Review summary

Viking knows how to do it. NO casinos or fancy shows. Instead, you get to experience each port on foot, with an experienced guide. Even in the short time you have, you get to see and do A LOT! Highly recommend

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived at 10 am and SURPISE, our room was ready!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Id always heard that everything on Viking was 5 star. However, everyone in our group was lass that impressed with the food quality.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Viking is NOT an onboard activities kind of cruise. You mostly eat and sleep on the ship. The real fun is in their excursions with op notch guides

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Entertainment is minimal ... a nightly piano player, nightly port informational presentations. Better bring a good book

Children's Programs

No kids under 18 are allowed on Viking cruises

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff bend over backwards to make you trip enjoyable

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Think Scandinavian chic. Very clean. staterooms are small. But, you won't be hanging out in them. You'll be out on excursions or lounging in the many little lounge areas. Tea, coffee and cookies are available 24/7

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Quite small but efficient. We had random strange, mechanical whirring noises in our room. It definitely was annoying. I would recommend asking for a different stateroom. Also, the beds were firm but lumpy. I heard quite a few people grumbling about the beds.

Ship tip

bring magnetic hooks (good for 35lbs +) The hooks will come in handy holding purses, backpacks up off the limited floor space.

Ports of call

Antwerp, Belgium

5 out of 5
We took the included 2 hr walking tour. Excellent guide. In the afternoon we explored on our own. LOTS to see and do in Antwerp

Maastricht, Netherlands

5 out of 5
Took the included walking tour. LOVED the cobblestone streets and alleyways. City is great for vintage shopping. Don't miss the church that was turned into a bookstore.

Nijmegen, Netherlands

5 out of 5
SO much history in Nijmegen. We took the included walking tour. Great introduction to the city. You feel like you're waking through history. Be sure to taste the fresh herring in the main square.

Dordrecht, Netherlands

5 out of 5
Dordrecht is like a little Amsterdam. Lots of cobblestone roadways and canals. Beautiful. We loved the old architecture and stories about the different structures. We did the included walking tour & then explored further on our own,

Rotterdam, Netherlands

4 out of 5
Took the included walking tour of Rotterdam. Don't miss the HUGE Market Hall. This huge indoor market houses food stalls and restaurants to satisfy all taste buds.

Kinderdijk, Netherlands

5 out of 5
We took the included waking tour of Kinderdijk. This is a Don't Miss destination. Everything you ever wanted to know about wind mills can be found here. It is a World Heritage Site

Hoorn, Netherlands

5 out of 5
We were unable to dock in Hoorn. Instead we tied up in Enkhuizen and then we were bussed into Hoorn (35 minute buss ride.) The walking tour was OK (paled in comparison to Dordrecht. We attended a folk dance presentation which was good, but too long.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

5 out of 5
So much to see and do. Everyone wished we had another day in Amsterdam. One day just isn't enough. We looked the included walking tour which included a visit to a Diamond Factory. We felt thatwas a waste of time.

Disembarkation

Viking has it down to a science.
