This was one of our favorite cruises. Everyone on board (guests & crew) was extremely friendly. The ship was clean and we didn't have any problems in our room or on board.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
There were only 3 ships loading, but it seemed like we stood or sat in many lines to move forward. The entire process took about 2 hours. Seemed a bit long for this process.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Buffets were excellent with many choices. We didn't find anything unacceptable. The cooks and wait staff were all very friendly. Dined in the fancier restaurants twice and it was also very good. (We participated in many activities and attended many shows, so we were on the move.) We didn't take the time for the specialty restaurants or the comped restaurant as much as we could have.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We enjoyed dancing to the tunes by the Innovation Band. They were awesome. We also participated in some of the silly competitions -- which were handled by the Cruise Director's Staff. They always put on a good show and events.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We saw several shows by the dancers, DJ, Innovation Band, and comedian. All were very good. The talent show by the ship's crew (on the last day) was awesome!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our stateroom steward was perfect. She was friendly, efficient and visited just about the right amount of time -- she didn't linger. The Cruise Director's staff was a great group of hard working folks. The wait staff in the Buffet area was also very efficient. They also had "entertainment" during the lunch time. A crew member playing his guitar reminding everyone to wash their hands -- it was a great hit with all cruise guests.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well maintained. No problems there.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This room was perfect for 2 people. We had 3 suit cases & 2 carry-ons full of stuff and there was plenty of room to store our items and still keep the room tidy. I do wish there were more plugs.
Ship tip
Participate in as many activities as possible. We met many cruise guests by participating.
This was a great excursion. Bus ride to glacier & waterfall and able to walk close to both on a paved path. Ranger station also had a great presentation and movie about the glacier. Bus ride back. This entire trip took about 3.5 hours. Excellent time.
The White Pass Rail & Yukon Expedition was a great excursion. It did take 8 hours, but sooooo worth it. We saw many beautiful views -- all breathtaking. Our bus driver gave an excellent tour, explaining each area perfectly.
This excursion was great! The Crab Feast was all you can eat (or wear -- it's messy). The folks @ George Inlet Lodge have their act together -- 100% hospitality! The flight back was terrific! It lasted about 20 -
25 minutes and we had beautiful views all around. The quick bus trip back to the ship was also efficient.
The Orca Exploration was also great. No bus ride, you begin this excursion right at the pier where the NCL Sun is docked. The Marine Biologists gave us information all along the ride and explained much more than I knew about whales. Great time!
We didn't take an organized excursion, but rented a car and visited several spots in Astoria, a restaurant in Seaside Beach & the Beach in Cannon Beach. Such a beautiful area. I'd go back there again on my own!
For some reason the ship's crew was not organized on the diembarkation. The line to leave should have been much more efficient. Once we were off the ship, the bus ride to the airport was efficient. Dropped us at our airline gate.
