Had a wonderful time! by lisaborowski

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

beautiful ship. Our cabin was clean and comfortable.   our room steward was wonderful.  The service in the dining rooms was excellent and the food was outstanding.  I found the service at the bars to be substandard and the ship was way too crowded.

Good but exception s by annettegeraci

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

this was my first time on the break away. My fourth cruise with NCL. also my first cruise bringing our younger children. There were good points and bad points to this trip. crowding was to be expected due to the high capacity of people allowed on the ship. I knew this going in that did not bother me that much I knew what to avoid and when after the first day. I never had trouble finding a table even when the buffet was at its busiest.found the choices at the buffet to be adequate. We did the breakfast there everyday and lunch. We did not purchased the dining package because it did not include any of the restaurantsat my family wanted to eat at. So therefore we did not use any of the pay restaurants and I cannot give a review on that. I give very high recommendation to entourage for teens.we hardly saw our 15 year old and he said this was the best trip of his life he loved entourage and all of the counselors and activities that they did along with all of the activities the ship itself provided like the rope course etc. the photographers were phenomenal. Our cabin steward was exceptional he was above and beyond Bradley was the best cabin steward we had so far. adult activities were also very good a wide range to choose from and the shows were great. Never had a problem getting into a show. Our service in the Manhattan room was very very good. the downside to the trip was some of the bartenders a scarce few but they were quite rude. We did have the drink package so we were tipping because we knew they weren't getting tips from the drinks that we were ordering. There was one in particular that was extremely rude and refused to make certain drinks and talked very nastily to me at one point for something that didn't even have to do with me. I avoided that area of the ship for the last two days of the cruise because of his rudeness. My 10 year old was in splash Academy he did not attend the last two nights because on the one night one of the staff members cursed at them. I did not bring this to the attention of anyone on the ship at the time although I was infuriated that that's why he wanted to leave early. He called our cabin 7 times trying to get us to pick him up early after that incident we had the iconcierge and the staff was aware of this and did not try to contact us on that as they knew we were going to be by the pool. I wanted to enjoy the rest of our trip and not create a scene so I will be writing a letter to NCL to voice my disdain with the staff member from splash Academy for the 10 to 12 year olds. my overall opinion of the screws is fair. Had it not been for the last two incidents I mentioned I would say it was great but the way we were treated by certain individuals brings my rating way down. I'm not sure if I will take this particular ship again and I'm not ruling out NCL as I book the gym for next April and I'm hoping that the staff is much better there since its 10 days I'd like for my son to be able to attend splash Academy some of the days.

Norwegian Breakaway is awesome! by gha

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The trip to Bermuda on the Norwegian Breakaway was great!  First class food - Cagney's Steakhouse should not be missed.  You also have the option to eat inside or outside in each of the restaurants.  Entertainment was great - we saw Burn the Floor, Rock of Ages, Second City Comedy, and Howl at the Moon (Dueling Pianos).  We enjoyed each show, and went multiple times to Howl at the Moon.  We were thoroughly entertained all week!  Excursions were fun too - took tour of the island, went to beach at Horseshoe Bay (which should not be missed), a Glass bottom boat tour at night, and Jet Skied around the island!  The jet skis were our favorite thing to do, so much fun!

NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY by dtrzaska1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

WE loved the cruise because all the workers were especially friendly to us.  Curly, our bar waiter was simply the best.  Our first night -- he made my drink - with the straw paper in the shape of a heart.  Our cabin steward, Johnito was the best -- always anticipating our needs.  Our dining room staff, even though we went to different restaurants at different times were the best.  We always had good service.  Getting on and off the ship, especially embarkation and debarkation were easy.  We have been on other cruises, where there was total chaos during embarking and debarking -- not this Cruise line.  The cruise staff was very friendly.   There was a lot of nice shows while on board.  The Spa staff was great.

Great cruise on NCL Breakaway by debhinkle25

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This cruise was a celebration cruise between two families (eight guests total).  Everyone enjoyed the week.  Considering it's a huge ship and there were a lot of people, everything went remarkably very smoothly.  We enjoyed one stateroom with a balcony while the rest of the family chose interior cabins.  Although small, the bathrooms were ample, rooms always very clean and service excellent.  Food - very good for a cruise ship.  There was plenty of entertainment during the day and evening as well. We were disappointed in the comedy selection but most of the shows were very enjoyable.  We took advantage of the 'vibe' which you pay extra for but it provided us with a quiet section to relax in, away from the crowded decks.  Cons - I would have preferred more than just one pool for the size of the ship.  The disembodiment on our return to port was extremely disorganized.  I'm not sure if things just went wrong on this particular trip or if this is a common occurrence but this might be something NCL should work on.  I believe we all enjoyed our vacation more than we expected on this ship and we are glad we did a 7-day and not a 5-day cruise.

Wonderful Experience by Wilbran44

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Ship is beautiful. Lots of entertainment. Reviews I read before going on this cruise complained that the size of main theater is too small for this size ship. When I 1st saw the theater I understood. But, the cruise director explained that there are more entertainment venues than there are nights of the cruise. I agree. Second City comedy, Jazz and Blues club and dueling pianos are examples. In main theater, Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor are wonderful shows. We made reservations before the cruise. They open for walk-ins 1/2 hour before show time. Food was good enough that we did not feel need to opt for specialty restaurants. Music shows in Atrium were good. For 1st timers to Bermuda I recommend the 5 hour Island tour on 1st day. We then knew where we wanted to go on the 2nd & 3rd day. Public transportation on Bermuda is good, reliable and reasonably priced. Only negative was in New York. We spent night before in Roosevelt Hotel, 45th St and Madison Ave, approx 13 blocks from port. Cab took over an hour. We finally got out and walked across street to port. New York may be convenient for people in N.E part of country, but from Mid-West, flights to Florida and hotels and transportation are less expensive. I would/have recommended cruise to family and friends with upfront warning about traffic in New York.

NCL Breakaway is fantastic, but Bermuda...not so much. by scottemgese

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The NCL Breakaway was beyond awesome,  but Bermuda wasn't. Weather was chilly, rainy along with 40+ mph wind gusts. We stayed in the vicinity of the port, but there was little to do there besides visit some small uninteresting shops. go to Snorkel Park which is a smelly, run down man made beach, or visit some very poorly maintained old British buildings and fortifications. We did visit Horseshoe Bay beach (which is advertised as one of their best beaches and one of the very small natural beaches on the island) but could only stay 40 minutes due to the cold water, rain, and strong gusting wind. While hiding from the wind there at the one and only snack shop/concession stand (everything they had was hugely overpriced) I was told by a cashier there that the really only time when the weather is nice and the water is bearably warm on the island is July and August. I am very disappointed in this cruise destination and will not go back or recommend it to anyone. The NCL Breakaway is being wasted on this dull destination. She should be cruising the Caribbean.

Bermuda Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway by pamap

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Pretty much the same as OTHER Cruises that we have taken on other Lines - Food/Dining and Rooms were VERY GOOD. The main item that we were disappointed in was for the Large Size of the Ship was the Auditorium / Theater area which was SMALL compared to ships we have been on that were smaller and had Big Theaters with Balcony's which this didn't.. They could NOT handle large crowds for the Free Shows and you had to Reserve the night you wanted to attend any particular presentation of which there were only a few and they were NOT the Best. Also the Seats in the Auditorium were the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE Chairs (seat cushion had a bar at far back side of it that protruded and you could feel it) I have ever experienced.

The Haven Fantastic by thebensens

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Our family loves everything about NCL travel.  We stayed in The Haven 2 bedroom suite and I have recommended this to everyone I know.  The staff takes care of your every need, you have The Haven restaurant and bar, lots of space and lounges to relax and take the sun and you have a small pool and hot tubs.  This is definitely the way to go!!!  We did some of the specialty restaurants and I was very impressed with the food, especially in The Haven and the staff there.  I have booked three more cruises with NCL in the next year in the Haven!  We had tried three other cruise lines, NCL is our favorite!

Only negatives I have are everything about Ocean Blue, from the menu (definitely NOT Seafood?????) to the wait staff, and especially the outrageous prices!  I would close it!   Five of us were sadly disappointed.

Not impressed at all by kittykat41370

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Too many restrictions. No smoking anywhere except in casino on 8th floor and on 15th floor. The kids were not allowed to use the pools unless they were a certain age. kids pool/teen pool/adult pool. Family was separated. Could not spend time with all of us together. Was a disappointment. Too many reasons to list why I did not like this cruise. I wont travel with Norwegian again. I will cruise but not with them.

Worth experiencing Cruise by bali1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We have been to other cruises from NCL and also have experienced cruises from other companies. Comparatively, the ship is excellent. Cruise staff was exceptional. Customer service was excellent. However, the quality of complimentary shows lacked quality and were inferior. On the food front, there was more attention on the paid restaurants. The quality of food and choice of complimentary food lacked comparatively.

The overall experience was great.

Norwegian Breakaway by cindymarie518

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The Breakaway is a beautiful 17 story ship. It holds over four thousand people and with that said the pool area is very crowded especially when you are at sea. Also if you didn't go an hour or so ahead of time for the "free" entertainment you  wouldn't be able to get a seat or a view. This ship seems to charge for more entertainment then previous cruises I have been on. I have sailed on other Norwegian Ships before and felt that this ship was meant to cater more to the wealthy. I also felt that the food, sit down restaurants and buffet, wasn't nearly as good as the other ships I have been on. We had a balcony room that was very clean and comfortable. The staff were great, friendly and very helpful. If you don't mind the pool area and "free" entertainment being over crowded. I would recommend that you experience this ship at least once.

Enjoyed this trip!!! by ShayCowEyes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I really enjoyed my trip, the boat is big!!! There were about 5,000 people on board. If you are an early morning person you will especially enjoy it because you have to get up early to be able to enjoy the hot pools.  (I forgot what you call it) There was plenty of chairs so that you can soak up the sun.  There were a few things that I did not like however, for example I wanted to see some of the shows, I did see the circus show it was very good but the some of the other shows I would not go to see them because of the bad language used.  The restaurants were very nice and the food was good. I went with some friends so I had a nice time and I was celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary. The boat is nice if you want to relax. They had a lot of activities to do.  I think you will like the boat if you can keep yourself busy if that is what you want to do.  I myself went to relax and that is what I did.
