Nice Cruise by JeanneM7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The service of the ship was fine. The dining room service was great!! The stateroom service was fine. The POOL is so small I did not go in. By the pool side once again kids all over and not relaxing. Wrong ship to relax on!! THe noise at night 10-1am in the hallway is un-exceptable...No one controlled the kids running and yelling. We are not the only cabin with that problem. I have kids but would not allow them to run all over the place. The idea of the kids getting together to meet pals is great, but the teens' behavior most of the time is-----not good. The last night around 1-1:30AM the teens were running, yelling and laughing, getting room service and out of control. I had to tell them to "shut up" I lost sleep and woke up tired- I had to go to work that day (noon). IF this is what Carnival Elation Cruise is all about, I will not recommend it to any of my family and friends. Wrong ship to enjoy my vacation on. This is several women's opinion

Experienced Crusier by JoanneG2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

It was a good experience getting on the ship, the service was excellent and the crew was polite and respectful. The food servers were great and always willing to give us more food. The food was excellent and the ship was always clean. Not thrilled with the photography on ship. Seemed like the kids were out of control, not sure where there parents were. Would not take another cruise with kids on board. I would cruise an all adult or singles. By the way, I have two children that would not behave like some of the kids on the ship.

so so cruise by Tim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Let me preference these comments with the fact we were older (55yrs) first time cruisers. Over all though the ship board functions ran smoothly you get the impression it is all a big show to get you on board to sell you everything and anything the management can think of. A small bottle of water handed to you is $2.25 plus automatic15% gratuity. Stateroom service was good however we had a problem with our room lock at 1:0O am one evening (yes old people do stay up late) an hour later after being unable to get help form either room service number (no answer after many rings on several tries) or front desk (they would send someone who never showed) I made three trips to the front desk to be issued new pass cards (two) when these did not work desk staff came down with me being unable to open the door themselves they eventually arranged to have a person with a manual pass key open the jammed lock. Now had there been a stateroom attendant on duty or if the front desk staff would have surmised I know when my pass card is not working and sent someone with another card to evaluate the problem this would not have been a big deal but sitting on floor of a hallway in formal cloths for an hour with people stepping over you while waiting for responses from non existing service people is not a pleasant even and not a nice cruise experience. On another service note the ringer on our phone was not working (yes I did check to see if the ringer was turned up) and though we reported it twice it never was fixed so we were unable to call each other in the room for the duration of the trip. The moral of the story is when there are over 900 staff 198 (as noted in their literature )who are drink collectors i.e. staff who collect your money for premixed dinks, it would be to much to expect a couple of front desk staff on duty one of which could come and help you on a problem. Other things of note, pools way to small with cold salt water less swimming more drinking. Music was very loud Latin beat most of the time. No shaded areas only full sun. Food and wait service was very good in main dinning rooms fair to poor in self service area. Though there are smoking and non smoking areas there seemed to be smoke drifting by every where. State room were nice, nothing special. We were mid deck mid ship very stable with not much inner room noises. Large outside cabin window was nice. The bath and shower area was larger then I expected. Entertainment on board was above average, main theater to small for the number of people on board, 2500+. Get there early and sit though bingo to have a good seat. Or is it they have the bingo games knowing they have a captive seat holding audience before the show so best make a buck. There are many other areas where bingo could be staged for those who enjoy bingo but then at $10 per game card it may take a captive audience. So great cruise if you are looking for a carnival atmosphere, like crowds, loud music, wish a constant bombardment of environment stimuli, with average service and quality of hospitality being forced on you. If you are wishing for a relaxed kickback, self motivated cruise with quality service and entertainment when you wish for or need it in the background then look else where. One cruise line can not meet everyones needs even though they like to present themselves that way.

Awsome Trip by RichardK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

This was the most amazing experience of my life. The food was great. It was like eating $100 meals every night. You can order as many portions as you wish. The deserts were great and the atmosphere was really good. The staff was really fun. Their is a lot of gambling on the ship so if you have a gambling problem dont go on this ship. Bingo was fun but expensive and they have a casino. The limits are low the first night but double the second night. They even have face up blackjack. Thats where you actully see the dealers cards. (ties are won by the dealer). Dont miss the horse races!

Positive experience, people got along great with each other. Crew was friendly and offered good advice. Dinning room staff was terrific. Always reliable food recommendations and excellent pacing of food items. And singing & dancing (waiters) added to the fun!

Miserable Trip - I disembarked by MikeK14

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

I don't have that much of an opinion on the ship as I was only on it about two days before I disembarked in Cabo. It seems okay. I guess it was clean. I've never been on any other cruise so I can't compare it to anything else.

Sailing Just Wasn't Our Thing by DianeB2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship was not an issue at all. I am a non-drinker and we found every activity we joined in the evening was to get loaded. We went to some classes and some Bingo but everything in the evening was a drunken bash. That's fine for those who enjoy it, but I found it tedious maneuvering through the drinkers and having drinks and ashes knocked onto me.

A perfect cruise! by KarenV24412759

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship had almost everything you could possibly want or need. The stunning beauty of the ship itself continues to amaze you daily. The easy access to food and drinks made you feel at home, only better! The rooms were always kept clean and welcoming despite I might be a sloppy person.

Mediocore cruise by LynelleG

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The Elation was a nice enough ship and the cabins were roomy and convenient. There were two of us in an inside cabin and I never felt clostrophobic. The rooms were well tended to by the housekkeeping staff. The entire staff was friendly and always ready with a cheerful "hello". The staff in the casual dining room was incredible. They cleaned the tables as soon as someone left and left it clean with clean utensils wrapped inside a clean, cloth napkin. The thing I didn't like were the children who were allowed to run up and down the hallways and jumping off the stairs. This occurred throughout our cruise. I also felt that the pool was too small for the size of ship.

First cruise and very impressed! by JenniferD7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

We were first time cruisers and were impressed. We enjoyed the activity choices overall or the freedom to just hang out. Plenty of space, decent overall service, with exceptional dining room service. Silvio and "Z" from Croatia made our cruise so much more enjoyable. At the end of the cruise, all six of us agreed, the highlight was dinner and seeing Silvio and Z. Plus, the food was exceptional!

We had a great time! by MeredithD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

There is not much bad I can say about our cruise. The room was always kept clean, our room steward was great. All three of my kids had a good time and that is a difficult task. The food was good in the dining room, plenty of variety. We loved our waiter. There is really nothing bad or negative I can say, the Elation was a great ship!

Carnival Elation A Sad Story by AT624

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Starting at embarking the ship we were treated rudely by employees of Carnival. Paid $90 for the unlimited soda cards for my 3 kids and the were ROUTINELY ignored when the would go to get a drink. Employee of the Internet cafe looking at inappropriate material every time my family was there. Food quality was ok but consistently cold and found hair in it on numerous occasions. Swimming pool was so small that it was a joke. Will NEVER sail on CArnival again.

Good but different. by JeremyC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was the last cruise that the elation made to the caribbean ports of call, but to those of you out there that will be traveling with the Elation out of San Diago...The Elation staff were good, the stateroom attendant more so than the dinner staff. We cruised last year on the Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas and prefer the service and dining of RC over Carnival. 2 of the 5 nights the food was so bad I didn't eat it. We did arrive late to all of the 3 ports, which was aggrivating, and embarrising to the captain and his crew. Otherwise the entertainment was average, and the boat the same.
