Review summary
this is my second cruise with Royal Caribbean and my 8th cruise overall. The last time with RCCL was in 2006. The itinerary of this trip was great. The times of the islands allowed for a good opportunity to enjoy each port. The service and the staff were excellent as always. The decline was with the hours and quality of the food - particularly in the buffet venue. The dinners in the main dining room continued to be superb. The breakfast buffet was subpar. it is simply unacceptable to serve powdered eggs and French toast, pancakes and fried potatoes that were so dry and hard on occasion as to appear to have been leftover (and left out) from the day before. Additionally, with the sailing times, (we left port at 5 or 6 pm most days) it was difficult to grab a light snack if you were not dining until later, as the only option was a pay venue (Johnny Rockets) or the café promenade which is a small venue offering only pizza and sandwiches and this on a ship of over 3000 passengers.
I also found the evening entertainment in the theater to be lacking in quality compared to previous cruises. Although there were other options such as the variety of movies and other activities.
All of that being said, this was still a wonderful and enjoyable trip, but I would probably look back to Norwegian in the future before Royal Caribbean again.
