Glad we took the cruise but not interested in returning to many places visited. Scheduled to take the ship again on a transatlantic trip from Barcelona. It will be interesting to see what has changed.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
No issues although there was no cold water available other than having to walk to the back of the waiting room to a drinking fountain. It was very organized, and fast. Our baggage arrived at our suite quickly although we never heard an announcement that it was OK to go down from the La Veranda to our suite.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
No issues. Everything was excellent.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
With what was available, it seemed they made a good effort but overall it was a bit boring at times. The fitness center was OK but the TV portion of half the eliptical, cycling and treadmill equipment did not function well if at all. There were many times when the center was left unattended. That could be a big problem if someone were there and was injured.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Good but not particularly so.
Children's Programs
no children aboard
Service and Staff

Extremely friendly and seemed to bend over backward to please. Very GOOD!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship's layout was OK (see cabin comments below) and our only issue was with our cabin. The maintenance of the ship was excellent. Fresh paint and polish everywhere even though the ship was heading for refurbishment soon.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The floor was very uneven and for a cabin designed for the handicapped, could have been quite dangerous. The shower required one to strategically place towels on the floor to prevent flooding. It was very irritating not to have a 110 volt outlet in the bathroom for electric dental appliances as well as a shaver. There was a big shortage of 110 volt outlets anywhere for that matter. We had to have the A/C repaired at one point.
Ship tip
Be prepared for a smaller ship experience. At one point when the stabilizers were pulled in due to shallow seas, it was very difficult to stand, let alone walk. Even with the stabilizers deployed, the ride was rough.
The port seemed OK but really did not see as was on a great excursion (1/2 boat, 1/2 bus). The only part of the excursion that was bad was returning to the port on the bus with a 1 hour ride in the dark on a very windy, narrow road.
Walked around the part of the city outside the terminal for a while in the morning. Impressed by the cleanliness and maintenance of the streets and buildings for being so deep into Brazil. Excursion was good and the opera house was extremely impressive. Zoo was so so.
The little town was very quaint and the walk on the beach beautiful. Easy to guide oneself around the town and the area so can understand why no excursions was offered.
Thanks for the informative review, especially on the accessible cabin. Hopefully they can do something about the sloshing shower during refit. We are also booked on the transatlantic from Barcelona in 2018, in 828. Did the Amazon cruise round trip Miami on the Navigator in 2014 and agree with you that we didn’t find many of the ports interesting. I think you will enjoy the ports on the transatlantic more.
