Five Star Vacation by JenniferB12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

The variety of possible things to do kept the time on the ship interesting and inviting. Whether it was Bingo, a poolside contest, oversized chess on the deck, going to the gym, grabbing a bite to eat, watching a musician, seeing second city, enjoying the casino, or hanging out in one of the many lounges...if you were willing to give it a try there were several choices to keep us occupied every minute of every day!

fun fun fun "EXCEPT" by DanitaE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

The cruise itself was wonderful, had a great time on each port except Acapulco. The staff are very pleasant, polite and helpful. The shows are fantastic. It would have been a wonderful experience if they did not lose my luggage. Their attempt to find it can be improved. I left several messages to Donna and my calls were not returned. I travel a lot and this is the first time that my luggage are lost. I hope they find it so I can rewrite my review. I'm very disappointed with their disembarcation procedures.

A Great Time Aboard! by DarlaC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

I would recommend this ship and Mexican Riviera to anyone! We had an awesome time from start to finish! The ship was very nice and always clean. The shows were OK, nothing to write home about but still enjoyable. Lots of room on the decks to lay out in the sun and a nice sized pool with lots of hot tubs! Restaurant service was excellent in the main dining rooms, but kind of hard to get a reservation in the other dining rooms. The staff was great and very friendly, we had lots of laughs with them! Room service was very good and the kids loved the Blue Lagoon for those late night munchies! Overall, I would do it again and will be back with Norwegian Cruise Lines!

Very enjoyable cruise by RobS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

This was our fourth cruise on four different cruise lines. We took NCL because of the e-mail offer through Alaksa Airlines. It was less than 60 days to departure and we received a very good rate on a balcony cabin. In the past, we have selected large dining tables so we would have the opportunity to meet new people and share the days events. With the freestyle dining on NCL you go to dinner when and where you want. We enjoyed that feature and asked to share our table with other guests so we got the best of both worlds. On a couple of the stops we did not have a full day to visit. Despite that we enjoyed the itinerary. Cruising Mexico was never high on our list since we visit Mazatlan on a regular basis. As it turned out, we were glad that we took this cruise. The staff was friendly, the ship was clean and service was good. We did not like the $71.50 per person for soda pop program and did not participate. The main pool was too small but other than that, it was a good cruise.

An enjoyable cruise by Kcb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

Beautiful ship, very clean, modern, very nice, cozy areas, not overstated, great gym, good array of restaurants(although the buffet and main dining food could be better, not bad, pretty good), staff very attentive and courteous. Would have liked a better after hours "coffee shop" type of place onboard, the 24 hr diner is cramped and only a handful of greasy items, decent but not great. Room service did not offer hot items, nor a full breakfast. we have been on Princess and Royal Carribbean , their buffets and room service menus are better.

"SO-SO CRUISE" by Jeremy3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

We much prefer Celebrity to Norwegian. Freestyle is not for us. It is impossilbe to get a resevation at one of the other "no charge" restaurants unless you call a day or 2 ahead, so where is the freestyle in that? The food is very subpar to Celebrity. The buffett never changed it's menu. Room service menu is VERY limited. We never got to know even one crew member by name since you never really have the same one twice, except for maybe your room steward. Rooms are not cleaned very well, dust and dirt on floor from previous guests. Our kids got rashes on their necks from bed bugs we suppose. The entertainment was good, but the Stardust Theatre was very uncomfortable, and you had to get there 1/2 hour early to get a decent seat. I really don't like not having a dress code. You feel overdressed or even underdressed at times. It's nice when everyone is on the same page. Pool area was OK, but no lounge chairs by the pool. You had to go up to the next deck to get a lounge chair, so it wasn't easy to just get a quick dip in the pool from your chair. We would not cruise with Norwegian again.

"Just an OK cruise" by Jeremy3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

It was decorated bright and fun. But not very clean. The food was not as good as other cruise lines like Celebrity. They don't spoil you on this cruise line either. We had to do some things that on Celebrity was done for you. The buffett never changed, same thing each day. But the ice cream was good and free. Drinks were very expensive and not very good, very light on the alcohol. They were always trying to upsell us, "want a double" "want a bucket of beer instead of just one" "how about another drink" and so on. Didn't like the idea of Freestyle, just not for us. We like knowing when and where to eat, not have to pick a place and call a few days ahead of time to get in.

A trip to Mexico by EricH5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

The ship was beautiful and very well maintained. It's crew were among some of the best I've encountered. They took hygiene to an extreme level, but was very appreciated. The dining crew are to be especially commended. The cuisine was excellent, as would be expected. But, the preparation and presentation were superb! Great Job, NCL. The entertainment was also top notch. Great performers and very personable. The "Star" crew should also be commended for their diligence with the kids programs and facilities. My five year old couldn't wait to get back to "the school" and get involved in the many activities that were available. All of these made this of the best we've taken. If only we had made it to the last port of call, Cabo San Lucas. It was the right thing to do, assisting another ship in distress, causing us to miss our last port. I should think that the passengers would see some type of financial compensation, as a result. At least a refund on the port charges and taxes that NCL didn't have to pay to Cabo. But, no mention of any. Disappointing!

Wonderful Time by SharonH22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

This was my 8th cruise on NCL. The Star is beautiful and the staff keeps it clean and tidy as is common with NCL. As always the multinational staff went out of their way to accommodate any request. They never forget that you are on vacation and want to be pampered. I was disappointed in the food in the main two restaurants. There are several specialty restaurants that require reservations, some of which require a cover charge and some not. Any of the five that I frequented were outstanding. Room service is punctual and efficient, allowing you the luxury of a sleep in on the days you need to be early for an excursion or port exploration. Already thinking about cruise #9.

NorwegianStar&Mexican Riveria by JG5848568

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

The ship was beautiful and the main dining room was the prettiest yet, and I have been on 9 cruises with all different lines. The free style dining and expansive choices of restaurants was the absolute best! The staff was efficient and helpful especially to my handicapped husband.
