Bigger is not always better and that's what we found on the NCL Getaway.  This is a huge ship and there isn't enough public areas for all the people.  Out of 7 cruises that DH and I have been on, this is the first time we felt the ship was crowded.  Usually once everyone is on board and goes there separate ways you don't notice all the people.  This ship you do!  We found it difficult to find a quiet place to go.  It is geared towards families and because of the kids club and teens area it is great for them.  Even though it is freestyle dining, most nights we made reservations at the complimentary restaurants to avoid a wait.  Food was average, nothing special.  Seems if a person wants "special" you have to go to the specialty restaurants.  We do not feel the need to spend more money to eat when that cost has been included in the cruise price. Buffet food was never hot but did always have a good selection.  Service in the restaurants was excellent.  Shows were pretty good, but you must make reservations.  We never got to see the comedy shows because we failed to reserve early enough and they were booked the whole cruise.  There were other shows that we could have paid for, but we refused to be nickled and dimed.  Entertainment and food should be included when on a cruise.  We ended up with only the gratuities and a few gift shop purchases on our account so kept the costs down.  We had the beverage package which was great but it was one of the freebies we got for booking so no cost to us except for the gratuities on it.  All in all a good cruise, but DH and I decided mega ships are not for us.

I was part of a group of 16 celebrating my father's 90th bday. The ship was great but I learned that the crew was new and I think that caused a lot of our organization issues. Reservations for our group were lost and we were often split up. I was in room 8150 with one of my sisters next door in 8152 and you could hear the bass from the theater on deck 7 late at night. I would've ranked it higher for everything else but those two things really put a damper on us being able to have a good time. The ship is big with lots to do. Norwegian states that it police's the matter of reserving lounge chairs on the upper decks but it actually does not. We walked up there and saw 75% of the chairs with towels, hats, shoes, you name it, on the lounges to reserve them for later. If you state in your policy that you cannot reserve lounge chairs, then you need to enforce it. 

I saw Legally Blonde which was fun. Very talented performers. We also danced to the 80's at H20 which was very fun.

Coffee wasn't the best but you can find a great cafe that serves Blue Mountain Coffee on Grand Cayman. By the way, it's also in a great cigar shop.

Loved the private island. Would recommend getting a Cabana. I had the larger one and the only downfall was that they served us almost every 10 minutes for half the day then they all disappeared. I think most went back to the ship for other duties. The bar on the island then got packed to the point where you couldn't get a drink. I recommend renting the jet skis. Those guys were great and we had a lot of fun.

All in all, it was a great vacay. I think the open seas are great to be on no matter what ship you are on.

Advantage of a large ship is that there's something for everyone to enjoy. Fairly well designed, although interior cabin better for one than two people and didn't like location of casino in the middle of the public areas. Balconies looked small. Excellent, hardworking staff. Enjoyed the diversity of passengers: singles, couples, families, seniors. Smooth transition on and off the ship. Quality of food was decent. Freestyle dining a plus. Limited selection in shopping. Excellent entertainment. Need bigger adult swimming pool.

Pleased at the way the ship handled the rescue of 17 refugees adrift at sea. NCL has improved its customer service and quality of product.

Everything was great, Our room ,the service, shows, and the food was very good. we could not have been happier, The free style was perfect for us and we are thinking of the next cruise, we do know it will be through Norweigen

Great cruise from all aspects. The entertainment was very good with variety of shows every night. The best food we ever had aboard large and beautiful ship.

He viajado con carnival , celebriti, royal caribbean pero con ustedes fue algo totalmente distinto fue muy agradable las actividades los salones de comida es bueno porque no exijen una vestimenta en la cual uno se sienta incomodo ya que esta de vacaciones. Mi unica queja es el trato un poco grocero de algunos empleados y que no tenia el conocimiento de que los shows se separan y no pude disfrutar de ninguno.

I traveled with Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean but with you was something completely different was really nice activities halls Food is good because exijen an outfit in which you feel uncomfortable as this holiday. My only complaint is the deal a little grocero some employees and that he had no knowledge of the shows are separated and could not enjoy any.

We had a decent balcony cabin with larger than expected shower and bathroom. Overall quality of food and service was not spectacular but about what was expected. Did several specialty restaurant dinners which were good. The Ultimate Beverage Package worked for us but we really think specialty coffees should be included as they are on other cruise lines.

On sea days, finding a deck chair after breakfast was impossible. They go very fast (and early). Even finding a chair or couch to lounge in elsewhere was difficult, and the bars were overflowing with people.

The lines to embark/disembark were excessive as were the ones for port calls. The worst was the tenders to Great Stirrup Cay. Terribly long waits to get to a small island that was too windy to enjoy any of it. We just went back to the ship.

The Getaway was a very comfortable ship. The service was very good. The entertainment was fun. The piano man was great. The food in the specialty restaurants was very good while the food in the dining rooms was just average.

  All the staff were outstanding, and did everything to make our cruise an enjoyable one.

Cruise agent, Jay Ravede, promised a $50 on board credit.  Credit was never applied.   I called Jay from the ship as well as sent him an e mail as a 'reminder' but all was ignored.   The ship also called him on our behalf and there was no response.    Jay Ravede also promised a bottle of wine in the room upon our arrival and it was not there.    Not really sure who you hire as a r3epresentative of your company but based on my experience with Cruises Only and with your travel agent I will no longer use Cruises Only as my agent for any future bookings.  I am hoping that you will somehow try to compensate me for my loss.  If not, I will forward this response to NCL as well as the social media pages that are available for all your potential future customers to see.     

This was my first time on a 4000 person ship. I prefer smaller, less crowded, more person friendly ships. Cabin was great! Food delicious!.Entertainment fun! Had trouble with dinner reservations not always being accurate.We had a group of 16 so this was important as my dad is 90. Sometimes areas were crowded other times no so much. The Garden Café buffet was always crazy busy.The toilet in room was iffy.There was room noise in room from some of the shows later at night. I hated having to use a tender to get off ship as the lines were always long. Ports were so so. Weather was wonderful and I had a great time with family and that was the bottom line of what this vaca  was all about.

I enjoyed being with my family and enjoying the wonderful food.  The atrium was very loud when music was being played or any games, also buy the adult pool was way too loud to relax in a lounge chair.  I did enjoy being at H2O, much quieter. The dualing pianos were fun, Wine Lover's Musical worth the cost, comedians funny, ropes course windy, climbing wall challenging, shore excursions plentiful and the weather was gorgeous.

I liked having the NCL app to text my family but it was inconsistent and didn't have enough information on it about the forecast, what type of craft being performed, list of movies on TV movie channel and prices for activities with fees.

Shakes should be available on the beverage package and having a designated bar for sports games on TV would be more fun.  I would go on the Getaway again for a good price and with a group to enjoy it.

Everything about this cruise and ship were top notch. Nothing negative to say at all.  Customer service is top notch, food is top notch. Very clean and classy ship. So much to do i didn't get to do it all. 

I enjoyed my balcony  room and beautiful ship but the customer service was extremely poor, food was bland don't bother at the buffets the food all tastes the same. I would recommend the casino on the getaway it was the best part of the boat. Staff is not helpful and they don't know their way around the boat

Had a great time overall.  Missed several shows due to slow service in the main restaurants.  And in the Brazilian steak house, it was almost non-existent.  The couple that was with us, ordered a drink refill.  After 30 minutes, it still had not come.  45 minutes after we had finished the meal, were waiting for the waiter to take our dessert and coffee orders, but he had not been seen for the last 45 minutes.  We got up to leave, and he came running out from the back, needing to swipe our cards.  The charge was 48.00.  We went down to guest services and they removed one meal and the gratuity from the bill.  That evening we missed Legally Blond due to this .  Very disappointed with the service.   

Overall a terrific setup of the ship, except the Lido deck I like a little more open space... I suggest the Vibe beach club if you are traveling with only adults... so you are never looking for a chair on a Sea day.

Restaurants were excellent, but try to book in advance as much as you can. They book up quickly. The shows/entertainment was top notch too, and always ran on time, which is a first for me after having been on 9 other cruises.

What a great trip we had! The ship was really nice- restaurant service was excellent, food was good, shows were good, comedians hilarious! We had a great time on our excursions. Sea days were the usual- overcrowded at the pool. Was hard to find any waiter service. I wish they had people walking around "monitoring" the chair situation- at 11:15 we asked a woman if the chairs next to her were taken and she said she was there since 7:10am and even though there was a towel on each of the 3 chairs, no people were there. That is just inconsiderate- for people to leave a towel for 4 hours to reserve chairs! I was pleasantly surprised that any time we went to a restaurant there was never a wait- atmosphere was really nice in the 3 main restaurants! And who doesn't love a mojito bar!! the ice bar was a fun experience!! Ship was clean, cabin was comfortable and i would highly recommend!

We hadn't sailed on a Norwegian ship in several years and thought we would give it a try once again.  Royal Caribbean has been the cruise line we prefer and, sorry to say, Norwegian just couldn't live up to the wonderful times we've had on RC.  The ship's layout made it impossible to escape the mass of people everywhere.  Food in the speciality restaurants were decent but not all of them were worth going back too.  Overall, I don't think we will sail Norwegian again unless the ports we want to visit aren't offered by Royal Caribbean.

There were so many fun things to do on the Getaway. Legally Blonde the Musical was top notch, Burn the Floor featured outstanding dancing. The smaller shows--Illusionarium and Wine Lovers the Musical--were great fun. Headliners with the comedians and Howl at the Moon guys was our go-to late night hang out. I was shocked at how few people found and took advantage of the smaller bars on the Waterfront--especially at Sunset.
