Review summary

Had a great time both on the cruise and the land portion. Princess provided excellent service.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had heard that embarkation from Vancouver BC can be challenging, but we found it quick and seamless

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
MDR was very good. Sabatini’s was just OK. Ocean Terrace wasn’t worth the wait, but Alfredo’s was perfect. Absolutely the best pizza at sea. Not a fan of buffets in general. This one was messy and overcrowded and no dishes stood out. Typical cruise buffet.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The music and events in the Piazza were enjoyable. Puppies in the Piazza was adorable. The cruise director did a great job throughout the entire cruise. He was fun and engaging without being too over the top

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The performers in the production shows were so talented. The shows themselves were a little dated, but the talent was so good that I loved them. Also really enjoyed the Alaska specific presentations

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service in all venues was spot on. Loved the ability to order food and drinks with the app.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Royal Princess is due for a refresh. She needs new carpet. The furniture in our cabin needs to be replaced. It was very worn. There was also a musty smell coming from our shower. The ship design was lovely and definitely has the wow factor. The sanctuary is beautiful and was one of our favorite spaces.

Cabin / Stateroom

Time for a refresh. Sofa worn and stained and the bathroom had a funky smell. The bed was comfortable and this cabin had a larger balcony.

Ship tip

Would recommend Princess Plus. Not sure Princess Premiere was worth it. Princess Prizes wasn’t working on our cruise and the desserts are pretty much a one-time thing. Reserved seating for shows wasn’t necessary. The WiFi was fast.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Best port for whale watching or visiting the glacier. Other than that, it’s just one jewelry store after another.

Cruise Glacier Bay

Completely stunning. Order room service and spend the day on the balcony

Skagway, Alaska

Enjoyed the White Pass Railroad

Cruise College Fjord, Alaska

Disembarkation

Easy peasy. We were off the ship and on to our land tour quickly. The land portion was perfectly organized and coordinated. Hats off to Princess for offering such a unique and special experience.

Thanks for the great review. Thank you for stating that you don’t like buffets. That helps to understand your perspective with your review of the buffet.

I like taking Princess when I do my annual cruise to Alaska. I usually don't repeat a cruise ship unless there is no other option for a particular cruise, so I've been doing other cruise lines to Alaska.
