First Time On Viking by Cruella323

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir

Viking knows how to do it. NO casinos or fancy shows. Instead, you get to experience each port on foot, with an experienced guide. Even in the short time you have, you get to see and do A LOT! Highly recommend

A Great and Moving Experience by mikegarwood

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir

Many of the tours are walking tours that last at least 1.5 miles. There are "leisure" tour groups, but the tours are not that leisurely if you are older and not in great shape. Many of the tours stopped short of the bus or the ship and left you to find your way back. We always did, but we sweated getting lost, being old and unfamiliar. The ship was like a luxurious refuge which magically transported us from destination to destination with no apparent feeling of motion. We loved it!!!

Good food & service, poor excursions by guskin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir

Viking is an excellent cruise line. However, the shore excursions for this trip left a great deal to be desired.

because of our age..wife and I are 73.. we would have appreciated a little more lounging time. we wanted to see everything and liked the idea of 1,2,3, ratings of guided tours, but perhaps during tours we would have a choice..ie during an extended tour (2+ hours) allow breakaway groups.

Bring very casual and comfortable clothes, and, of course super comfortable shoes. The streets are all cobble stone, very uneven surface, sneakers would work the best. Wear layers, so you can easily remove something or put on, as in the morning it can be plain cold, much warmer later on in a day.

Viking is very casual. It was cool to cold in Europe and raining several days. Just dress in layers and bring a rain jacket of some type. Viking provided umbrellas for every cabin if desired. Lots of walking if you take the included excursions. Demanding but not overly difficult.
