Cabins were spotless, great variety of places to eat and enjoy entertainment. Ports of call very well organised. As a regular cruiser this cruise is up there in the best of the best.

great cruise by RosellenS

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was lovely, the boarding process painless. The food in the non extra restaurants was OK, not great. The pay per restaurant was much better. The cost to just get into Rome and Florence was a bit high. The pool was wonderful, the Spanis guitarist great and no one should ever get a stateroom without a balcony. Room service was limited, but prompt. Overall a great experience

Cruise nice/food awful by JimS5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was our first cruise. Would I take another cruise? Absolutely, yes. Would it be on Norwegian? Absolutely not. The food was awful. Fish was overcooked, dry and fishy tasting. Souffles were served with raw egg at the bottom. Hamburgers tasted like they were pre-cooked and re-heated. Eggs Benedict were served with hard yolks. I could go on but you get the point.... We arrived in 2 ports 1/2 hour late which affected our excursions. At Cinque Terre we were supposed to go to 4 of the 5 cities, we only got to 3 with no apologies from the ship.

A very relaxing cruise by JohnW36

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The food on this ship was excellent. To be precise, it was the 'Garden Cafe' that was the most impressive. We ate at four of the specialty restaurants (with an additional cost) and each time walked away wondering if we got our moneys worth. And, each time we then toured the 'Garden Cafe' and found ourselves wishing we had eaten there instead. We both enjoy cooking, making fine meals, and this cafe inspired us a number of times. The best example I can give is on the last dinner they served suckling pig among other main courses! We had a balcony stateroom and found it just right. The balcony seemed to be a little larger than other cruises. Also, the bathroom was just right, the shower and toilet were closed by glasses doors so very good privacy. The biggest disappointment was clothes washing facilities. There are none. So, you have to use the ships laundry service which is very expense. Overall, we would like to sail again on Norwegian but only if the boat has a public laundry facility.

Great Itinerary, But Not a Great Cruise by DeniseF1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was ok, but the service was not good. You did not feel that they were there to help make your cruise a wonderful experience. Service people were not smiling, did not greet you when you passed them, and, if you needed them, were not that helpful. The food was average at best. The deck dining area was inadequate for the number of people on board, and the food service area was not well located. Rather than being in the middle, it was to one side and the sitting area stretched to the end of the ship, so by the time you found a seat, if you ever did, your food would be cold. We did love the shore excursions and the itinerary was exactly what we wanted. Thank God we had only 1 day to stay on board the ship while at sea. The curfew for children was very late (1AM) and they were rowdy, mistreating gym equipment late at night, screaming in common areas.... You could not use the pools or hot tubs as they were taken over by kids from early morning to very late at night, although there are 2 pools and one of them should have been only for adults. In all a good cruise for what we wanted to see, but not comfortable or pleasant.

Disappointing by SamP1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Nice ship. Larger balcony room was spacious enough for the four of us, including 2 teenage daughters. Very disappointing food service. The main dining room is nice but food and service is substandard (compared to other lines or restaurants). They offer many "specialty" restaurants which we found the service to be very good, but food quality is still lacking. No midnight buffets like other lines. I must say the best food was at the buffet dining room - though it was always a mad house. Overall service level is also substandard. The room steward seemed to care but really to write home about. The rest of the staff, from bars to cruise information was sometimes downright rude. Port itineraries are pretty much useless... They point out a little history but not much information if you want to do things on your own - who wants to shell out $400 - $600 at everyport for the tours??? Overall, disappointing but we enjoyed the room and the itineary.

NCL Western Mediterranean Cruise by Joel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship is terrific. Rooms were very comfortable and quiet. Nice beds, air conditioning, and very large showers compared to other ships I've been on. Pool area was unbelievable with large water slides, live music, 3 hot tubs and various places to get food and drinks.

A very nice cruise experience by DannD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We did a Mediterranean cruise on the Norwegian Jade. The ship was in excellent condition (very well kept). The staterooms were pleasant, in particular, the bathroom was designed well. The staff was friendly. The food was good, but not excellent.

We took a couple of excursions, we were very well informed and the quality of the transfers, tour guides, food was outstanding. The ship is very nice, clean, the food was HOT, not cold like in other cruises, the expectation for quality in all the restaurants, spetially in the specialty restaurants was excellent.

Nice Ship but Customer Service - Beware by Cruiser54079817

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

There was a huge disparity between the cleaning staff (mostly from Indonesia and the Phillipines) and the management (mostly Norwegian - upper management and mid management, Polish, Russian). The lower end staff were nice but the others were condescending and rude. Instead of finding ways to make customers happy, they were dictating the way it was or what they were or were not going to do. For example, they delivered off shore excursion tickets to my state room after I had left the ship. When I asked for a refund, they went to check the security logs to see if I was lying about when I left the ship! This is no way to treat a customer who is "on vacation" Moreover, it set a poor tone for the rest of the cruise. They were snippy and unwelcoming in their attitudes. People are spending a lot of money and should not be treated this way.

Great cruise-good ports,excellent crew by MichaelK4

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Ship was large, but didn't seem crowded. Crew, service were excellent. For price-entertainment and food were very good. Cabin was good. Hawaiian decor was fine-did not bother anyone. Not too many announcements. Passengers were treated with respect-no "attitude" issues with crew/staff. Everyone was anxious to please. Open dining and service in restaurants was very good. We have sailed Celebrity often, Costa long Indian Ocean Cruise and now Norwegian. Norwegian exceeded Costa and as good as Celebrity, except for food quality choices, but Open Dining made up for it.

disappoinating norwegian cruise line by KapuP

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

first of all the food was just very bad. coffee served was awful. requested maitre de for vegetarian preparations. food served was cold and in spite of the fact that they had many indian cooks, the indian food served was unimaginative and very very bad. rice served was always cold. i did like the musical items on the ship, the jazz band and some of the vocalists were really good.

A very enjoyable experience by RichardR2

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

this was our first cruise with the norwegein line. We loved the suite in the back of the ship on deck 8. the service was excellent. We found the choices of free eating to be limited to only the dining rooms and the garden cafe. The other places had very limited menues. To play bingo you had to pay and were given many extra cost choices for more play. You could not get a free soda or drink any where on the boat. Even in the casino you had to pay for any beverage no matter how much money you gambled. You also did not get any free shuttles off the boat even if you only wanted to go to the port of call.

Not the best cruise to date by WillyW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

1) During one breakfast a supervisor was conducting an "evaluation" of a server where it could be heard by the passengers. It wasn't pleasant. 2) I had no idea that staterooms could be so small. The double bed occupied 50-60% ot the space, leaving about a foot on each side to get to the bathroom and outside. There was also a fold-up upper bunk which made using one side of the bed passage a doubled over exercise. In the future I will be much more careful in picking a cabin. 3) The small TV had picture that was uniformly snowy, "over" colored and hard to see on all channels, DVD movies and antenna reception. (Steward said that was the best picture possible.) 4) The food was very good in all the restaurants. The only exception was the Garden Grill (?) [buffet] where the pastry/deserts were flavorless. 5) At the Edinburg port-of-call where we tendered in there was a long line waiting for the 2 or 3 shuttle buses ($7.50 roundtrip). On checking there was a train station 27+ steps aroung the corner where you couldnn't see it for half the price. There was also bus service in the port of South Queensferry [a short walk away] for slightly more than half. None of these transportation options were explained on board ship that we know of.
