5 day Cruise by JacquelineH2

Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cape Canaveral was a good port for getting on and off the ship . The cabins were average , the ship although older was well kept and clean . The cabin staff were excellent, but the food was poor and usually cold and choice of vegetables and desserts was poor.

AN EXCELLENT VACATION by Barbara23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

THE ELATION SHIP IS AN OLDER SHIP THAT WAS UPDATED IN 2002. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE NEWER CRUISE SHIPS THAT ARE NICER AND HAVE ALL THE LATEST AND GREATEST, BUT WITH ALL THIS IN MIND, THE ELATION IS WONDERFUL. I HAD PLENTY TO DO, PLENTY TO SEE. THE FOOD WAS ABUNDANT AND GOOD. THE SHOWS AND ATTRACTIONS WERE ABUNDANT AND GOOD. I GUESS I COULD HAVE WENT ON THE LATEST AND GREATEST, BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER CONSIDERING HOW BUSY I STAYED, TALKING TO OTHER VACATIONERS, SEEING SHOWS EATING, SHOPPING, TOURING, EXPLORING ETC. I HAD A CRUISE I WILL ALWAYS LOOK BACK ON AND SMILE. I TOOK LOTS OF PICTURES AND MY FAMILY AND I ARE PLANNING OUR NEXT CRUISE.

Great memories from a good crusie. by MeganB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We recently sailed on Elation to Freeport and Nassau Bahamas. This was our second cruise and our first time on Carnival. We had a very easy and quick time getting on the ship and had an ok lunch at Tiffanies. I thought the ship was very different than the last ship we sailed on in that it wasn't as open in the grand atrium and seemed slightly dark comapired to the ship we were on with royal caribbean. The shower in our room was a nice size and the beds were very comfortable. The ports of call were made to be a lot more than they actually were. We went to a seminar about shopping in nassau and it actually ended up being a complete waste of time as it really did not give any info other than tourist traps and diamonds. The breakfast buffet was always the same thing which was a dissappointment. I would have liked to have a bit of variety like changing the kind of potatos or eggs each morning. The crew was very friendly and very helpful. The shows were great! I enjoyed the variety and the dancing. We also like the drink prices as $4 was reasonable for a drink. The sushi bar was also a good touch as we had the very late dinner seating so it ws nice to have a snack before then. I felt seasick several times as we spent a lot of time rocking back and forth. The crusie was good I would say it met my expectations but did not exceed them. I would reccomend this ship as a weekend getaway.

A Perfect First Cruise by CynthiaW12

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was beautiful, the crew were professional. courteous, friendly and very good at their jobs. The cabins and bathrooms were much larger than we expected and very comfortable. The food was great and plentiful(the only complaint was they had lousy iced tea). The activities and shows onboard were very good. We loved the many observation decks. The pool was pretty small and crowded. Everything was kept very clean and our cabin steward and headwaiter ver great!

Our first Cruise by JordanD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My first cruise. We had a good time but us and many others were confused on how to dress most nights. Some people at same table had on suits and some jeans. Cigar smoke in lounge above dining room oppresive. Buffet table not immpresive. Don't know why you stop at Freeport theres nothing there. We were charged for water and sodas in our room we never used. And a $40. gratuity on each of our fun passes.

First Cruise by AnnR1

Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

As this was my first cruise, all my expectations were met. The crew was very helpful. The room, while not large, was bigger than I thought it would be.There were always clean towels. When the sheets were turned down for the night, tha next day's schedule was right there.

New Year's Bash by MelissaD3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a wonderful way of bringing in the new year. The shows and activities available on the cruise were wonderful. I highly recommend using the Spa. There services were not too expensive and it was a wonderful relaxing experience. The staff was a pleasure to deal with and made our experience one to remember.

A good vacation by JohnT20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall I enjoyed the cruise. Two aspects that did not impress me were the menu choices at the dinner meal and the rudeness of other passengers (for example - running down the hallways, loud talking in the hallways (both late at night), passengers not following the directions of the crew during the initial safety briefings). However, I will overlook those and rate this cruise as good. The ship is in fine shape, the ports were enjoyable and the activities both on and off ship were appropriate and fun. I liked the padded running track - easy on the knees and ankles. The Gym/Spa were in great shape as well.

A bit disappointed by JohnH28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship Elation was disappointing. There needs to be some renovations. The stateroom itself was kept very clean by the stateroom attendant and the beds were very comfortable. I found the staff outside of our waiter in the dining room and the stateroom attendant, to be very unfriendly. The food in the Lido lounge, the buffet, was very bland and not a big variety. I have been on other cruise lines, Royal Carribean and Norweigan, and this cruise line was very disappointing in comparison. I will not travel with Carnival again. The agent that booked my cruise was very helpful and when I had to make a name change on the booking it was a very smooth process. I would recommend to take the public transportation and visit sites on your own as opposed to the excursions. The excursions are very expensive and your are huddled in a crowd and rushed through. A taxi in Nassau was $4.00 and took us to Atlantis where for a small fee you can stay all day and use the ammenities. A must see if you travel to Nassau. The entertainment on board the ship was fine and the family enjoyed karaoke. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this cruise as a 3.

Wouldn't recommend it by Jackiem1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This ship was overall very nice but a bit run down. There was painting and repair work going on all through out the entire cruise. The room was a nice size and very comfortable offering a tv with a good selection of channels. The entertainment was okay, nothing too exciting. We found ourselves in our room watching movies more than I would have liked to have been. There really weren't very many activities going on day or night. We found ourselves very bored at times. I chose this cruise for the price and it definetly showed in the quality of food. The quality of food and selection was horrible! Pizza, hamburgers and hotdogs were about all you could find to eat during the day. The sit down dinning had a better selection but don't be surprised if you find yourself sending back your food a time or two or more.

Great Cruise - Tips for Wheelchair Users by StaceyS3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We just returned from a 4 night cruise on the carnival elation deparing out of Port Canaveral. The parking at the port was extremely easy, as we would be returning to a different dock, the port offered complimentary valet parking. Embarking the ship was easy, as my husband is in a wc and we were taken to the front of the line. Once arriving at our cabin we were presently surprised at the size of the cabin. We did have a handicapped room and opted to keep the beds as twins to give us more room for the wheelchair. The bathroom was a little tight, but we were able to make it work. The shower had a pull-down shower bench in it. The ship is very wheelchair accessible. My only complaint is that other than the bathroom in our cabin, the only one that appeared large enough for a wheelchair was the unisex bathroom on the lido deck. Our ports of call were Freeport and Nassau. My husband did not get off the boat in Freeport since we had to take a taxi to the tourist area and they didn't appear to be WC accessible. He did get off the boat in Nassau (very steep gangway, but the crew was quick to help. ) Nassau is wc accessible, if you are willing to put up with some bumpy roads. All in all, it was a great first cruise and very accessible.

A wonderful and relaxing cruise by WilmaH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We just cruised on the Carnival Elation for the first time and we absolutely loved it. The ship was always so clean and our room service made sure that every time that we came back to our room it would be immaculate. The food was terrific but our waiting staff was even better. The bed at the Penthouse Suite was heavenly. First time that I sleep like a baby away from home. The balcony offered wonderful moments of relaxation. We're planning our next Carnival cruise already.

Higher Expectations by RaymondA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was impressed with the service that I received from the cleaning of the room to the evening dinner. The ship appeared to be dirty especially in the dining areas. I recall on one ocassion, after cleaning off my table prior to being seated for breakfast, the table smelled like it had been cleaned with a dirty dish rag.
