NEVER AGAIN by cjennings46

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The food was horrible and on the last night my NEWLY wed wife and I were both assaulted by another passenger. I ended up in the ship hospital for 4 hours and was then charged $1100 for injuries I suffered on THEIR SHIP. Never, ever, never, ever will I ever sail on Norwegian again, even for $1.00

Clean and great customer service by franchiseclayto

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Wow the room attendant organized and did our he'd around 2-3 times a day and night. Great food, can't beat the unlimited alcohol, however I think they water them down. I never felt like drunk, which I think is a good thing since if there's an emergency you really don't want drunk people dealing w it or to deal with. Lots of kids activities, we spent around $450 after paying the cruise. This is including one a la carte restaurant which was around $77, dry cleaning $20, one shore excursion, cruise daily fees per person so be aware of that is around $14 per day per each person. I don't know if it includes kids tho. It was just myself and my hubby. Now I think they need to do better on their beds, they are kinda hard, good pillows tho.

Weekend Cruise by ryan734

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

We had a great experience, everyone was personable and ensured we had a good time.  The bartenders were most efficient and drinks were consistent. Food was reasonable and little to no wait at the restaurants.

New to Norwegian Cruiseline by lateshiabastien

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I must say that this was an experience however the cruise was good.  I would like to see more kid friendly activities, more live shows, more activities for adults, etc.  The food was amazing and the crew was great.  I do not like the fact that you can not put a limit on how much your children can spend on their sail card and did not like that the person booking the cruise did not make me aware of the $13.50 gratuity per day per person in the stateroom.

Could have been better by teresab43

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My wife and I typically cruise Carnival cruise lines but thought we would try Norwegian. Overall we were disappointed. The room was a bit small, but we could live with that. The food, at best was OK. My wife was very disappointed in the desert options. We traveled on the Norwegian Sky, which did offer no charge alcoholic drinks. While we are not heavy drinkers, that was a cost savings. Where the disappointment really kicked in was the lack of communication between the entertainment staff and the passengers. Other than the printed material that you did receive the night before, there was very in the way of announcements to remind you of upcoming events. We did attend a couple of gaming events, but again, the instructions on how to play were not made very clear. We heard this complaint from other guests as well.

Signage to exit the ship was poor at best, and the staff was not available to help in finding our way out.

Going forward we will go back to Carnival. Enough said.

Beware of hidden fees!!!! by Jazrenee92

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The food on the cruise was terrible! The only thing I kept going back for was the fries. The food may have tasted better if the cooks had better attitudes and actually looked like they wanted to serve. There was barely a variety because they had the same food in the buffet everyday. The alcohol is free but the bartenders had some of the NASTIEST attitudes that I have ever experienced. The drinks were watered down but I probably would have had a better experience if the bartenders had customer service skills. Out of the hundreds of employees that work for the ship the ONLY bartender that had customer service skills was MICHAEL. He was so nice and he actually looked like he enjoyed his job. Everyone else seemed as if they HATED THEIR JOB and HATED EVERYONE on the ship. That is the vibe I received. There is a $13.50 service charge PER PERSON in your party that you are charged EVERYDAY that no ones tells you about, but they need your credit card on file so they can charge away! I probably wouldn't have been as upset if 1)They told me at the time of booking and 2)IF I ACTUALLY RECIEVED customer service. The only thing I enjoyed was looking at the pretty water because it took me away from the harsh reality of the bad experience I received on the ship. This was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I actually appreciated the fact that they had people that clean up vomit right away and they have hand sanitizer everywhere. All of the destinations seemed pointless because the beaches were far away except for the last island that Norweigan owns. I was annoyed by the cranes and construction everywhere. My advice is SAVE YOUR MONEY or just take your money and fly to the carribean.

Great value for the price! by ttc217

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This is my girlfriend (27F) and I's (29M) second cruise. The first one being a carnival cruise (imagination?).  I've seen incredible value on both cruises so far, but especially on the Norwegian Sky. The ship is a little bit older and lacked a few selling points that other ships may have (water slides, rock climbing walls, etc.) However, you get what you pay for and it's again a great value for $279. They do have a basketball court, ping pong tables, shuffle board, etc. Also, since this is a short cruise AND includes unlimited drinks you'll see many more young people than other cruises. There were a few kids on the ship, but definitely much less that other cruises. There is a teen room with arcade games for kids which is nice if you do have them. The unlimited drinks surpassed my expectations. Not many lines or limitations. There were bars on the private beach which you could walk right up and grab a drink from for free. One of the best parts!

The food - The buffet's offer a pretty good selection of food. The food isn't AMAZING. However, it's nice that you get to try so many different things without worrying about wasting money if you don't like something. Definitely take the time to try some of the sit down restaurants too. There's a couple that are included at no extra cost . They're really nice and the food is a little bit better.

The entertainment - What I love most about cruises is the wide selection of entertainment that's available. There were a few house bands that played many different types of shows (beatles tribute, bob marley hour) and weren't too bad. They also had DJ's and parties on the pool deck. The Deal or No Deal game was pretty fun. The house comedian (Troy Tridgill?) was actually really funny! One of the highlights for me. It's nice to be able to walk to different shows and events and check them all out. There's always something going on and there's something for everyone.

First timer by santanasway

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise itself was very organized.  The Sky was all inclusive drinks which definetly makes it a party boat and difficult to sleep since people are making noise at all hours of the night.  Great Stirrup Cay beach had these huge rocks that made it difficult to walk or swim in and the water was muddy and could not see to the bottom.  Parasailing was great and I found it at a great price at 95.00 per person.  Nassua was not my cup of tea, dirty and people harrasing you each step of the way. Señor Frogs was fun andthe tortuga cake factory a ripoff. The food was not the best premade and frozen items but all in all not to bad for the price.

They wouldn't let us aboard! by bes585

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Spirit Airline delayed our plane 8 times. Causing us to arrive at the port of Miami 15 mins before the ship's departure. When we arrived they refused to allow us to board the ship. The ship sat at port for another 30 minutes then sailed away without us. We lost over 1,500 dollars each. Then had to sleep in the airport overnight to fly back home the next morning. Worst experience of my life.

3 day birthday cruise! by lrob20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The best part of the cruise was the beverage package.  The food lacked flavor and, I enjoyed the buffet rather then the sit down which I typically prefer on other ships I have been on. The service was as expected. The worst part of the cruise was the entertainment. The welcome aboard show was horrible. The comedian was ok but could have been way better. I was expecting Norwegian to be a step above the rest but I preferred carnival as did my entire party. We are planning to take a cruise next year but it will not be with Norwegian

Sky Top by dnswick53

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was nice for a short 5 day cruise around Bahama. Drink package, entertainment, and service were very good. Older ship, but well maintained and rooms are a bit cramped, there are plenty  of places to sit and read or just relax.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly by JStack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Norwegian Sky is an older ship that needs updating as far as furniture and decor. Broken seat on the desk chair in our stateroom and the leather sofa was pretty scuffed up. The Atrium chairs were looking old and the color schemes were old fashioned.

During rain storm, there was a bad water leak coming into the Palace dining room. The friendly, efficient  staff makes up for the the deficiencies. Our room steward kept our room spotless and was attentive to all our needs.

The food in the complimentary dining rooms is fair and forgettable. After our first meal, for the rest of the trip we ordered from the specialty menu and also dined at the specialty restaurants. It was worth the extra money. The food and service at these  restaurants was outstanding. Cagney's Steak house especially. Great food and great service. A must for anyone dining at a specialty restaurant.

Many on board activities to suit everyone's individual likes. You could find music at many locations. Captain Cook's Bar was great. Richard the piano player was exceptionally entertaining. Michelle, the cocktail waitress has to be the most pleasant staff member on board. She remembered our names whenever we came in. Found us seats and recalled what we were drinking. She would spend time chatting with us whenever there was a lull in orders and showed a genuine interest in what we were saying. A little itty- bitty gal with a great big smile that is infectious.

The casino was large enough to accommodate those who wanted to play. They didn't have a "Let it Ride" table, which is my favorite, so I entertained myself at the roulette table. The shows weren't "Broadway Productions" but they were entertaining.

The free drinks were a definite plus. Many bars at many different locations. Some had frozen drinks which I preferred. I liked the pool deck bar since they had TV's that showed the Professional Basketball finals.

My wife visited the many shops on board. No need to say more about that.

The onshore excursions are another story. Due to weather our Glass Bottom Boat trip was cancelled. I can't fault the ship for that. We had booked an excursion to Atlantis Aquarium that was "disastrous" We disembarked the ship to go to the pier at the designated time. We had to search for the excursion Representative who we found sitting on the side of the area. She put gold plastic wristbands on us and directed us to the bus at the end of the pier. The bus took us to the front gate of the Resort and left us off. There was no one there to guide or instruct us what to do next. The group decided to go into the main building where we encountered Atlantis staff, who had no idea what we were to do. We were directed to the ticket counter and once again encountered puzzlement by the Atlantis staff. A Supervisor was called and she informed us that the Aquarium tour required a different colored wristband, ours were for the water activities. The Supervisor then found us a guide, Ella,  who was very entertaining and made us forget our aggravation. The problem with the guide, I believe she thought we were to take a tour of the resort and the Aquarium. We then proceeded to take a long hike through the grounds. I felt like I was back in the military. There were many older people on this tour including my wife and I, and when we finally got to the Aquarium we were exhausted. This wasn't the guides fault, it was the company that set up the excursion and their lack of personnel to take care of our group. Many of us voiced our complaints when we got back on Board. Caution if you are hungry while at Atlantis, stay clear of the restaurant next to the casino, unless you want to pay$105.00 for a burger, seafood salad and two drinks each!

The private beach island was nice but the weather was not good so the Barbecue was cancelled. It still was a nice excursion. Go early to get a good beach lounger by the water.  Later in the day it reminded me of a seal island. It still was good fun though.

All in all it was a good cruise, that had it's flaws.

We met some really nice folks on board and struck up some friendships. We have already had contact with some since getting home.

The bottom line is if you want to relax and have a good time, you can't beat a cruise. I would travel Norwegian again but maybe choose a newer ship.

Great Cruise! Excellent Food! by giaspirit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a great cruise for my daughter and I to celebrate her high school graduation.  We loved the 3 stops - all great islands with lots of options for excursions and beautiful beaches/scenery.  The food on board was excellent!  Lots of delicious and healthy options!  The room was comfortable and clean.  We had a 'porthole' room and it was plenty of room for the two of us.  The staff across the board was professional and extremely friendly.  We met lots of crew members from other countries and they were happy to answer all our questions about where they were born.  Our ONLY complaint was how much the rooms/ship/decor need to be updated.  Since we weren't in the room very much - this was minimally important.  We had an amazing trip and made lots of wonderful memories!Happy
