Ports were interesting, but we didn't spend enough time in most of them. I didn't quite understand why we left so early from the islands that were so close together, and took only a
few hours to reach.
Embarkation

Food and Dining

My husband got food poisoning from a scallop appetizer in the Taste restaurant. He went to Medical and received Gatorade concentrate and immodium, but was quarantined for 25 hours in our state room. I didn't know that Norwegian Cruises considers food poisoning a transmittable disease. He spent a very boring 25 hours in the room. We received no apology from Norwegian for serving tainted food. Don't think we'll be cruising with Norwegian again.
Onboard Activities

Pools were way too small for the 4,000 people onboard. Too much deck space was wasted on the water slides. Also, the 2 pools were not easy to enter or leave because they did not have steps in the deep sections of the pool, only ladders. Ladders are not easy for senior citizens to negotiate. The fitness center was nice.
Entertainment

Only saw Burn the Floor and the Beatles Show.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff

Our room steward, Veronica, was friendly, efficient, and always smiling. She was great, and rates 5 stars.
The employees at the excursion desk we dealt with were a bit testy and we had a very difficult time understanding them because their command of the English language was very poor, at best.
Ship Quality

Common areas were clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom

We had a mini-suite whose size was comfortable. That said, the bath tub had very high sides and I found it a bit difficult to get in and out of. The toilet stall was too tight and uncomfortable. The water in our sink had only one temperature, which was scalding hot.
The hot water made tooth brushing and drinking impossible. It was a good thing we ordered a bottled water package...we had to use that to brush teeth, wash our faces, take pills, etc..
We also had an overhead light in the vanity section (by the hairdryer) that only came on if you tapped the light with your hand a few times. Bad electrical connection, I guess.
Ship tip
Ship is very large, and you walk long distances to everything onboard. There are only 2 sets of elevators (forward and aft) with none in the center of the ship. If you have walking difficulties like I have, you're better off on a much smaller ship.
Thank you for your review. I agree with the large ships and people who have problems walking long distances. We were on the Anthem of the Seas and my husband has a hard time walking long distances with out sitting down and resting. Luckily they have many places to sit and rest so we figured it out and we enjoyed our cruise but decided we are better off on a ship a little smaller. The Anthem also only has 2 sets of elevators and at certain times they got real busy.
I’m confused about the statement that they left port early every day. The only port that you left before 5:00 pm was in Bonaire and that was because you had a long distance (500+ miles) to get to Saint Lucia. Several ports you were there until 6:00 pm. Most ships leave ports by 5:00 - 6:00 pm. The local port authority many times determines this also since they have workers on staff until the ships leave.
I agree with your comment and also wondered why we had to leave so early each day. I suspect it has something to do with costs to the cruise line to the island.
Sorry to hear about the food poisoning, we food the food great, but we do not eat sea food.
The reason for leaving the ports early, even when the next one is so close, is that once you're back on board the Cruise Line (applies to all of them) can start making more $ from you whether it be the Casino, Shopping, Speciality Dining, etc.
