Lots of new, inexperienced staff. Food not up to standards of NCL's newer mega-ships. Is NCL using older, smaller ships as a training ground? Need reservations for more and more. Is Freestyle dead? Very busy itinerary.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
One of our group tripped over a crack in the concrete walk. Scraped his arm really badly. Lots of blood. Staff in check-in had no 1st aid supplies and couldn't assist. So we went on board. Staff in ship's medical services then refused to assist since the accident hadn't occurred on the ship, even though it occurred in an NCL facility. They wouldn't even wash and clean it, much less apply a dressing, unless he gave them his credit card. We had to make do in a bathroom. I am still very upset.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
OK, but the quality and selection of food on NCL, at least on the older, smaller ships, seems to have gone down. It still seems to be very good on the newer, bigger maga-ships. A change in policy/philosophy I guess.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Good selection for a smaller ship.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Seems like a training ground now before they move to the maga-ships; however, good variety.
Children's Programs
No children with us.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
A log of new staff (They told us they were new). Again, it appears NCL is using their older, smaller ships to train staff before they graduate to the newer mega-ships.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Well maintained. Clean but starting to show its age. Balcony handrails in poor shape and a fair amount of surface rust on balcony fittings, but otherwise very good.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Clean. New steward. Small but comfortable. Prefer Jewel class.
Ship tip
Freestyle appears to be dead. Need reservations for more and more, including complimentary dining rooms (MDR and 'themed' like Bamboo). Make reservations early.
Not throwing shade but maybe pack a first aid kit like we do in your carry on bag. I travel with any and everything over the counter, meds and emergency supplies ,you could possibly need
