We loved the cruise and the itinerary with the many islands, and the service was very good, but there were some shortcomings.   For instance, every day, after arriving back on the boat, there was always a long line and wait for the buffet, and the staff would never open the other side of the buffet to relieve congestion.   Also, there was never any food served on the pool area level, such as we have seen on other cruises, so the only option was the buffet.   Additionally, the buffet never had any ketchup (must have been a shortage), and the staff would always point you to other possible places where ketchup was available (this happened daily).   The ice cream that was available on the pool area deck was never cold, and they would only turn 1 of the 3 available options on (vanilla, chocolate, or mix) at any one time....so the machine was always trying to catch up.   The overall food was good, but I have had better food on other cruises, and was not impressed.   The pool area deck had limited entertainment as well (I only seem to remember music there on the last day, while at sea).   The ship is very nice, including a very nice inside promenade and adult swim area.   I only saw one show, in the promenade area, and always seemed to miss shows in the theater...and I think that was because there may have been only one show per night...hard to say.    I would take this cruise again, but mostly for the great itinerary.

Excellent trip by leblancbusa

Great itinerary and everything went smoothly. Only knock was lack of coffee cups and silverware in the Windjammer Cafe on multiple occasions. Very unusual for RCR based in past cruises with them, but awesome overall.

Adventure of the Seas by dmcole

Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our trip was on the Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas. It received some upgrades in 2014, however they apparently didn't upgrade the servers for wireless. The internet package was pretty expensive, however the server went down several times and we were unable to access the wireless. We did not receive credit. We bought the drink package ($399.00), but the drinks seemed to be watered down quite a bit so it was not worth the money. The ports were all very nice, however this was the first trip to Martinique so guest services didn't have much information. The food was just ok. I had always heard it was better than Carnival, I'm not sure I agree with that. The crew was very nice and there were some standouts, but it seemed like most of the crew was just going through the motions. They didn't seem very happy.

Finding a peaceful place in this chaotic world by reuillen

Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our Caribbean cruise to the West Indies was amazing.  We enjoyed the variety of the stops and the beauty of these islands.  The ship was clean and cool and the food was delicious.  We especially enjoyed the small suite and the privileges it gave us in boarding like avoiding the long, long line.  We used our bonus 200 points we received for scheduling this cruise to pay for one of our island excursions.  We took a train ride and double decker bus ride around the island.

The ship crew was courteous and helpful.  We found peace for our hectic life sitting on our balcony and enjoying the at-sea time and even the port time, watching the activities on the dock.  We are very pleased with Royal Caribbean and will sail with them again.  Great trip

Our Latest Cruise Adventure by Cruiser852

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our stateroom was very nice, but most of all, the room attendant was fantastic.  His name was Donald and I felt he was almost invisible until we needed something.  Like magic, he was there when needed and took care of whatever it was we wanted.   Personally, we prefer the early seating with a table of 6; to me, more than six makes it difficult to carry on any dinner conversation.  We were originally assigned to a table of 8, but a quick visit to the Maitre de solved the problem and we were reassigned to a table of 6.  We had great dinner companions.

The ship was clean and the restrooms were clean.  On this cruise, we all had to deal with several rain showers, however after each shower, the deck crew was right out there mopping up and drying the lounge chairs.

Overall, our cruise was wonderful.  Even a bad day (which we did not have) on a cruise is way better than a good day at work.  The only negatives that probably relate to me personally as as follows.  I am a short person.  I wondered who on earth decided to install urinals in the men's room at the height they were.   Smoking is allowed in the  casino, therefore we did not spend much time there.

Disappointed at sea by plowpartsman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Adventure of the Seas ship was not up to my expectations.  The food in the

main dining room was mediocre at best.  The food on the Lido Deck was below

par every day.  Not a very big selection at all in either dining experience.  The

staff on the ship was excellent and the ports of call were wonderful.  The shows

which we saw two were just OK.  In the future I think I will try a different cruise line. The casino had rude dealers and staff.  Compared to Vegas they do not

even compare.  Trying to do well at blackjack was a disaster.

I was a little disappointed with Royal Caribbean not giving the little perks like they usually do. Also the regular band music was not on every day. I was also expecting more Indian type food.

Horrible Pier/Onboarding Crew by elamdominique

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was not my first time cruising with Royal Caribbean, but I must say this was the first time I started the cruise with a bad taste in my mouth.  It took me 5 hours to board the ship because of the Pier/Onboarding crew (Pier manager-  brunette Hispanic female, Pier Coordinator- Shawn- black male, and Cruise nurse- Red head Hispanic female).  They insisted on denying me the right to board the ship because I was "honest" on the onboarding form and checked that I had experienced medical issues within 7 days of the cruise.  They would not listen to me, nor look at the medicine bottle which contained antibiotics for a SINUS INFECTION!  I had to argue with them for 2 hours and called my doctor's office to fax medical documentation of the sinusitis that I had the week before (I was on the last 3 days of a 10-day antibiotic).   The nurse repeatedly lied and said she was in charge when I knew she was only an RN and could not make the decision for a MD.  I had to repeatedly ask to speak with the doctor and was not allowed to board until the doctor came and I had my doctor's nurse on the phone explaining the side effects of the antibiotics and that I had (past tense) a sinus infection that was clear by then.  They caused us to miss lunch and dinner on the boat the first day. Also, I was so stressed, upset, and drained, I got on the boat, took a shower and went to sleep.  That's definitely not a good way to start a birthday cruise that I almost did not make because of the nonchalant behavior of the San Juan crew mentioned above.  It took me 2 days to calm down.  The great thing about the cruise was definitely the wonderful dining room, windjammer, café, cruise director's entertainment (Erick, Carlos, Niya), and housekeeping (Norma) staff!  They made the trip much better.  However, I was highly disappointed overall with the Pier Crew!

An Okay Cruise by lgrigar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ports of call are great, but the ship is looking very haggard as it is scheduled for a badly needed refurb in spring of 2016. The rooms have missing screws on the doors, stains on the carpet and chairs. Shower handles have cracked chrome that can cut one as they shower. The evening entertainment & dining rooms are great, but watch out for the Windjammer. The Windjammer buffet features cold and off temperature food, not a good mix. I wouldn't sail on the Adventure of the Seas ship again. Cruise directer is great and does all he can to cover the gaps.

Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our first cruise. We had a wonderful time. We used the ultimate drink package offered by Royal Caribbean and it was perfect for us. We enjoyed the food especially at Giovanni's Table. We did four excursions and they were great. So happy Cruises Only helped us set this up. I would do it again.Happy

Worst Vacation Ever by hawks1998

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I hat giving negative reviews, but this was by far the worst trip I have had.  Instead of being on a nice relaxing cruise we were continually being pushed to buy a next cruise, which was tacky.  Next we will talk about the food, or maybe I shouldn't, anyway it was in a word terrible and tasteless. We gave the main dinning room two nights and it didn't get any better.  So we decided to pay the $25 per head cover charge per person to go to Giovonis table.  The food was a little better, but again we had to pay extra.... wait what pay extra for food on a cruise??  The rest of the time we went to Windjammer, where it looked like everyone else did also.  Next we will talk about the drink package.  When I inquired about it they made it sound like there were drink stations all over the ship, that is simply not the case.  I paid $150 for 7 days and wound up only getting 5 drinks of soda, your welcome Royal Caribbean.

Now for the show stopper we shelled out for the Owners Suite for this cruise and let me be the first to say it was an awesome cabin.  HOWEVER, on the second day of the cruise we came back from our shore excursion we were welcomed with the great smell of wet paint and varnish.  Seriously they decided to paint and varnish the balcony while we were gone.  I proceeded to guest services and waited an hour to speak with someone, where I was given the response that it should clear out once we set sail.....wow!!  At this point I escalated and maintenance came with a device that would clean the air.  Of course during this time we had to leave our cabin for an hour.

I hate to be so negative so I will end on a positive note.  Our cabin steward was excellent and seemed to be the only one who cared about us.  Needless to say we will never sail on Royal Caribbean again!

Not a typical Royal Caribbean cruise by barbbuff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I was really disappointed with the guest services on this cruise ship.  The ship is older and needs a lot of updates.  The stateroom attendant was great, dinning staff a little pushy, but did a good job.  I have been on 8 Royal Caribbean cruises, this by far was not my favorite.  I will not travel on anymore of the older cruise ships, just the newer ones.

Adventures of the seas by debrajarman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Overall the cruise was great and I would do it again. Just one sore spot hostess at dinner was not very accommodating (deck 5). She was crabby at best. We ask to change our reservation from 6:30 to 7:00 and she gave us a lecture on how we were already booked at 6:30 and we could not just show up at a later time so much so that we did not go back for 2 days to eat in the dinning room. We were with another couple that also missed out dining in the Dining room for 2 night

Still enjoyable, but quality seems to be declining by ridgelm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

this is my second cruise with Royal Caribbean and my 8th cruise overall.  The last time with RCCL was in 2006.  The itinerary of this trip was great.  The times of the islands allowed for a good opportunity to enjoy each port.  The service and the staff were excellent as always.  The decline was with the hours and quality of the food - particularly in the buffet venue.  The dinners in the main dining room continued to be superb.  The breakfast buffet was subpar.  it is simply unacceptable to serve powdered eggs and French toast, pancakes and fried potatoes that were so dry and hard on occasion as to appear to have been leftover (and left out) from the day before.  Additionally, with the sailing times, (we left port at 5 or 6 pm most days) it was difficult to grab a light snack if you were not dining until later, as the only option was a pay venue (Johnny Rockets) or the café promenade which is a small venue offering only pizza and sandwiches and this on a ship of over 3000 passengers.

I also found the evening entertainment in the theater to be lacking in quality compared to previous cruises.  Although there were other options such as the variety of movies and other activities.

All of that being said, this was still a wonderful and enjoyable trip, but I would probably look back to Norwegian in the future before Royal Caribbean again.

My family and I had a really good time. St Maarten was the best, especially for shopping. The caves in Barbados were also very cool. Really enjoyed ourselves.
