Good Western Caribbean Itinerary by Bumpa47

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was ok at best. Out of the six we have been on probably the lowest score. With that having been said we have been on some really GREAT cruises. I would recommend this cruise but it was not the best we have taken and also realize that I am trying to be very honest as people will read this and make decisions based upon what I write. Oh, we booked the inaugural sailing of the Norwegian Bliss from Southampton, England in April 2018 so we are sticking with them. It will be our fourth Norwegian sailing. I trust this was helpful.

Overall very enjoyable. I went to the Auction for Park West on the ship and bought 2 great pieces of Art. A original Popeye cell and a 420 out of 450 signed Rockwell.

Good Cruise by dashingdave

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Good value cruise. As I said above...it appears staffing has been cut on the Pearl as we were not waited on as much as in the past. Service in the restaurants seemed lacking a bit at times.

Relaxing by Wannaberetired

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Accomplished goal to relax! Food was great, cabin was great & once we found the good bar servers, the drink package was great!. We had been to most of the ports before so we didn't get off the ship. I didn't feel safe going to Guatemala or Honduras so we didn't get off the ship.

We enjoyed each port but... by Molly2484

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

We enjoyed each port but overall found the service on the ship to be seriously lacking. This was our first cruise with Norwegian. I wouldn’t sail the Pearl again and I’m hesitant to sail with NCL again as well. A few of the issues we had: A drink was spilled and when I told a bar service member at the Pool deck I was told to walk up to the deck above, ask for a towel, and wipe it up. I’m a pretty laid back person but this rubbed me the wrong way. Walking through the pool deck just after midnight and ended up getting my purse and shirt sprayed with white paint. There weren’t any signs posted saying wet paint and when I went to the customer service desk they just shrugged it off. There were other small things, it took an hour and a half one night to get someone to come turn down he couch bed for my son, etc. Our room steward was awesome. They didn’t send him to turn down the bed it was someone else. He showed my son how to make a monkey towel animal and he went above and beyond. There was an issue with my parents as well. It took 4 days to resolve even when showing receipts. We all went together as a celebration cruise. They had sailed with Carnival before and were surprised at how rude some of the staff they encountered were. Food wise was ok. Cagneys and Teppanyaki were our favorite up charge restaurants. Moderno was ok. La Cucina was awful. Le Bistro was ok. We purchased extra meals and decided not to use them and asked to be refunded on board. They said no problem. We have yet to be refunded. The buffet was limited. Our favorite place to eat ended up being O’sheehans. The food was always hot and the wait staff was great. Summers Palace for breakfast was great as well. Getting on and off the boat in NOLA was a mess. Be prepared for that. My son opted to not go to the kids club so I’m not sure about that but we did see other kids going and they seemed to like it.

Great cruise! by Tshancock2001

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was a great cruise. Plenty of activities on sea days. Could of offered more on port days for those staying on board or returning early. Simon the cruise director and his staff were all amazing! The buffet needed more food choices. We ended up just eating elsewhere. Also 6 ports on a 9 night cruise is probably a little much. Not much time for relaxing.

Great ship and crew by Britain22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have sailed on the pearl five times and have never been disappointed in either the condition of the ship or the way we were treated by the creek we have sailed on the pearl five times and have never been disappointed in either the condition of the ship or the way we were treated by the crew. As I mentioned earlier and independent review by the company cruise critics raided the pearl the best customer service of all the ships in the Norwegian fleet and I would totally agree with that assessment.

Sailed the Pearl in Nov... by stoned1

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

Sailed the Pearl in Nov 18. The ship is a wonderful ship. The layout made things easy the find. All the comp restaurant's were average. That's not a bad thing just many expect 5 star dining. My biggest problem was with the wait staff. The deck Steward's we're few and far between. In the lounges most were non existent. Cabin Steward was good. Did his job quit well and was almost invisiable. Just as it should be. When we did need something he took care of it swiftly. I did find out that a lot of the ship's staff were at the end of their contact so this might have effected service. We also cruised right after the KISS cruise and it might of had a impact. I would sailed the Pearl agian.

This was our first cruise... by luckylori

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

This was our first cruise and we had a great time. The boarding process was a disaster, but once we were on the boat everything thing was awesome! We had 4 nights of speciality dining and the drinks package. We ate at the French, Italian, Japanese and Brazilian restaurants. My favorite was the Brazilian by far!! We ate at the Great Outdoors for breakfast every morning. We also ate at Indigo and the Summer Palace. We never ate at the big buffet in the Garden Cafe. We did eat at O’Sheehan as soon as we boarded. It was good, my sister in law loved the wings. She had them 4 times during the cruise. They did offer prime rib the first night and we didn’t care for it, very thin and tough. The drinks were great everywhere on the ship, especially the Mango Meltdown!! The lines at the bars were a little long but not bad. If you sat at a table the waiters were very good. Our cruise mates had cabin 11096, midship mini suite with a balcony and we were across the hall in 11097. It was nice to go out on their balcony while were docking at each port and for some quiet time. In my opinion our cabin was great we did not have neighbors on either side so no noise, except for the humming on the ship and it kinda lulled us to sleep every night. I tipped our room stewart, Jezreel, $10 the first day and gave him a $20 on the last day. He was great, he called me by name every time he saw in the hallways and always smiling and asking how we were doing. We really enjoy hanging out in the atrium, there was always something going on there, the chairs were comfortable and having a bar right there was awesome!! We did go to a couple shows the Angels, flying acrobats, was a good show, we also went to the Legends in Concerts it was okay. The Avalon group was really good. We also like Lace Walker. They played in the atrium most of the time. We went on excursion at every port. Mr. Sancho, in Cozumel was the best. The weather was perfect. We snorkeled from a boat and the guys parasailed. We ate, drank and had a blast!! The rain came at Honduras and Belize all day long but we still had a great time. At Honduras we went to The Pirates of the Caribbean zipline then to Little French Key. The gal from the zipline was great she told us about Coxen Hole, some history and made the trip to the zipline place very enjoyable. She was there to pick us up at the port and when were got finished zipping she was there to take us to little french key and she was there at the right time to take us back to the boat. First off, I’m scared of heights and was apprehensive about ziplining, but our guides were awesome. It took about 1 1/2 for the four of us to complete the course. We only had to go up some steps to the first line then we just went from platform to platform. There was only one other platform to climb and it was like climbing a ten foot ladder. Our group Range in age from 54-72 and we had no problems at all! I left my camera in my bag, by accident, in the lockers they provide(free)but they took pictures of us and I bought the sd card from them for $20. Then we went to Little French Key. It was absolutely beautiful even in the rain! We snorkeled from the beach, we didn’t see a lot of fish but we did see some. The place was amazing. Harvest Caye was next. First of all it was beautiful and if it wasn’t raining we probably would have had a better experience. We rode the ferry over to Placencia, we had booked a tour to the Spice Farm and Botanical Gardens, but when we got to the meeting place our ‘guide/driver’ was pretty sketchy. He didn’t have a name tag or company shirt on and he didn’t have our name. First he told us that we couldn’t go because the bridge to the farm was flooded, they had a lot of rain the night before, then he told was the bridge was not flooded and he want 20% up front so he could go get his car and that he would be back in about 15 minuets. We decided to pass. It might have been fine but we choose to not go. The ferry did not go back the Harvest Caye for about 3 hours so we just walked around Placencia and stopped at The Tipsy Tuna Beach Club. This is a very weird little village. There is a side walk that goes for a least a mile. There are little houses/shacks along one side of the side walk were people have their handmade item for sale and along the other side is mostly nice beach clubs. Then if you go over a block away from the beach there are dirt roads and that’s were the ‘business district’ is. We walked down a little ways and I went into a grocery store and bought a few things. It was a real eye opener as to how poor this village is. The beach was beautiful and very colorful and we had a couple of drinks and enjoyed the view. One last comment if you are planning on an excursion from Belize I would recommend going through NCL. Unless you just want to go to Placencia for a few hours. We didn’t book any excursion through NCL. Last stop Costa Maya. The rain finally went away and we went on a 4 hour excursion to the maya ruins. It was a long walk from the ship to the meeting place. But the guides were right there with company shirts on and had our names and were very organized. The tour was great we had Carlos as a guide and he was very knowledgeable and very easy to understand. The only negative was we asked him to drop us off on the malecon on the way back so we could go to the beach, which he did. We only had about an hour because we wanted to go back to the port and do a little shopping. He dropped us off at Bama Mama and said he would come back and pick us up there, it was very crowded, they didn’t have menus so we just ordered 2 drinks, they charged us $12 each. We wanted to go to Blue Kay but we didn’t think we had time to get there and back within the hour. We should have just gone back to the port. I know this is long, sorry. So much to do in a week. So, for us overall we had an amazing time and we will cruise again. We are looking at Alaska maybe for the summer of 2019 we will definitely go with Norwegian again. We love the free style dining and the casual dress code. We are smokers and we found that we could smoke on deck 7 around the outside of the ship and on deck 13 front and back of the ship and in the casino.

Didn’t Disappoint by pennpam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Loved the cruise, am glad we went on it and would recommend it to anyone. The ship was wonderful, but you should remember that this is not a cruise for partying. We are seniors, but felt at times like we were on a nursing home excursion. We had a hard time adjusting to the snail pace of the corridors and how many people were just unaware of how they blocked halls by congregating to talk to each other. Seemed worse on this ship for some reason even though it happens on all ships. The size of the ship is helpful with limiting crowd sizes I think. We like the smaller ships. If you can keep your own attitude in check, these minor issues do not hamper a great cruise. We found that we like itineraries that are more port extensive. 7 sea days was a bit much for us.

Well, the trip itself was... by afpeace2001

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

Well, the trip itself was ok. We loved the itinerary, Hoonah, Juneau, and Victoria were beautiful. I’ve cruised enough to know there are always going to be little issues here and there. However, out of all the cruises I’ve taken this was by far the worst. This was our first (and last) Norwegian 🚢. I was expecting an upgrade from what we get when sailing Royal similar to the upgrade we saw when Changing from Carnival to Royal. However, we did not it was a decisive decline in quality and service. The crew for the most part made you feel as if you were bothering them when asked even the simplest of questions. We ate at 3 if there specialty restaurants, and the only one that had food better than the buffet was the Japanese Steakhouse. We had an inside cabin on this trip, the bathroom 🚽 was poorly laid out, the shower 🚿 was twice the size of other cruise ships I’ve been on. But, the toilet 🚽 was in such a bad spot that you are forced to sit sideways on the seat. Unfortunately overall we were not impressed with NCL, and will not be taking another cruise with this company.

Alaska, inside passage including Icy Strit and Juneau by khardy57

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Okay for a cruise, but expected to view glaciers from the ship. Unprepared for the jewelry shopping in Juneau. We do not drink $60 per person alcohol each day, only a beer and wine so wished for other drink packages. We anticipated the cool, rainy weather so were prepared and not bothered by it.

Just got back from Alaska... by trichards23

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

Just got back from Alaska on the Pearl and it was my first time with Norwegian - absolutely hands down my best cruise yet. The entertainment was amazing, summer palace dining was out of this world, and every member of the staff treated you like royalty. I will never cruise celebrity or princess again ! Several people say the food was bland or not enough options - that is bull! So many options I could never decide. And all of my food had great flavor ! The ship was always clean, always something to do, and the sushi was well worth the al a cart charge ! All in all- I give it a solid 10!
