The innovative Viking Forseti is one of several new Longships by Viking River Cruises set to sail in 2012. With only 95 cabins and 190 passengers, this intimate ship offers some exciting new features for river cruise ships including the Explorer Suites - two 445 square- foot suites that feature a separate living room, bedroom and bathroom, as well as a wrap-around veranda. The Aquavit Terrace, a new lounge with retractable floor-to-ceiling windows that can be opened on nice days, offers the perfect spot to relax while enjoying a glass of wine and catching up with friends. Aboard this sleek vessel you will also find many environmentally friendly additions such as hybrid engines, solar panels, and an organic herb garden located on the sun deck. Delicious Wine Adventure by cruiselpb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Forseti

The weather was good, mostly mid-50s and overcast. The region does experience fog in the morning in November. The food and wine were very good on this ship, better than the Rhine cruise. We spent four nights in Bordeaux, which was excellent because there was so much to do. We had a delightful dinner at Chateau Kirwan. The evening was the highlight. We purchased wine from our last stop in Sauternes, as it had first-class growth wines that were worth the price of shipping home.

Not just for wine lovers by MikeTelles

We recommend this trip even if you are not a wine enthusiast. I am not, however I enjoyed every wine I tasted. Learning about French wines is fascinating and the history of Bordeaux and the ports of call were quite enjoyable to experience. The excursions and guides are top notch. Breathtaking scenery everywhere we went!

Mixed Feelings by lindageer0

I think the title of the cruise is misleading. When I think of a chateaux, I think of something like you would see in the Loire Valley. I was also disappointed that two of the shore tours included long bus rides as I get motion sick.

Viking Forseti - only comment. Bring layers because of weather. Tours are easy. If you cannot do a regular tour, they are very accommodating.

Don't be afraid to request a different wine with your meal than what is being served. They are very accommodating.
