This was our first cruise on Regent, and while we'll sail with them again, they aren't at the top of our list of cruise lines (maybe #4), and are somewhat short of what we consider "luxury" class. We'll see if the kitchen and communications problems persist on our next cruise and see if our rating will go up or down.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The kitchen is slow, inaccurate, and I think I could prepare many of the dishes better. Communications challenges meant wrong dishes served, sometimes as many as a third of the courses. Buffet food is, as usual, overcooked. Many bright points and wonderful dishes, but the same dish a week later might be trash.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Many of the activities offered didn't appeal to us, but we enjoyed those that did.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Four nights (out of 25) we attended and enjoyed the evening entertainment. The others we either had no interest in or walked out.
Children's Programs
No children on this cruise, nor does the ship appear to be set up for them.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Other than the challenges in the dining room (of which only communications issues could be blamed on dining room staff) and a cabin attendant who we just didn't fancy, staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful. However, this ship had a large dose of "not my job", which I debit to the cruise line philosophy.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is in very good repair for its age, but cleaning seems to lag a bit behind. Cleanliness was good, I had little concern for my health, but crud in the corners deserved more attention.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Best stateroom afloat yet, despite a split bed that split when we didn't want it to. Very roomy with lots of storage space.
Ship tip
Lower your expectations for dining speed and accuracy, but enjoy the rest. There is a list of the complimentary wines available, but you have to ask for it.
It was like a human zoo plus mistreated animals. Only cute kids were allowed out, and all begged for money. We stayed aboard; those who visited were appalled. This needs to be boycotted.
City tour was very interesting, included Opera House and zoo, which was South American animals only. A second tour to the "meeting of the waters" and a canoe ride, was also excellent.
A "coastal tour" booked through Viator was very good, and the Restaurant at the Animal Flowers Cave was worth a repeat visit. The cave has steep steps and was closed by high waves.
