From the moment I stepped onto the boat I could tell it was going to be a good week. The atrium area of the boat was my first impression and it was nice! I loved the christmas decorations and from there we went straight to the buffet, which did not disappoint. From there we were able to get into our cabins (so fast!) and go exploring. Night one dinner was delicious and the welcome aboard show was lame but hey the first timers love them! Day 2 was one of my favorites. I worked out, got a massage and enjoyed the beautiful Key West. Day 3 at sea was chill, good food, good dinner, fun activities, and fabulous weather. Overall great week. I'd keep going but I'm too lazy to type more here.
Good overall cruise was good but I had to point out the little things like the dirty garbage can lids, the smoke in the centrum and the bad service in the 5th deck main dining. 32 cruises overall 16 with Royal. I believe I was truthful and fair with this review.
Being a first timer and thinking that Royal Caribbean was number one we would be hard pressed to do another cruise. This ship is very tired and it is clear that Royal Caribbean has little interest in their older ships. Being a novice I thought their standards would be the same across all their products. On-board illness is more that squirting sanitizer on patrons hands. Basic cleanliness is a baseline,
This cruise was a great value. The food, service, and ports visited were really a treat. I did this as a last hurrah before starting graduate school and it was a great choice. The last day we had rough seas, but we were still able to enjoy a movie in the theatre, bingo and a final dinner with our great waiter Boris!
Probably won't sail Rhapsody again for a long time. We have been on the other ships in this category several times and loved them. This one just didn't have the same feel. Everything just felt lack luster, from the food to the activities to the staff. Just didn't get a great vibe.
We went on this cruise to visit Mayan cultural sites and spend time with our family. The ship, however, was below our expectations. It really shows its age and is in need of an upgrade to compete with other cruise lines.
Food wasnt great in main dining. Cafe food was just ok. Pool too small and overcrowded. Not much in way of shopping variety onboard. Entertainment options minimal. Dining Service staff paid extra special attention only on last 2days
The fact that the women in our party didnt have chairs pulled for them was a total bummer, RC usually is amazing at dinner. This trip the dinner experience was horrible. The head waiter was very good but she is only one person.
Rhapsody of the Seas was the WORST cruise I have ever been on. I must note that I have been on four other RoyalCaribbean ships and never had a single complaint on any of them. So not sure if this was just a rare occurrence, but read on, and you'll see just how horrible my experience was on the Rhapsody.
First, the VROOM "high-speed" internet was extremely unreliable and far from being high-stream. We were mostly unable to connect at all to the internet, and we could, the speed was very, very slow. We were so frustrated with the service and spoke with the internet manager who was very cold and possessed a horrible attitude. She said either cancel the VROOM package immediately or wait and see if the internet gets better. I eventually requested a refund from the Front Desk Manager.
Second, the soda machines in the Wind Jammer Cafe were not working during the entire length of the cruise. I purchased the unlimited coke package before boarding the ship and was shocked to see only the machine on the 6th deck, center atrium, working fine. I was either told by the beverage staff in the Windjammer to either go to the 6th deck to get soda, buy the cans available from them, or drink the consistently flat and horribly tasting soda they had in bottles.
Third, the temperature in our cabin was inconsistent and uncomfortable. At first, it was too cold and we requested a technician to come by and fix the matter. The next day, the room became too hot (regardless of our setting) and we had to request another technician to come by and finally resolve the issue.
Fourth, one evening I was ill and missed the dinner seating in the main dinning area on the 5th deck by a few minutes. The maître d' or head waiter at that moment (a gentleman) informed me the kitchen was closed and there was nothing they could have done. I was disappointed and we decided to go to the 4th deck main dinning area and the nice head waiter was kind enough to retriever a full course meal for me. I could not understand why the man on the 5th deck dinning room was so cold and and uncooperative, and yet, was happy to receive such amazing service from the other man in the 4th deck main dinning area.
More disappointments included the very poor quality of food at the Windjammer Cafe, Park Cafe and main dinning area (had experienced higher quality foods on other RoyalCaribbean cruises), and the Windjammer Cafe being closed in early afternoon after we arrived back on the ship from an excursion organized by RoyalCaribbean.
We were also dismayed, ALTHOUGH WE REALIZE NO FAULT OF ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S, that Cococay was canceled due to inclement weather and sea waves, as well as taking almost four hours to exit the ship when we arrived in Tampa. We understand that Royal Caribbean had no control over these matters, but after all of the negative experiences previously mentioned, it was like pouring salt on an open wound.
Wasn't our best. Everything we loved on Sereande of the seas except the crew had dropped in quality. RC used to give good info on local transport and now it was all about their shuttles, which always cost more than the local transport. getting off the ship on first stop were forced to wait until all the paying people were off. We didn't stop at CocoCay, no compensation , not even a free drink. Worst was lying about the CBP was the reason we were let on disembarking, when the truth from CBP was that they didn't get the bags off on time, and there people picked who leaves and when.
