The unforgettable Carnival Legend experience by jarredondo417

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was our first cruise wich also was our honeymoon cruise. We loved the experience, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We had no problems at all with luggage or anything of that nature. The entertainment is outstanding, from stand up comedians to live musicals then illusion shows it was a very memorable experience. The food was phenomenal and they have plenty of it. We strongly recommend you board the carnival legend experience. We absolutely enjoyed it and are planning our next cruise.

Fun in the Caribbean Sun by Kirstin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise on the Carnival Legend was a fun and exciting family vacation for us.  The boat was clean and the service was excellent!  The food was very good in the dining rooms but if you want a buffet late, it was not availiable.  However pizza and ice cream was plentiful.  The boat was well managed and the weather was beautiful with expected humidity.  The stops kept the excitement going and the sea days gave options for relaxation or choices of many activities.  The entertainment was fun but not at the high calliber we have seen in the past.  Dining room service supurb!  Overall lots of fun in the sun!

Of note:  We booked an excersion through Shore Trips, the Belize cave tubing experience.  Cardinal and Louis were extradonary guides and took the time to show us all the extras including plant and animal life on the way to the cave, the best swimming spots, fun safe places to jump into the water and formations in the cave I don't think were being pointed out to other guests.  For a more reasonable pricethan most others we compared they carried our tubes to the cave and had them ready and waiting for us.  This left our hands free to explore and swim and enjoy!  Nice work Cardinal and Louis from VIV (Very Important Visitor). :)

Legend review by pampeerme

The food was good.  The service was excellent.  Some of the shows were very good and some not so much.  It would have been nice to have live bands at the pools etc.  The room was spacious with lots of storage and the bathroom was a good size.

A great time was had by all by CummingCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Loved the Carnival Legend.  We were supposed to go to Mahogany Bay and that was cancelled, due to weather, which was not their fault, but then they changed the itinerary for the day and I missed something I planned to attend, and that was their fault.  They should have put new plans for the day at everyone's door like they do every night.

The boat was great.  Entertainment was good, although the illusionsists were a bit slutty for kids to attend and we found that out the hard way.  All in all, we really had a good time.  Food in main dining room was excellent, as was the staff serving it.  Great time!

Western Caribbean cruise. Wow by Fike4ecu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The wait staff (Adi, Razvan, and Gabriel) were awesome. The ports were wonderful and clean. The excursions were good too. Get a balcony room. Nice option to have.

The photos on the ship were good but way too expensive. I can get olan mills for that price. Don't bother with the bottomless bubbles unless you drink lots of soda. We drank water all day because of hydration in the tropics and we were good with that and lido deck beverages all day. Recommend the Mayan ruins in Belize at Altan Hu really nice trip. Mahagony bay was beautiful and so peaceful. Take city bus on Grand Cayman to see turtles.

Carnival Cruising makes you remember how to enjoy life and just have fun! by adelaide1441

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My Father of (96 yrs) enjoyed the crew and staff in the dinning room who were so kind and helpful to him.  He wants to take another Cruise as soon as possible with Carnival.  He's still happy and talking about what a beautiful ship and all the fun things to do and seeing all the activities.  His spirits are so up and feels so good to have fun.

My husband and I are so appreciative of how the staff  concerns that the three of us were having a good time and if we needed anything at all to let them know.  The crew and the entire staff we will always remember and the cruise goes without saying....JUST  PLAN  GREAT  FUN  AND EXCITEMENT.

Bye for now and thanks for a most wonderful CRUISE  ON "THE LEDGEND OF THE SEA"

A time to remember! by gsanchez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I recommend Carnival Legend to any one who is interested in having the time of their life, whether that be with your family, friends or even by yourself! The cruise was very diverse with happy people from all walks of life. The hospitality on the cruise ship and the people from the ports were fantastic! There was not a moment that I felt bored. There was so much to do. Also, did I fail to mention how tasty the food was all over the cruise. This was my first cruise and it will not be my last. Seven days was not long enough. I can't wait to plan my next carnival cruise!

Great value by gslizewski

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The stateroom that we had 6216 was large and comfortable for a cruise ship. The ports of call were all interesting and the ships crew was accomodating. The food and entertainment on the ship were a bit of a let down compared to other lines that we had sailed with in the past. That said you get what you pay for. This is the first cruise that had no midnight buffet it did however have two dress up nights which I preceive as a joke, simply a way to make money off of photogrpahs. One issue that I did have was that the age limit at certain venues was not enforced we had teenagers 14.15,16 year old kids at adult only shows. We did a excursion at each stop and never used the cruiselines services which proved to be a great idea. The cruiselines excusions were packed and over crowded. All in all a fun vaction but if at all porssible we will not cruise Carnival again simply do to its mediocrity.

Family Get Together by nana3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I took our two grown sons, their wives and small children ages 21/2 , 5, and 7.  Everyone had a great time. We ate at our tie dining which was great when you try to coordinate 3 families.  We were lucky and had the same wait staff every night which was great.  The were terrific.  We all had the same steward for our rooms, Harold who was great!.  I didn't care for the shows as much as I usually do but that might just be me. I wished there was more variety of activities. Thus was a perfect way for several families to go on a vacation and no one has to cook or clean.

Still good, but quite a few cut-backs by micha

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We cruise every other year, this was our 8th cruise. The ship, food and service were good, no complaints here. However, there have been many cut-backs compared to what Carnival used to offer. No more free drinks at the captain's reception, limited and underwhelming evening entertainment, many activities that used to be free now offered for a charge. The Legend showed many signs of wear and tear and rust, needs some cosmetic updates.

Not too bad... by Mountaineer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second cruise, first with Carnival. After previously sailing with Royal Caribbean, we had pretty high expectations. Boarding was excellent, we breezed through and were on board within 20-30 minutes. We chose to arrive around 11:30 dispute receiving an email from Carnival saying not to arrive before 1:00 in order to prevent a long wait time, which was rather strange.

Our first impression of the Legend was a little low. We had read that they had just undergo a pretty large renovation, which apparently meant that they just put a new thick coat of lacquer on everything, because it had a strong resemblance to an early 90s era Las Vegas hotel and casino. Everything was incredibly dark and gaudy, from the main lobby and atrium to the restaurants and especially the bars and lounges. That being said, the outdoor areas were very nice, especially the upgraded Serenity pool deck for adults.

Our use room was nice and comfortable, however we were very disappointed to have been put in an obstructed view balcony. The balcony looked over the top of a rather large lifeboat, which made an appearance in every picture we took from the balcony. That's what you risk though in booking a guarantee rate instead of a chosen room. However, you could still see plenty, so we made the best of it and did enjoy our stay. The bathroom was a far cry better than the bathroom on the Royal Caribbean ship we had been on previously. It's much easier to shower in a tiny shower with a curtain, rather than a tiny shower with a fixed fiberglass door!

i will say the food on Carnival was very good and pretty comparable to our previous experience. The main dining room was excellent and the servers were great. There was a greater variety of good available throughout the day, than on Royal, however don't expect to find anything more than coffee if you get up at 5-6 to watch the sunrise...

Overall the ports were great. We had stops in Cozumel, Belize City, Roatan and Grand Cayman. Cozumel was beautiful. We took the Island Living history tour, which was a nice air conditioned way to see the island. El Mirador, one of the stops, was breathtaking. Belize City was a little disappointing. The port area is nice enough, with all of the shops (the same you see at every other port) and a few craft stalls, but I don't recommend going beyond the gates. As soon as we stepped out of the gates port area, we were harnessed by every local with a car/bike/horse offering  tours and other things. Mahogany Bay in Roatan was excellent, as was Grand Cayman.

The entertainment options offered on Carnival were fine. Shows most nights based around musical eras/genres were in the main theater, and they had comedians most nights in one of the lounges. The shows were fine, but not the variety or quality of the shows offered by Royal, which were almost Broadway level productions.

The crew members that we met on our trip were very pleasant. Our cabin steward was very nice, as we're our servers in the dining room. However, there was nothing memorable about our experience. One of the most impressive things about our Royal cruise, was that a spa attendant we met on the first day, remembered us by name on the third day, even though we only spent about 15 minutes as a part of a tour. Also, the Royal cruise director and his staff, would take the time to stop and chat with passengers, whereas the Carnival director always acted as if he were in too much of a hurry.

Overall, we enjoyed our cruise on the Carnival Legend. It was a much smaller ship than we had been on previously, which was nice. Many times, we would walk around on some of the upper decks and not see a single other person, which is amazing (and a little eery at night). It is a very nice, budget cruise line , however, I preferred the friendly, airy, spa-like atmosphere of Royal Caribbean.

Carnival Legend by GoldRoyalCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We decided to cruise Carnival because of a great price for a balcony stateroom even though I felt that Carnival had a tarnished reputation.  The Legend is in great shape with a marvelous crew and staff.  The ports of call were great although Roatan Honduras (Carnivals Island retreat) you don't get to experience the Honduras, only some shopping and beach swimming.  There is the dolphin experience, but it is very expensive.  The food on board in the Truffles restaurant was very good, but not outstanding as I've found on Royal Caribbean cruises.  The ship shudders at certain speeds and isn't an issue unless you're trying to sleep and then is very noticeable.  The staff, particularly our room steward, was outstanding. Boarding and leaving the ship in Tampa was quick and streamlined.  We would definitely sail on the Legend again.

Sr. Experience Carnival Legend by elrem2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very freindly, courteous staff as expected. Twin beds together without a KING BED top cushion leaving a speration between mattresses which became uncomfprtable as mattresses moved during night. Otherwise accomadations acceptable for Cabin catagory. Cruise had lack of quality entertainment and most geared to a much younger crowd. No quiet dance music or facility for the older genertaion. Most music durinmg cruise was TOOOOO Loud being more noise than real music. Have cruised other lines with better entertainment, including real stage productions and entertainment for the older traveler. As Sr. citizens would not consider this cruise again nor recomend it to the Older Travelers. Overall enjoyed the general cruise experience and ports of call but in future will seek a Cruise Line or itinerary more geared to the more mature traveler.

We had a great time!!! by rachaellewis315

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We went with another couple, and we suggest bring walkie talkies so you can keep intouch with one another. We kept losing the couple we were with and not knowing where they were. The shows and comedy shows were really good we spent a lot of our time there and we also spent some of our time in the casino. For our next cruise I am going to make sure we have enough money to buy the drink cards, so we don't have to worry about how much alcohol money we are spending and we can have a good time everyday.

Carnival Legend Exotic WesternCaribbean by wstokes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My Son and I took a cruise on the Carnival Legend on May 11th for 7 days. We had a Ocean Suite which was very small with two single Beds small enough for a five year old Child. In front of the Bed's was a picture of a woman with a Sword trying to stab a Deer.So much for a Ocean Suite.

The Service on the Ship was excellent, the Food was superb, especially the Steakhouse, that we visited twice. The emploees there are fantastic, they  make everything so special for everybody and since it was my Birthday on May 15th I became a special lactose free Cake which made me very happy.

My Son William and I had a great time on this Cruise, except the small cabin and the disgusting picture on the wall.            Sincerely, Ms. A Sokes

Good cruise! Would do it again. by jameswd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We (four of us) are loyal Royal Carribean Platinum Members. We decided to give Carnival a chance even though rumors should have kept us away. Well...we we suprised to find that Carnival surpassed RCL in many categories and we will sail Carnival again.

We sailed on the Legend - employees told us they were full and that they never sail with an empty stateroom - we never experienced any cattle shuffling. Unless we were lied to, the ship handled the 2145 guests extremely well.

The only two disappointing categories that RCL far exceded were the entertainment in the main auditorium and the quality and type of choices for main dining.

Entertainment was aweful with no shows that rivaled RCL.

The dining experience was just medium - no WOW factor.

But like I said...we will sail Carnival again.

One last point - management take note - whoever puts Grenada, Barbados, Costa Rico & Domincan Republic together or some assemblance of that will get out business for our next cruise and we do two a year. If all four can't be done then Grand Cayman will work!

Another great Carnival experience by janeclifton5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My group found that the dining room menu/food did not meet the standards of our two previous cruises on Carnival.  We did, however, enjoy the food served on the Lido deck; it was much better than that on the two previous cruises on Carnival.

Entertainment in the showrooms on this cruise was not as enjoyable as our two previous cruises on Carnival.

Our housekeeper did an excellent job.  He was always smiling and was friendly, thoughtful and helpful.

We became acquainted with one of your employees, named Courtney (don't recall her last name). She is a young, attractive American from California.  We saw her performing many different tasks onboard and each time she saw us, she remembered us and talked with us for a few minutes.  She is very friendly and outgoing; she sparkles!  We saw her as we were disembarking and could not resist hugging her and saying goodby.  This lady is truly an asset to Carnival and I predict that she will go a long way with Carnival, or anywhere else she may choose to work in the future.

All interactions with other employees were very pleasant.  Carnival employs excellent people who work hard and do their best to make guests feel welcome.

We enjoyed visiting each port; they were interesting places and we met many interesting local people.

Overall, this was an excellent cruise and I would recommend it to friends.

Thanks, Carnival, for all that you do!

     .

Outstanding crew by donvaughan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a better experience than other Carnivial cruises we went on. Open dining worked out great for us as we ate around 9:15 every night. The service could not have been better in dining room, stateroom or other parts of the ship. We had an oversized balcony on the right side of the ship which we used most of the time. I think the left side would have been better because of the afternoon sun made it too hot a couple of days. We were off the ship by 9:30 on the last day. I am thinking of doing this again last week in May. Make sure your soft drinks taken on the boat have no beer in cartoon. Two twelve packs of cokes were confiscated by TSA because of 2 beers. If you have a handicap tag and a wheelchair carrier or modification on you vehicle parking is free if you ask for it.
