Cancel now, go with a different cruise line altogether. NCL is only concerned with the bottom line and doesn't take complaints seriously. Had they taken things seriously they would have addressed the issues I brought to light in my complaint letter (see below) that I and 90+ passengers signed. They did not address the most important issues regarding safety and distance. That is of great concern to me and because of it, we will not sail w NCL ever again. Money is more important to them then the guests safety. 10-14-19 Please consider this a formal complaint from the passengers aboard the Norwegian Joy. Many passengers and disabled people are forced to travel to the farthest point on the ship, just to smoke. The designated area in H2O, deck 17 aft is not completely accommodating for all. Not only is this space too small with little to no coverage from the elements, but is down right dangerous!! The area is overly filled with tables, chairs, stand up ash trays and umbrellas. With people climbing over these items and other guests to get to a seat, it is an accident waiting to happen. On numerous occasions the walkway to the smoking section is blocked forcing passengers to find an alternate route. This can be greatly challenging and frustrating for the handicap. We find it very discriminatory that we are segregated and forced into a small corner of the vessel. This is a safety hazard to all aboard the ship, crew included. The situation is especially worrisome for the handicap as many of them are unsure of their footing and use canes to assist them. We need more smoking areas to accommodate the handicap along with the numerous others that choose to smoke. Being confined to a small, congested and very dangerous area; especially for the handicap is in violation of our human rights. We pay just as much money as the non smokers and deserve the same respect. We are requesting additional smoking areas to be set up throughout the ship. RSVP accordingly. Sincerely, The Passengers of Norwegian Joy

When looking for seats at the buffet move toward the front -usually found seats. Also enjoy the Observation lounge -grab a drink & light lunch to avoid the crowds

Buy a cheap rain poncho from the 99 Cents store at home and pack it in your suitcase. The merchants at our port of cars were selling the same cheap rain poncho for five dollars each.

Take yourself to the ship. Use a taxi or Uber or friends who live nearby or anything else you can find. Do not rely on Norwegian for port transfer from the airport.

Don’t do it. They make too many itinerary changes and are extremely slow in reimbursing. Our Apr 26th cruise from NYC to London, Eng was cut short by 2 days (reason given was that they needed to put Getaway into dry dock sooner). Were promised compensation for chgd travel plans, hotels etc if receipts mailed in. My travel companions got checks in the mail. When I called about mine I was told it was slower because some had to be input manually.

My recommendation, if you have the time to save for it book a Haven!! The best cruise experience you will ever have! Take time to plan for all of the on board attractions, book early so as to not miss out on everything this ship has to offer.

Bring your walking shoes! Bring $100 in single bills to tip your wait staff and bartenders for excellent service. Make your reservations for things you know you want to do as early as possible because they will book out.

If you want a balcony room, pick one on the aft. It was great. Large balcony with two chairs and small table.

Be prepared to pay for some things you wouldn't normally expect to pay for. Also, if you aren't familiar with their "freestyle" cruising concept, make sure you make a "reservation" for the various entertainment options onboard, otherwise, you will have to "stand-by" in order to view the fearured entertainment options.

Check clearance on ports to visit, height of ship may result in cancellation since Joy could clear bridge.
