The Garden Cafe on the aft stays open longer hours and is not as busy as the buffet but has almost the same choices. If you sit inside at the end of the buffet dining area it is less congested to go outside to the Garden Cafe for a coffee refill or desert. Lovely to sit out there on a nice day too.

Explore the ship early in the voyage to see where everything is. If it is a sightseeing cruise e.g. Alaskan Coast, check out all the available viewing locations. We found the promenade deck (Deck 6) was good for viewing glaciers as you were lower down so you got more of a sense of the size of the glacier. It was also generally less crowded. We thought deck 12 was the highest deck but on the last day we found there were two stairways leading up to an even higher observation platform, and there were not many people on it.

Prepare to have a good time! Plenty to do, eat, and drink while on the Norwegian Sun!---Don't feel you have to take an excursion in every town...Enjoy the brief time in Juneau--no excursion needed there. Longest port of call is Skagway and the train ride to the Yukon is worth it !

Do NOT use this ship if you are disabled and rooming alone. You'll need someone to open your stateroom door and if you have a balcony, you'll need someone there to open door for you. Was told they'll be upgrading electrical in April of 2018. Price for this OLD ship not up to date was way overpriced.

Have someone explain EXACTLY what the "All Drinks Paid" and "All Gratuities Paid" because they don't include all drinks or all gratuities. We had to pay for our own bottled water and any drinks in our cabin. Except for the cabin attendant and continental breakfast; YOU pay for all other gratuities at the rate of 18% and then they ask for additional gratuity... very deceiving. Silver Seas as a contrast includes ALL drinks (even bottles) and ALL tips. If buy the insurance, make sure you understand in detail what it covers: READ THE FINE PRINT. When its time to submit a claim, they become very difficult to deal with. Also, make sure you know the process to file a claim. After they sell you the policy, the go silent on you.

Relax, enjoy. Make sure you have a sweater even for the tropics as the larger lounges, theater and specialty restaurants are maintained closer to frigid than merely cold.

If you get hungry late at night you can eat at the Sports Bar on Deck 11 aft. The fish and chips is very good.
