile and hello or asked how my day was. On our day at Half Moon Cay we got rained out therefore we didnt get to enjoy the island at all.

we went on this cruise for our honeymoon and it was perfect! All the staff were nice and welcoming, stopped what they were doing to help you and made you feel so comfortable! The ports were beautiful and there was so much to do. Same for the ship, everyday/night there is something different and exciting going on.
