Get the Glory by phyllisrjackson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a wonderful time. My daughter, granddaughter and I shared a balcony cabin. We did not feel cramped at all. The stewards were exceptional. Every wish was met. The cruise staff for the most part were friendly and helpful. I was a little disappointed with the caliber of the performers in the big theatrical shows but the shows were still very good. Cruise director was fun and up beat and very engaging. We loved every port docked at. Over all excellent! I would do it again. A cruise stretches your dollar a very long way. An excellent investment.

Stops were great...boat activities and family time very lacking by cruising6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was the second time our family sailed the glory-first time doing western stops. While this thanksgiving sailing was a MUCH MORE Family friendly crowd (vs. last October which was a drinking party=not best vacation for a family) this boat still lacks in so many areas. Needs an upgrade, on board activities are basically non existent. Many ship areas are dirty, lots of rust and missing paint on upper decks. We selected the late dining as with the early you have to come back on board to wash and get ready for dinner you miss on island time but with the late dinner we missed the only family fun which was family game night show and missed the nightly family/kid movies which started at 7-730. The movies at sea are packed, every showing was "sold out" no chairs available if you weren't there at starting which just goes to show you there is nothing else for people to do if you aren't into the bar or casino scene or if you have kids with you. These movies should be shown in the rooms as well. We found ourselves in the room with nothing to do on a lot of occasions. Days at sea had some rain and then cabin fever really set in. The golf and sports deck closed at 5pm daily when there was 2+ hours of daylight left not to mention LIGHTS could be used. Again leaving little fun things to do. Carnival is a "fun ship"-I guess that only applies to adults who think spending money on bingo, drinks or the casino. If they took away the ice cream I'd say there would have been no "fun" on this ship for families who want to spend time together. We have done carnival the last 2 cruises and after this one it's time to go with another cruise line. I will give them this-they do seem to have the best port of any of the other sailings I was comparing for same sail dates. Just bring lots of entertainment if you are traveling with kids.

Love Cruising by SharonandJohn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Not my favorite cruise experience, but still love cruising.  Was quite disappointed with the food.  And now instead of having certain seafood once or twice during the cruise, could have it every night but cost extra.  Staff very helpful, kind and gracious as ever.

A Fun and Fantastic Time by bonntiffany92

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My husband and I had so much much on and off the boat. It can get a little expensive with drinks and shopping but as long as you know what you can spend your good to go. The excursions were fun, exciting and so different things you wouldn't get to do at home. We made so many memories on this one trip, I don't believe I'll ever forget.

Bumpy ride and a Limited food menu! by steveg691

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The staff was AWESOME!!! The food was the same thing over and over with limited options. If you were eating after 8pm.. You were eating pizza or soft serve ice cream. Very different from any of the other cruises I've been on. The ship was very bumpy at night, and one night was the worse guest were getting sick and stumbling all over the ship. We normally get a picture with the captain.. But the captain failed to attend the meet and greet event.

Very Relaxing by Travelseventies

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were looking for a getaway to just relax and this cruise fit the bill. We enjoyed the meals, the crew was accommodating, and the islands were easy walks from the ship.  We were disappointed in the entertainment - definitely geared to a younger crowd than those that made up the passenger roster.  Really wish that smoking was not permmitted in the casino, or at least had more separation between the areas.  But our stateroom was kept clean, and they acknowledged our anniversary with a bottle of wine and a coupon for the spa. I enjoyed having the adult pool all to myself every morning while I did some water therapy and the pool boy, Juan Carlo was gracious to let me go in while he finished his daily chores.  Our waiters, Peter and Erick, were very entertaining, as well as alert to our needs and wants.

I think the Glory is fast getting in need of a refurbishing but it was just the kind of trip we were needing.

Great cruise for the money by icandy65101

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Carnival Glory is an older ship, but was kept very clean. The nightly entertainment could have been a little better, but we enjoyed what was available. The guests on this cruise were more mature and the entertainment could have been geared toward this crowd. The food was very good, our stateroom was very spacious. We allowed Carnival to pick our room and were nicely surprised to have  a handicapped room which had a huge bathroom. We will definitely cruise with Carnival in the future.

Two Weeks of Glory by Cruiser849

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We arrived at the Miami cruise terminal fairly early, but because we had a suite, we had a special waiting area.  Check in was a breeze and we were on the ship by 11:30am.  We went to see if our room was ready, but it was not.  (was not told it would be, but checked just incase)  We went straight to Guy's Burgers for lunch.

Our suite was very nice with a Jacuzzi tub and dressing room. Cabin Steward took very good care of us.

Food was good as always.  American Table menu was new to us, but we always managed to find something we liked.  We had "Anytime Dining" and that is why we could not give a five star rating.  Service was a problem.  We had to wait over an hour several nights to get a table.  Clearly there was a big problem that didn't seem to get much better.  We were told to wait until after 7:30pm and it wouldn't be so crowded.  People were lining up as early as 5:00pm and the dining room didn't open until 5:45pm.

Entertainment was good.  We didn't go to many shows.  The last night Carnival put on one of the best shows we had ever seen.  70's and 80's Rock performance.  Cast did an outstanding job!!!

The Glory was always clean.  She seems to be in pretty good shape.  Gym was very nice.  We went to the Serenity Deck a few times.  Always found a lounge chair to relax and read.

We went to the White Heat bar several nights to dance, but they were never playing music we wanted to dance to.  DJ apologized and said he had to play what was announced in the program.  No one was on the dance floor.

We participated in the 80's dress up day.  That was a lot of fun.  Had several people ask how we knew about dressing up, guess they didn't check into what all a "Journey Cruise" was all about.

Disembarkment  for us went smooth.  We did hear that there was a problem later in the morning with getting off ship, but we had already left before that happened.

the good the Bad and the Ugly by judierz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

need more theater shows and less comics, the food was good, the Music on the screen by the pool was terrible, London rock, was not Caribbean friendly, we are in the Caribbean so please , Steel drums, Ragae, Jimmy Buffet etc.  Eric Brouman was the best cruise director we have had on all our 90 cruises, and Handayani Hotel stewardess open deck towel station deserved our extra tip!  The DOS band in the Casino was the worst ever and need to go, ASAP, per many cruisers!!Our most favorite was the horse racing, thanks for bringing it back, I told Eric it would be a hit , ( need to go back to groups buying the horses) the ship will make more money this way, and finally the MIDNITE Buffet, was so great, amazing all that talent on one ship, it was my favorite just like throw back Thrusday", if you need me for good bad and ugly, feel free to ask, Happy cruiser!!!😄😄😎😎One more thing, the shuffle board was unuseable, need to fix the deck for playing!,

Carnival Journeys Is the way to go! by cowboy8180

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We took this cruise because of all the great Ports of call! Spending 14 days on the ship was amazing! The crew/staff went out of their way to provide the best service! We loved being able to completely unwind and enjoy the ship due to the length of the cruise!

I can't say enough good things about this trip! There was a down side though, The disco/club was empty every night... Due to the length of the cruise, we understood that not a lot of people our age (Mid 40's) could take that much time off, so the ship was predominately full of Seniors (65 plus), who generally went to bed by 8-9pm (Jazzy and Rascal scooters Parked in the hall LOL). We prefer Carnival Cruise Lines because of the energy of the passengers, and this was a little different, but still enjoyable for us!  We look forward to doing more "Journeys", the ports of call and length of the cruises fit us perfectly! Loved the Ports! by Hansenherd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were on the Carnival Glory for the Western Caribbean cruise on Oct 24-31, 2015.  We have been on one previous Carnival cruise to the Mexican Riviera, as well as on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas.

My favorite part of this cruise was the ports of call.  We had not previously traveled to any of the destinations, so each port was a new experience for us.

In Grand Cayman, we went on a snorkeling tour with Captain Mario and Acquarius Sea Tours that included Stingray City, which was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience! The downside to this tour was that Carnival stays in port for such a short time that we had to cut our snorkeling short and were unable to see one of the sites we had planned to visit.  Captain Mario was very gracious about it and offered us a discount.

In Roatan, we went on an eco-adventure kayak/snorkel tour through Upachaya Resort, which was tiring, but lovely.  Kayaking through the mangroves was peaceful.  It was the snorkeling that was tiring, as our guide took us on quite a lengthy swim to see different parts of the reef.  The drop-off was amazing!  However, I think I would have been content to see less of the reef, and spend more time at some of the locations. The lunch afterward was deliciously fresh and many of the ingredients came from the garden there at Upachaya. The owner, Barbara Wastart, was extremely gracious, even though we held up the tour for an hour (ouch!) due to a misunderstanding on our part as to the start time of the tour.  Thankfully, our tour companions were also gracious about it.

In Belize, we opted for a private tour through Belize Exotic Adventures to see the Xunantunich Mayan ruins.  I was really glad we went with a private tour, because flooding had caused the river to rise too high for vehicles to cross on the ferry, so all the big tour buses had been re-routed to another Mayan site.  We were able to cross the ferry on foot and hike to the ruins, where we were practically the only people there.  The only downside was that we couldn't spend as much time as I would have liked to spend there due to having to return to port so early.  The lunch at a local restaurant afterward was delicious, and we even had a few minutes to shop at the flea market across from the port when we returned.  Our guide, "Alf" was very friendly, knowledgeable, and game to hike to the ruins with us.

In Cozumel, we rented a scooter, toured the island, and did some shopping. Driving a scooter was less scary than I thought it might be, and we had a great time, even though we got a little lost in town. My advice here:  avoid shopping directly across from the port!  The company we rented our scooter from, JM Rentals, had great advice on where (and where not) to shop, and also gave us a map that was very useful.

The Glory itself is older, but I liked the muted decor, which was much better than the garish decor we had experienced on our previous Carnival cruise.  My biggest pet peeve was how hard it was to navigate the ship.  Even on the main dining levels, it was extremely difficult to get from one end of the ship to the other.  We learned that the easiest way to do so was on the cabin levels, which was annoying.  I was also disappointed that there was no level that allowed you to walk completely around the perimeter of the ship.  I was stuck doing my morning walks on a track where a mile was 9 laps - ugh!  It also tended to get a bit crowded since it was so small.  The people trying to jog were especially frustrated.

Overall, I would recommend this cruise based on the itinerary.  However, if I ever decide to go on another Western Caribbean cruise, I will try another cruise line.  Carnival keeps their time in port ridiculously short.  I think it's so they can line their own pockets and keep people from doing tours outside of Carnival.  Locals are not fond of Carnival cruise lines.

Western wonder by luvbuick

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really  enjoyed  our  trip  to  the  western  carribbean. We would  suggest  every  one  do at least  one  cruise  in their  life. The  experience  is breath  taking. Pictures  just  do  not  tell  the  whole  story, and they  look  like  post  cards. There  was  so much  to  do  on the  boat  that  we  could  not  keep  up. Loved the  shows and games. Our  cruise  director was great, not sure  where  he  got  all  his  energy  from  but it was  welcomed  on  a  daily  basis. It's amazing  how  you  couldn't  even  tell  that  the  ship  was  moving. (Smooth  sailing).  Thanks  for  your  help  and  we  are  now  starting  to  plan  our  next  trip  with  family. I  will  be  contacting  you  in  the  near  future.

Thanks  again,

The Currys

Western Caribbean Cruise by shawna729

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise was great.  The weather was great.  Great excursions.  Great food.  I just wish they offered more workout classes that were free instead of having to pay so much for a class.  When you are on a ship eating as much food as is available, you need to get in a good workout.  There isn't enough equipment nor classes to cover everyone trying to workout.  Other than that, it was perfect.

Spend money elsewhere by kimberliecthoma

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cruise could have been carefree and epic if it weren't for the hidden fees and sole agenda of Carnival in getting you to spend your money and waste your time.

Bait And Switch

All week we were baited with goodies like free spa services, free or discounted jewelry, money giveaways and such.

Only there was never any agenda to give anything...spa services were never raffled...free jewelry was "made in China"...?!

We were supposed to cruise to Grand Turks...we never saw passed the "erected" false island of stores and bars. There was no Grand Turks...not unless you ventured out on your own passed the gate and massive parking lot to attempt to flag a non-descript taxi somewhere. We had no maps, no tour guides, no idea how to "get out".  Just another "Half Moon Cay" location designed to infiltrate the wallet.

As as far as Cruises Only... I am greatly disappointed that none of what I was sold was what I experienced. My agent told me all the fees were included in the cost. Wrong. I had to pay additional for ground transportation to and from ship. Agent sold me on getting airfare with the cruise to ensure any incidents would be covered. Sure, if you enjoy traveling for 12 hours after your vacation since Carnival will find the cheapest undesirable itinerary with no regard to the traveler. I had to spend extra money to "stand-by" for earlier flights because I was scheduled for departure after 5pm with a 3 hour layover?! The cruise was over by 10:30. My feet were on the ground luggage in hand at 10:30 AM. What person would book themselves this way??

I will never use Cruises Only again simply because ALL of this aggravation could have been avoided had there been full disclosure.
