Review summary
The night before disembark we were informed we were randomly selected by customs for an interview at 5:45a. We showed up at the appointed time- only to stand around around for 30m because no one was telling anyone what to do. Finally 2 fellows wearing Holland uniforms with Cumtoms emblems on the shoulders showed up and started telling individuals they could go. I finally worked my way over to one of them- he asked me where I lived- and tolded me I could go I did not need to be there they only needed Canadian residents. That information would have been in the Holland computer and could have avoided the whole problem of dragging a hundred people out of bed that early for no reason. Scheduling cruise ships in port on holidays when the city is closed does not give the passenger much to do- I would think Holland has enough people and computers working that they could adjust schedules by a day to accommodate. Also, just because a port has a deep harbor does mean that’s a good port for a cruise ship to visit, there needs to be something in the port for visitors. Ports miles from town are not good ports either, some ports will provide a shuttle service to get passengers into town, others do not, if not passengers may say forget I’ll keep my money.Embarkation

Ship tip
I would try the older ships, they may still have the glamour of ocean cruises.
