Review summary

I enjoyed the trip, but I didn't like the fact that Norweign would charge gratuity up front. I would never go anywhere and not tip for services, but I don't think anyone have the right to automatically take $13.50 a day out of my money and say this is there policy.  At the end of day this is a trip I paid for, not something Norweign gave me, so gratuity should strictly be up to me.

you don't need to but some people do tip the bartenders and room stewards extra with cash. That's up to you and how you feel the service was. My experience is that the room stewards level of service is usually really high. people tip bartenders more to "be taken care of".

so, do you people need to tip on top of the $13.50 a day?

All cruise lines do this. The only ones who don't are the super elegant high-end lines where tips are included in the fare.
