Review summary

Been there, done that... and have the tee-shirt. This will probably be my last cruise. If we go to Alaska or any other place, I believe travelling there, renting a car and making one's own itinerary is probably less stressful and more enjoyable. Personally, I don't like to feel like a walking ATM for the cruise line...everything is about money, at every turn. That's why I selected the 'drinks' and 'tips' included options which turned out to be deceitful as we had to pay for bottled water and all tips except for cabin attendant. The worst part was that once the 'sale' was made, I could not get the salesperson (Beatriz Carter) to email me or call me back. I had an emergency at debarkation and needed to contact her regarding the insurance we purchased. As of today, she has not contacted me.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dinning rooms were excellent. The Specialty restaurants were terrible in our experience. We went to the Brazilian Steak one and all the meat was cold; the restaurant was empty. The buffet was ok when not many people there.... otherwise, when full of people it was like feeding off of a trough.

Ship tip

Have someone explain EXACTLY what the "All Drinks Paid" and "All Gratuities Paid" because they don't include all drinks or all gratuities. We had to pay for our own bottled water and any drinks in our cabin. Except for the cabin attendant and continental breakfast; YOU pay for all other gratuities at the rate of 18% and then they ask for additional gratuity... very deceiving. Silver Seas as a contrast includes ALL drinks (even bottles) and ALL tips. If buy the insurance, make sure you understand in detail what it covers: READ THE FINE PRINT. When its time to submit a claim, they become very difficult to deal with. Also, make sure you know the process to file a claim. After they sell you the policy, the go silent on you.

Disembarkation

I had to be taken to the Emergency Room in Vancouver due to Pneumonia and the Flu. Medical personnel onboard and Vancouver emergency personnel made the evacuation easy.
