Review summary

Many of the tours are walking tours that last at least 1.5 miles. There are "leisure" tour groups, but the tours are not that leisurely if you are older and not in great shape. Many of the tours stopped short of the bus or the ship and left you to find your way back. We always did, but we sweated getting lost, being old and unfamiliar. The ship was like a luxurious refuge which magically transported us from destination to destination with no apparent feeling of motion. We loved it!!!

Embarkation

We had to walk a loong way at the Amsterdam airport to find the Viking Representatives. Once we found them, everything was easy and they were very helpfull.

Food and Dining

Gluten free was a little bit of trouble until we got the hang of telling our waiter at each meal. They were very helpful, and the food was excellent.

Onboard Activities

Just big enough. Loved the view from our balcony. It was well worth it.

Ports of call

Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Canal Cruise was our favorite shore excursion. A chance to see places we would not have seen walking.

Hoorn, Netherlands

Walking tour was excellent, a bit strenuous if not in great shape.

Dordrecht, Netherlands

Great historical buildings still in use on the canals.

Rotterdam, Netherlands

Loved the ship's cruise through Rotterdam Harbor at night. Very impressive.

Kinderdijk, Netherlands

Getting to go inside an active windmill was special. Seeing rows of them in action was awesome.

Nijmegen, Netherlands

We went on the WW2 tour, and the cemetery and museum were very moving. The graves were immaculate, and maintained by local families, with a lengthy waiting list. It was a foggy, misty, rainy day to boot, so really enhanced the somberness of the area. We wished we could have spent more time at the Freedom Museum.

Maastricht, Netherlands

Our favorite town. Wished we could spend more time there. Church with arched roof with MANY books, so many books, so little time.

Antwerp, Belgium

Fun. More commercial than any of other visits. Took walking tour, had to walk quite a ways to get back to the bus. Went by thousand years old castle.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Everything was set up well for our disembarkation and shuttle to the airport.
