the list of positive things about the breakaway is a short one. the crew is nice , the food was better than expected, and the cabin was very nice. the rest of the cruise not so good. its way to crowded, there are only two sets of elevators so you have long walks to everything.the atrium is way to small for the way they try to use it, the pool is too small and there is no room around it.you have to reserve every show you want to see. so much for being freestyle!we have been on many ships on several lines and have never said we would not go on a ship again, until now. tendering was a disaster and disembarkation was the worst. it took hours to get off and we were ez walk off.breakaway no way!

Worst Cruise Ever by niyv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

They are very disorganized and are not all about the customer experience. They charge for a lot of little extra things. Room service is no longer free, they got rid of lobster night and only have it in specialty restaurants which you pay for, gave me bootleg escargot. It was mushrooms, not snails. Had special where you received complimentary beverage package, but charged you for the taxes every time you were in port on every drink. My sister's room steward was horrible. She went down to adjust the gratuities and you have to email the form to them and they will refund you within two weeks. They had a game of family feud but did not have a buzzer so you had to make animal noises. It was just ridiculous. It was obvious they had cut backs and thought of how to cut back on the customer but be profitable for the cruise line. I've been on several cruises but this was by far the worst!

Crew was great! by sbrett21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship was clean and nice.  However, I found it to be too large.  It took a bit to navigate.  I liked the bar outside on deck 8 and the adults only section aft deck 16.  I don't think the ship needs 6 specialty restaurants that charge an additional fee.  It seemed these restaurants didn't fill up which would cause a wait in the dining room some nights.  The pool area is not very large so there was no BBQ near the pool which I have experienced on many other cruises.  However, there were plenty of deck lounge chairs so no fighting over chairs (Yay!).  I am not a smoker, but I thought the smoking "box" on deck 15 was ridiculous.  Plus it smelled really bad and has no fans to help ventilate the smoke.  The food was excellent especially the beef dishes.  But no lobster unless you went to a specialty restaurant and paid extra on top of the additional fee to dine there--Lobster in Le Bistro was $19.95 plus another $9.95--so $30 for lobster????  Also felt like the ship nickled and dimed the passengers for everything.  Like the games at O'Sheen's Irish Bar--they were expensive to play.  O'Sheen's is a nice Irish pub but they don't serve Guinness--WHAT?????  The atrium was too loud--I went for a chef demonstration and could not hear the chef.  The dining rooms were loud too--Savor, Taste and Manhattan.

The Rock of Ages show was AMAZING!  However, the theater seats are incredibly uncomfortable.  Please fix the seats.

I would have loved to attend some of the parties on board at night, but they all start at 10:30 p.m.  Can't you start them a bit earlier like 9:30 p.m.?

very crowded by jaclynchechakos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My family LOVED the layout of the ship, didn't really like how all of the restaurants had the same menu or how crowded the atrium got during certain events. My son loved the kids club and loved the staff. My son disliked how the ice cream was closed when he had a late night (11:30). The private island was beautiful.....big didn't get to enjoy it, due to over over crowding!

GREAT ship, EXCELLENT port! by LisaShappe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was my first time cruising NCL, previously I cruised Princess (once) and Carnival (many times).  The ship was BEAUTIFUL, contemporary but warm.  The staff was excellent and the specialty restaurant were fabulous!  We had a mini suite which was great, the bathroom was large (for a ship).  The only negative was that our balcony was really small which was disappointing but the rest of the ship more than made up for it.  We had a package that included all the specialty restaurants which were GREAT.  I would highly recommend them.

Bermuda was such a welcome change from the Caribbean.  We were not harassed by any of the locals to buy from them or take their private car.  I felt EXTREMELY safe there.  We took their bus system to get to the Horseshoe Bay and it was great.  I can't imagine anyone being disappointed choosing this trip.  Oh and cruising from NY harbor was so fu.  Super easy and great seeing the sights from the ships and cruising under the Verrazano bridge was so very cool.  I think I took more pictures in NY harbor than throughout the rest of the trip.  If you take this cruise make sure that you get up really early and going up on deck to see the ship come back into the harbor.  The sleeping city is breathtaking!!   Happy

Everything LARGE!!! by Cruiser772

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

My husband and I enjoyed our cruise.  Our room was small but functional.  Food, entertainment, shopping was fantastic.  The ship was  enormous, only thing , not enough seating for entertainment.  We spent most of our time looking for seats and the entertainment that we saw was exceptional!!!

                                                               Thank you.

Bermuda trip on Norwegian Breakaway by awein4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This trip was very disappointing.  The room did not come with amenities that other cruise ships have provided including body lotion and other amenities.  The entertainment was below par compared to other cruise ships, and the food while good enough was not on a par with other cruise ships.  There were no lectures on the history of Bermuda and its significance as an Atlantic island.

Repeat cruiser by oconnorjohn4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Ship crowded, hard to find a quiet spot. Poor soundproofing throughout- this was the first cruise (out of 18 cruises) where noise in corridor was apparent.

Food was better than expected. Cabin steward excellent.

Bad weather but a great time by bigtee7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Oct.18 30 degree temp when I left my home to the ship but once I got on things heated up, a great ship and a great crew , the only thing ,I have been on the Breakaway three times now and they never change the entertainment , so I have seen Burn the Floor and Rock of Ages now about six times , they need to change it up a little or add something new for people like me that cruise a lot.

BREAKWAY....ncl by roc1340

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

first off...we were dealing with Alex Conway who was a total waste...he never retuned any of our calls... so there for i will not even consider booking any future cruise with

as far as the NCL breakway,  after sailing on six other times with NCL... this was the worst...too big, to many people and tons of kids which made the trip unpleasant.

Norwegian Breakaway Bermuda by Cruiser943

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I was most unhappy with the design of this ship which was open space around the Atrium causing mobs of people around whatever activities were offered.  Also seating in the Atrium was limited as a result of oversized seats which took up too much space.  The open design was especially unfortunate since smoking on the casino level allowed the smoke to drift above and below, causing breathing problems.

Not what I expected by karenmasthay

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The cruise staff was excellent, especially our cabin attendant and the bar staff.  The state room was very nice and comfortable, loved the bathroom.

Was very unhappy with the lack of live music by the pool area and no food options while enjoying a cocktail.  The free style dining options were good but didn't like the fact that you had to pay extra for a exceptional meal.  I thought there was alot of children on the cruise for the time of the year and didn't appreciate the crying.  Unfortunately the weather was terrible which was a first for me.

I will not be cruising with Norwegian in the future.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

the cruise ship was gorgeous but when we were out at sea there were not much to do, and it got pretty boring. The food was delicious everywhere and everyone was so kind and helpful expect guest services, they were horrible and had a bad attitude like we were interupting their day.

Gratuity by chenetap

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I enjoyed the trip, but I didn't like the fact that Norweign would charge gratuity up front. I would never go anywhere and not tip for services, but I don't think anyone have the right to automatically take $13.50 a day out of my money and say this is there policy.  At the end of day this is a trip I paid for, not something Norweign gave me, so gratuity should strictly be up to me.

disappointed by Cruiser978

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This is our 7th cruise with NCL and the older ships are laid out much better than the Breakaway.  Too much open space and it was very  overwhelming in the Atrium area.  Not enough seating.

The smoke from the casino was throughout the center of the ship.
