Viking Kvasir

11 Night The Swiss Alps To Paris (Zurich To Paris)

Sail date: August 10, 2019

Ship: Viking Kvasir

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 301

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

We had believed the Viking TV commercials and expected a much more intimate upscale cruise. We are experienced cruises and have had much better food, entertainment and relationships with the crew on much larger ships. The high point of this cruise is the one day cruise past all the castles.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The entire dining experience was not what we expected. All of the passengers enter the dining room at the same time each night. This makes for a very chaotic start to dinner and it's hard to find a table to eat with friends or a window table to enjoy the view. The food choices were nothing special either.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
They offered a short port lecture most evenings.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
I did hear the piano player a few times.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Nothing special with the personnel. The cruise director was very cold and seemed very stressed.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was very thoughtfully arranged.

Ship tip

Don't rely on the glitzy commercials that Viking puts on TV. It is not a fancy upscale cruise.

The hotel Viking uses is in an industrial area, way far from any site seeing or shopping.

This was one of the prettiest cities on the tour and the weather we had was great.

We went to Luxembourg and then on to Paris. The WW2 cemetary visit was moving.
