New ship great cruise!!! by lwest01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a great vacation with time for relaxation, to do whatever you want. The ports were easy to get off the ship with closeby wonderful beaches. The ship is beautiful and everything was clean. The meals were great and loved the anytime dining! Lots of waiters on the ship for bringing drinks, cookies and lots of great service.

Dictatorial staff and dismissive service by Leroy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The captain (Dino Sagani) regularly forced all clients to listen to his irrelevant babbling by transmitting in each state room his loud status reports. It is true that most other cruises don't force paying customers to listen to obscure super-star wannabes, but on the Royal Princess they do things differently! We had the chance to experience the prison-like treatment of having our afternoon sleep rudely interrupted by the captain's many fascinating announcements – we found out the speed of the boat in three measurement units and we were also regularly informed of the depth of the sea! We complained that normal cruises don’t transmit such loud announcement in the staterooms, but the cruise staff quickly dismissed our lack of enthusiasm and our reluctance to embrace the hyperactive vacationing approach. So once you had your tenth supersized extra-strong coffee you're ready to relax on this cruise.

The drills performed on the ship were also a nice occasion to witness frustrated staff yell orders to some disobedient paying customers. Luckily no client was (yet) beaten for their lack of immediate compliance with the orders of parking-guard equivalents.

The food was tasty and nicely presented, but some items quickly finished so we had to be there when the restaurants opened.

Otherwise, the ship is beautiful and the entertainment diverse and of adequate quality.

Beware-Balcony room for three by lyndap43

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Ship is beautiful, but public areas downsized (theater) so they can cram more people in smaller spaces. Beware - do not book a balcony room for three people. The berth is down 14-15 hours per day, blocking access to the balcony, as well as the dresser (mirror, drawers) and the refrigerator. We tried to get an upgrade, but were told none were available. We found 8 mini suites on Deck 14 empty! They said there were "mechanical problems" with these rooms; however, they were for rent the day before sailing.

Very relaxing cruise by kina208

The ship was brand new and very nice, but it is definitely focused on a much older passenger clientele. I also was somewhat disappointed with the quality of the food.

Not usually a fan of large ships but we felt they did a good job and it did not feel crowded.

Beautiful ship by jerridahlman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship is beautiful! The common areas are larger, which is nice, but the staterooms are smaller. The formal dining room is decorated beautifully, and the service was outstanding. There was at least 2 elevators out of service throughout the entire cruise, which made wait times for the elevators 10 minutes or more.

super time by jansquare2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

liked the shower in our extended balcony room but it did make the overall size of the bathroom smaller but updates to fixtures were quite mice. We were mid ship so everything seemed centrally located except the stairways. Elevators too small so had to wait constantly to get anywhere as there were no stairs. Shops were smaller so less merchandize and too many jewelry stores,

The New Royal Princess needs some revisions by SusanA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Princess is our preferred cruise line.  We enjoyed the Crown Princess, the Emerald Princess, and the Sapphire Princess.  We were so excited to be traveling on the new Royal Princess, but our expectations were not met for the following reasons:

1. The embarkment was a mess, unorganized and took way too long.  Usually it runs very smoothly on Princess

2. The toilets in the public areas had difficulty in flushing

3. Poor dining room service the first two days in the "anytime dining"  The waiters did not introduce themselves and did not  refill beverages, bread, etc.My prime rib came medium rare and I requested medium well.  Was sent back two times.  I finally gave up.On the third day, we found a sweet and efficient server who gave us a great eperience, so we called and requested her section for the remaining of the cruise.

4. Usually, Princess shows movies and concerts daily by the pool.  This is one of the reasons we choose to go Princess.  On this ship, so much of the time, the movie screen just shoed landscapes which was boring.

5. Whave cruised over 20 times and this is the first ship where the room stewart did not have cute folded toels in the cabin, WHY??? This is one of the fun things we look forward to on a cruise.

6.  The buffet service on the Lido deck offers many selections, but it is so spread out.  Be ready to walk, not easy for people who have difficulty.

7.  We usually enjoy going to see the Kareoke, but the seating in the "Princess Live"  is very tight and not comfortable, miss the comfy seats in the lounge areas of the other ships.

8.  Loss valuable time (4 hours) trying tomuse the ship's internet system, it was not reliable

9.  We did love the new design of the Princess theater.  Loved the center aisle and the comfy seating, easy to see. Sad they did not offer even one inside movie in this beautiful theater.

10. The disembarkment was much smoother than the embarkment.  Hopefully Princess will correct the problems relayed by us cruisers. We will probably use the older ships until we see more progress.

Although not the newest ship... by BobHall

Although not the newest ship in the line, it is well maintained! Crew were very accommodating and went out of their way to ensure they met your expectations. The ports were well chosen which made the trip very enjoyable. The restaurants had great meal selections!

First time on Princess by CaptainCook01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

First ship I've done on Princess and def nice inside and was great to watch movies under the stars and they bring you popcorn and such. One complaint was the regular balconys be up to a ba cat have a walk in closet but NO sitting area.Kinda of strange, the Deluxe Balconys have the couch and walk in closet.Service in a whole was good, had a few hiccups but nothing major .The ship layout is a bit confusing as they have no elevators rear and you have to walk dripping through the Buffett to get to the elevators. Also stair cases that lead to a blank door.Have heard many of the same complaints but it didn't effect my experience .Overall would do Princess many more times..

Excellent ship, slightly lacking by wrbpotter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was new and very clean so some issues may have stemed from it's maiden Caribbean voyage. The Dining Room food was excelletn, but the buffett food was just average. The best adult area had an extra charge for chairs which was a surprise. The therater had bar service but no cup holders. That may be why appause was stunted. The tender service to Princess Cay was slow and actually bad, but again this was their first shot at it. The stern bar was hot as all get out and could really use some fans or comany not to be named air multipliers. (for safey)

Mediterranean Anniversary Cruise by cmgstat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ship is a luxury floating hotel. There are lots of things to do and in twelve days we could not visit every restaurant on board. The service was outstanding and the ship is super clean. Lots of emphasis in sanitation.

Awesome Alaska by manwithnoname

We absolutely loved every port we visited, even with the rain in Ketchikan and Skagway. But Glacier Bay was the very best of them all, it is definitely a must see destination on your Alaska cruise.
