Not impressed at all

Thanks for your review - I am sorry the cruise did not live up to your expectations.

I would like to point out a few things, though --

As a smoker, I am sure you have noticed in the past few decades that your "rights" as a smoker have been steadily shrinking. I believe they will continue to deteriorate to the level of non-smoking ships (the planes, trains and busses). I am sure you can find plenty of thread on this debate.

As far as the kid/teen/adult pool, that probably addresses the many complaints from the adults about the kids taking over the pools. Although the adults cannot go into the kiddie pool (and the kids shouldn't go into the adult pool), I am sure that the tables and lounges in both areas were open to all.

As far as the AC not working -- did you contact the maintenance department and they refused/were not able to fix it?

As far as the cabin size, yes the ship's cabins (regardless of the line) are quite a bit smaller than hotel rooms.

If you are referring to my post, I said that others prefer a balcony. A/c which I understand to be air conditioning is then not a problem. It is something I have never ever used

When you book any cabin on a ship you expect A/C to work just as you expect the plumbing to work.  An inside cabin should be cooler as it has no exterior walls and is insulated on all 6 sides.   I have read reviews where the A/C does not work well in a suite.  Some people prefer an inside cabin,  it is Nice and dark and great for sleeping.  Lots of people only use a cabin for sleeping and showering so no need for window or balcony.

They stated that the cabin was to hot to sleep because the a/c was not working properly.

I could not understand as to why you thought that the cabin was hot, until I read that the cruise was last May and you were in an inside cabin. I do realise that cost comes into play, but I would never consider an inside cabin. I like light and air and consequently always book a balcony. You pay your money and take what it is valued at.

Adults can hang out at the child friendly pool,  they have to to keep an eye on their kids.  As far as smoking,  this is a major hot topic on ships.  The vast Majority does not want to put up with smoke and ships have smoking areas.  This allows the majority to enjoy the ship and gives the smokers a place to smoke.

I'm afraid you will find the same issues on almost all cruise lines.  How was the food?   How was the service in the MDR ?   How was the cabin steward ?  How were the ports and excursions ?    A full review of the good and the bad is always appreciated.

Not sure I understand your statement "Family was separated. Could not spend time with all of us together".  In years of cruising I have always experienced ships that embraced family vacationing together.

What some cruise lines do (to varying degrees) is curtail the behavior of poorly behaved, unsupervised children from impacting the vacations of fellow travelers. 

Most ships have an adult-only pool that allows mature adults traveling without children to enjoy a quiet pool environment. Other pools are open to anyone however, children must be supervised by parent/guardian because it is not the ship's responsibility, nor that of fellow passengers, to worry about or oversee the care and safety of minors, with the exception of formal child care programs where the crew provides organized activities with parental consent. 

You are going to find this sort of arrangement on most other cruise lines... do your homework to understand what each ship's routine is pertaining to minors traveling with adults.

Those restrictions you speak of are for the comfort of the majority (non smokers and travelers without their children). Next time you should do your homework. Smokers seem to think they have a right to inconvenience everyone else for their comfort. As for the children as far as I can remember there is nowhere on the ship that is restricted to children only.
