Nice, new ship but an awful lot of people makes for lots of standing in line

Review summary

We had a decent balcony cabin with larger than expected shower and bathroom. Overall quality of food and service was not spectacular but about what was expected. Did several specialty restaurant dinners which were good. The Ultimate Beverage Package worked for us but we really think specialty coffees should be included as they are on other cruise lines.

On sea days, finding a deck chair after breakfast was impossible. They go very fast (and early). Even finding a chair or couch to lounge in elsewhere was difficult, and the bars were overflowing with people.

The lines to embark/disembark were excessive as were the ones for port calls. The worst was the tenders to Great Stirrup Cay. Terribly long waits to get to a small island that was too windy to enjoy any of it. We just went back to the ship.

Ship tip

The Ultimate Drink Package includes some very nice, high end liquor and mostly acceptable although limited selection of wines. We discovered early on that they have no problem whatsoever serving us doubles of both wine and liquor that reduced our visits back to the bar.

Beware. Jamaica has the most in-your-face hawkers and hustlers of just about anywhere. It makes the Mexican tourist towns seem low key by comparison. We found a very honest, older cab driver that gave us a reasonable tour. We would not go back.

Walking the 7 mile beach is quite a scenic treat! Very few vendors and little pressure anywhere. Clean and modern.

Cozumel, Mexico

A nice surprise compared to other Mexican tourist destinations. Other that the mandatory LONG hallway-like port exit buildings full of vendors, most of the town was pleasantly low pressure. We ate at the oldest restaurant in town, Cafe Denis. Funky small sidewalk cafe with GREAT margaritas, guac and salsa all at reasonable prices.
