Review summary

The thing that hurts the most is that now 3 weeks after the cruise that NOT ONE person from Regent has reached out or contacted us. Regent has reacted unlike a top cruise line, more like one that cares less about its guests in times of crisis. We have already booked 2 more cruises with Regent this year and next, but apparently Regent has no empathy for its "guests" making them like other cruise lines that DO NOT CARE about guests. Many passengers we spoke with on board also left Regents lack of consideration for its guest. We would hope that Regent would be more proactive and have a greater concern for it "guest"

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Kinda caotic due Covid-19 testing and then trying to get register and signed in, diasppointed that after a while most of the ships personnel, departing from greeting guest and when we boarded, after waiting and going through all screening protocls, one person left to greet us as we boarded the Mariner

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
OUTSTANDING, Regent did a good job and serving and attending to guests even with masks and social distancing

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Since we were unable to "go ashore" for most of the cruise, only hitting 3 stops, plenty of different activities to easy some of "boredom" on being at sea for 6-7 days at a time

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ships own entertainment dept was AWESOME, Outstanding cast of young performers. Some of the other acts were average and several were expectional

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The ships staff of waiters, room stewards were OUTSTANDING. They were happy and always willing to help and assist in whatever requests were made of them. Cannot say enough of them.. They made those days at sea, when the Mariner was unable to dock, more pleasant

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The service staff was constantly cleaning and sanitizing areas. Very well done!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin and balcony were ideal for this length of cruise, until I tested positive for COVID, but had no symptoms and my wife was negative. We had to be quarantine for the last 4 days on the cruise and then 2 days in a hotel. The cabin became very small and confining after that. As we spent 3 days in San Francisco, the weather was not pleasant and made the days more dreary and monotonous.

Ship tip

at this time be prepared for port disruptions, lack of upper ship management being transparent

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

Enjoyed the short tour of city. Brief, but left us wanting to return and explore on our own. Had good lunch devouring the local cuisine!!

Cartagena, Colombia Did not visit port

We were not allowed to disembark, due to persons testing positive for COVID

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
AWESOME. Very entertaining and fascinating. Having an OUTSTANDING speaker for approximate the whole crossing and giving such knowledgeable history of Canal, only heighten the experience

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

4 out of 5
The excursion was exceptional. Guide did remarkable commentary for not having do so in almost 2 years. Great to get off Mariner after 7 days at sea

San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua Did not visit port

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala Did not visit port

Baned here also

Acapulco, Mexico Did not visit port

another banish for having COVID cases on board

Mazatlan, Mexico Did not visit port

likewise in not being allowed to get off ship

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico Did not visit port

once again not allowed

San Diego, California

3 out of 5
After being at sea for another 7 days, anything was great in getting off. The city bus tour was too short and not really worth the effort. We were only allowed to do part of the harbor tour. Disappointing

San Francisco, California Did not visit port

We were quarantined in our Cabin for the 3 days in San Francisco and therefore not allowed to go n the tours

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Since we were quarantined in our cabin, we were the last "guests" to leave the Mariner, more than one and half hours after all the passengers had disembarked. Our luggage was taken personally by 3 crewmembers in hazmat suits and mask. When we left at about 1030am we were escorted by 3 crewmembers in hazmat suits and escorted off the ship. NOT ONE MEMBER of the ships officers were there to wish us well and thank us for cruising with Regent. It was a very LONELY feeling and one that we some kind of LEPERDS and to avoided at all cost. No information was given to us about where and how to exit the Embarkation building. Very anxious and disparing experience. We would hope that no one should have to be made to feel this way
