Get better info from HAL. Mask policy optional or required?, no ATM on board, no check cashing but a draw on credit card, cost of laundry bag at any time as opposed to last week of cruise.

Expect to be pampered.

Get to know your stewards and waiters. We liked to learn about where they came from, and a little about their lives. They sometimes also know a lot about the upcoming port. We learned from the waitstaff in the explorer's lounge on deck 12 that there was a grocery store not far from the ship, it actually could be seen through the window, I love to go into food stores, in other countries, to see what they sell and look at some different foods.

Don’t pay extra for CO on this ship. The dining venue is an uncomfortable space.

Enjoy it!

Bring some magnetic hooks and clips to use on their metal walls to hang the daily schedule and small items.

Take time to visit all parts of the ship to see all that is available.

You can't use non-refundable OBC in the casino, and the stuff in the shops is way over priced. Try to use your OBC for shore excursions or specialty restaurants because you can't get it out anywhere as cash.

Don't expect lots of entertainment

Not sue. I would not sail with this cruise line again. The captain apologized for a few things but the passengers did not benefit from it at all. No effort on Holland America’s part to make amends for the disastrous boarding procedures or lack of information overall for how the boat actually ran, lack of entertainment, etc.

Don't go now...we masked and sanitized , still got covid....stuck in Canada isolation 10 days

If you want a ship that is more of an amusement park then a cruise ship, this is not the ship for you. Frankly, it' probably not a really good ship for young families with children. But even though the age on board probably averages out a little higher, it would be a good cruise for active young adults on up to older cruisers.

I would try the older ships, they may still have the glamour of ocean cruises.

A great ship. Ask about what they have done to improve embarcation process. Book excursions very early. We were late and were waitlisted on most excursions.ns.

Go with patience and a smile on your face

Turn the TV on as soon as you enter your cabin then go check in at your muster station - by the time you're back, the TV will be ready to use and you can unpack & go enjoy the balcony if you have one or deck if you don't. The ship is lovely - get the minor details out of the way then explore the ship while everyone else is boarding. If your TV does not immediately come on, call Passenger Service so they can send someone to reset it - it won't work until it plays the safety video & that won't play until TV is reset. If cabin steward didn't reset it between passengers you will have to call to have it done. A note about that in the cabin would be helpful.

Learn the layout of the ship

Grab a chair in the forward croes nest lounge because it seems that people camp out there all day occupying the chairs with out anywhere to sit. Be prepared to wait for tendering to an excursion, it appeared to be very unorganized

Quiter classier ship without a ton of thrills, but just a good overall experience

Go to an upscale line.
