First Time On Viking by Cruella323

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir

Viking knows how to do it. NO casinos or fancy shows. Instead, you get to experience each port on foot, with an experienced guide. Even in the short time you have, you get to see and do A LOT! Highly recommend

A Great and Moving Experience by mikegarwood

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir

Many of the tours are walking tours that last at least 1.5 miles. There are "leisure" tour groups, but the tours are not that leisurely if you are older and not in great shape. Many of the tours stopped short of the bus or the ship and left you to find your way back. We always did, but we sweated getting lost, being old and unfamiliar. The ship was like a luxurious refuge which magically transported us from destination to destination with no apparent feeling of motion. We loved it!!!

Good food & service, poor excursions by guskin

Ship: Viking Kvasir

Viking is an excellent cruise line. However, the shore excursions for this trip left a great deal to be desired.

Beautiful castles! by rober53184

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir / Destination: River Cruises - Europe

We had believed the Viking TV commercials and expected a much more intimate upscale cruise. We are experienced cruises and have had much better food, entertainment and relationships with the crew on much larger ships. The high point of this cruise is the one day cruise past all the castles.

Cruise Review by csmrtd1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir / Destination: Europe

Cruise was great, , ship was very nice, staff was outstanding.  I would suggest taking this cruise from south to north.  This would give you more time in port, however don't miss a tour n Amsterdam.

The nice thing about river cruising is that there are a maximum of 200 guests which makes all things , including meals much more manageable.

The food was great as usual.

Best cruise vacation we've been on and arguably our best vacation ever.   Viking is superb with cuisine and staff.  Shore excursions were stimulating and well prepared.   Very impressed with level of service.   Would recommend cruise line enthusiastically   Look forward to our next opportunity

Nice and relaxing by Valeryand

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Kvasir / Destination: River Cruises - Europe

We sailed from Amsterdam to Basel in the end of May! It was a very nice and relaxing vacation. We stayed for 2 days in Amsterdam before cruise. And I recommend it highly. Not only because Amsterdam is such lovely and very different city. But it also helps you to get over your jet lag, that is, of course, lf you fly from US. The ship is great, very clean, contemporary interior design, done in pastel pleasing colors. State rooms are tiny, but very comfortable. Service is impeccable, the cru is wonderful, just terrific people, everyone of them. Soooo pleasant and extremely accomodating, it looks like they absolutely love what they do. FOOD! Food is fantastic! Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Coffee and little baked snacks are always available for you in a lobby. We enjoyed all inclusive excursion, and took 2 optional, Mercedes Benz factory (Phenomenal!!!) and Town of Colmar(Magic). The only thing I object is the timing of the excursions. Much much too early! And the ship most of the time does not live until very late. To me, that was the only detrimental point. At night, after dinner in a lounge, it is very nice to relax, have a drink, listen to the music and dance a little. You don't feel like going to bed early. Getting up in the morning at 7 am is not my ideal vacation. Of course we did and went to see every beautiful place, I think we have not gotten more then 5, 6 hours of sleep. This is the only thing I would change.  If it were up to me. In Basel we also stayed for 2 days, and it is good idea too. We were there before, but to come such a long way, it seemed not right to go home straight from the ship. Altogether it was very enjoyable trip. I am sure you,ll love it just like we did!

Above expectations by stevesexplore

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Viking Kvasir / Destination: Europe

This was our first Viking cruise (previously used Avalon) and our groupof 16 was delighted with the service, crew, ports, and food.  Rooms, as usual on a river boat cruise, are very small but you shouldn't spend that much time in them anyway.

Many of the tours guides will probably go into more detail about the sites than you want, so do not be concerned about going out on your own.

We rented a car in Strassbourg with another couple and did a fantastic wine tour on our own.

We'd go again.

great by morris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Viking Kvasir / Destination: Europe

this was our second river cruise and by far the best. food was outstanding and the people hired by Viking were most helpful and most important to me..they really enjoyed what they were doing. On most vacations the personnel are, in fact, part of your experience and become personal by knowing your name, likes, and expectations.

the personnel on this ship, this cruise, all seemed to enjoy which made me enjoy knowing both myself and my wife were being taken care of and not taken advantage of. Too often, and we have traveled most of our 73 years, the personnel are working under duress and show it. Not so, on this cruise. I appreciate what can be done as a company to make my vacation memorable, but it is the personnel that must implement the expense of top Chef's, cruise directors, and top management decisions making.

I keep forgetting the name of the ship..but not Viking.
